  • My long time friend Sam is now the proud owner of the Tim Henson Signature Ibanez TOD10NTKF Nylon Acoustic-Electric Guitar, and I finally get to try it out for the first time.
As a fingerstyle enthusiast, I was immediately impressed by the smooth, mellow sound of the nylon strings, while Sam, who had already spent time with the guitar, appreciated its comfortable neck profile and excellent projection. The Tim Henson Signature Ibanez TOD10NTKF was a versatile and exceptional instrument, perfect for musicians seeking a fresh approach to the acoustic-electric guitar experience.

Just correcting your correction and a few other things, lol.
The bass side does NOT have steel strings. All six strings are nylon, but the bass side are nylon wrapped with very thin silver plated copper wire. Do NOT attempt to use steel strings of any kind on this guitar or else you’ll rip the bridge off the guitar and/or cause the neck to twist. When you buy nylon strings, you can buy them totally unwrapped or with the bass side strings wrapped, similar to ukulele strings that can be sold totally unwrapped or with a wrapped low g. But they are NOT steel. I would actually recommend making this clear because you don’t want people to buy the wrong thing and end up wrecking their guitars. That damage won’t be covered as a warranty repair.
I would personally recommend checking out the D’addario nylon string options - and they have lots! I suggest:
    1) D'Addario XTC45 XT Silver-plated Classical Guitar Strings - Normal Tension
    Or
    2) Any of the Pro Arte string options with normal tension.
How is the bridge? I keep hearing people say the walnut bridge is very soft and getting divots very quickly. That’s eventually something theat happens with classical bridges, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s truly making divots be try quickly enough to need end beads instead of tying the strings in the traditional way. Any input on that? Do you see any divots?
You can also buy separate beads so you can use any nylon strings. Rosette Diamond Bridge Beads are the best out there. I have seen some people remove the beads off their old steel strings and tie them onto the nylons. Some people also like to tie a knot and melt it with a lighter to make their own ball end of sorts.
Also, that need hole on the top is not for sound. It’s just to access the truss rod. There’s no significant sound coming out of that teeny hole. If you hear anything, it’s the top vibrating.😉
Last, the model is not what you said. It’s the TOD10N - not sure where you got all those extra letters/numbers lol.
Hope this info helps you and other people. I don’t want anyone to ruin their guitar by accident. I’ve heard people complaining on Reddit about bridges falling off and that they think it’s a manufacturing defect, but I suspect people used steel strings (as did a SW rep I was speaking with dabout this while he was checking something for me). I also want everyone to have a smooth and enjoyable experience after such a long wait!
    Thanks! Enjoy that guitar!

Thank you for this. I was wondering if I had to buy two sets of strings for every change; one nylon set, one steel set. Which seemed odd but its an odd guitar so who knows.

      Massively helpful info.
Please can you help elaborate to me if the intonation on this guitar is any issue??? I'm looking to buy one in a few weeks.
      Thanks in advance

Solid comfy review, I'm surprised you guys don't get more views! I wish we got an acoustic sound test though..
Side note: The TOD in TOD10N stands for Tree Of Death, the fretboard inlay.

I love these conversational style videos. I’m learning a lot from them. I’m the guy that you are speaking of that knows very little about guitars.

That guitar has a lot of things going for it. Definitely a guitar worth looking into especially for someone who wants to upgrade and wants something a bit different than the typical more expensive acoustic.

Restringing a nylon guitar might be a cool video.

I have the FRH10NNTF which is the same guitar as the TOD10N but not black with no inlays for $499 and I can share a couple things. The actions come high on these at 2.8mm on the Low E and 2.4mm on the High E. I have my saddle shaved down to get it down 2.2mm and 1.8mm and just a sliver of relief when pressing the 1st fret and the last fret and checking the 8th fret for clearance (you can take this even lower I think but I won't it feels great). It plays so good now this way compared to how it came from the factory no buzzing at all and way more playability. I had to straighten a couple frets mind you because it came uneven so check your frets and have that done if necessary. Also changing the strings is way easier and you get better break angle for better tone by using $10 string ties which are little rubber pieces that make you not need to tie knots at the bridge definitely check those out and they also prevents the cutting grooves into the bridge wood issue these guitars are have. Also, if you want the Tim Henson sound I got his Archetype plug in and you literally just chose the 1st amp which is black in the program and is the acoustic one which has a reverb set on default and all you need is to enable to compressor and boom there it is that simple it's amazing.. sounds literally just like his guitar tone on recordings. Some nylon string sets that people say work on these guitars don't as I found out. XTC45's are the best without question and proper tension and changing to them from the crappy ones it had on also made a huge difference. They say they use the XTC45's and maybe they do but wow they were totally shot compared to fresh ones if that's the case. Hope this helped someone!

That’s so exciting! Super happy for you and your first guitar. I was very surprised the way it played. I do not think you will be disappointed. But you’re right they are taking awhile to make them

great video, can you share what the name of the melody you start to play at the 6min mark of the video?

Here there! I appreciate you reaching out...Sorry for the late response. But the chord progression is: Am9(No5), D7(No5), Gmaj7, and C ... If you played the progression with an altered tempo and a change in dynamic it would sound really close to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida". Hope that helps.
