    Thanks. Ibanez has made a number of nylon electro guitars. I have a GA35TCEDVS which has a body leaning a bit more toward traditional. Still a moderately thin body, but with a resonant top and a normal sound hole. Very nice piece and fun to play.
    Channeled through a Bose T4S for a bit of "piezo correction" it's great. W/o the correction it's a bit thin and honky like most nylon piezo's, but once corrected, you can get deep into Willie Nelson style walk-ups and other fun things 😊
    You'all might want to try this one into some tone correction pedals or a T4S, maybe even a Kemper. That would be a fun session and demo 😁

    Love mine. I have a gibson semi-hollow electric, fender strat, Martin full body acoustic, and this guitar. Makes apartment playing fantastic. Really lightweight, I take it everywhere. The nylon strings make practicing chord shapes and fretting more articulate across all guitar types as you get less clarity by playing blues or classic rock style. As a jimmy page and David gilmour inspired player, this guitar brought out some articulation problems in my finger picking and fretting. Glorious instrument for the price, wish it had a case. My most played practice guitar. I love polyphia so that was a perk.

    • @JonasCraftUltimate

      how is playability vs steel string acoustic? i have tendonitis and want something that takes way less force to play than my steel strings.

    • @zaccarter3801
      @zaccarter3801 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@JonasCraftUltimate I think one thing to consider is that while fretting is less physically demanding, it is way more finicky. By that I mean, you have to more precisely articulate chords. Nylon strings will buzz or mute much more easily than metal strings. If I was you, I would consider lighter gauges or an electric guitar (semi hollow or hollow). Because most guitar songs have bends, and nylon strings don’t bend well. To be candid, I actually sold the Tim Henson guitar to make room for my dream Les Paul. Nothing wrong with the guitar, I just got a great deal on a Gibson Les Paul and the Tim Henson guitar had decent resale still. So made room.

      @@JonasCraftUltimate what’s your play style? I can make some decent recommendations in the same ballpark. If you are kind of in to anything and want something versatile, an epiphone ES-335 is a great instrument that sounds good acoustically and amazing with an amp. WARNING, any purchase of an epiphone will make you dream about the Gibson version. I used to be an “anti-Gibson” guy but then I grew up and Gibson, as a whole, got better (avoid 2013-2018 years, is a good rule of thumb).

      I thought it sounded good as well, and it's really not at all expensive for a signature guitar. I see this as a nylon guitar for electric players who want "unplugged" tones on stage or for beginners (who like Polyphia) ... it's obviously not for classical guitarists. If I didn't already have a nylon string electroacoustic I think I'd be sorely tempted.

    If I were a Tim Henson fan, I would probably go for his electric with the pickups that give me a nylon sound to have more versatility. Saying that, I'm always happy that someone like Tim wants to try something new and Ibanez are good enough to accommodate him and have enough faith in him to put it out there.
    Hopefully we will hear something new in the future from someone wielding this thing and we'll all eat our hats!

    I actually like how the pickups sound, it's quite unique but that also means it's super niche, and this style of elec/accoustic is already a hard sell on top of the nylon, and I woulds simply NEVER use one of these flat bodies as a straight accoustic which cuts the theoretical usefulness in half for me. Doesn't sound bad at all, but definitely needs the right player AND the right kind of music to be useful.

      I'd imagine it sounds better when you run it through Tim Henson's NeuralDSP plugin which has an acoustic sim. I personally find these (and the Fender acoustasonics) a bit puzzling because they're just about useless as actual acoustic guitars... but given how incredibly popular the Fenders are, there must be a real market for them.
      For some I imagine it's a sweet compromise, but for me, if I want an acoustic, I want its sound to be intrinsic to the guitar itself and not dependent on DSP.

      Well, it was an Ibanez/Tim Henson design venture. If you're familiar with Polyphia (the band Tim is in) you know that their music is highly processed and produced. Tim is as much a sound engineer as he is a guitar player. He designed this with his unique playing styles and purposes in mind. He can use post processing to make it sound as thick as he wants it to. His music and sound are increasingly popular and Ibanez isn't going to pass up the opportunity to sell his fans a signature model even if it is a one trick pony without the aid of high end processing/recording equipment. It's a cool looking guitar in my opinion. Personally, I'd buy it based on appearances alone, but I like the wider nut and the nylon string sound also.

      The previous Ibanez nylon? It’s an Ibanez SC500N it was a strat body style of this from the 90s-early 00s.
      For me personally I always wanted that one, being left handed and all. It’d be easier for me to switch it over to left handed. But I hear they have a left handed model of the TOD10N now and the non signature model as well so…

      But I suspect, having spent 20yrs in retail, that they recalled them and are fixing whatever the problem with bridges was. I'd bet when they reappear, they will be less problematic. That's basic manufacturing.

      Back in June I ordered two of these from two separate companies just to maximize my chances of getting points quickly as possible. I just got the second one in and I’m planning to sell it to a friend who wanted one the first one that came in had perfect intonation right out of the box. The second had a minor issue that took me about 11 seconds to rectify. Don’t let those intonation issues scare you off. They’re usually just a matter of set up (atleast the ones being delivered now) my bigger issues were the small cosmetic problems than mine came with. But these are all things I can live with.

    • @Physticuffs
      @Physticuffs 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@barendtromp sure. There are a bunch of things that can cause the intonation to be off. It’s not necessarily the nut being in the wrong place. In my case, the internation was noticeably off, but it wasn’t catastrophic. So I checked out the nut and realized that the G and e strings looked a little high in the nut, so I loosen the strings and ran a file along the nut slot to cut it properly. Tuned it back up, and the intonation was perfect. Or at least very close to perfect to the point where I can’t even tell any more. Also, I’ve heard some people say that if nylon strings, I’ve been overtightened at any point it can over stretch the string which will cause intonation issues. I haven’t experienced that one myself but it’s something you could look at if you’re having internation issues. Always start with the easiest thing first.

    There is a trade off with electric nylon guitars...too many nuances to get into here, but if you process the sound, these guitars will sound incredible. The best analogy would be to say that the difference between a real saxophone and a plastic saxophone is like a real classical guitar is to an electric classical nylon guitar. In both examples, both instruments are two completely different animals. So you decide how you want to handle the trade off.
