I ended up buying the Tim Henson “TOD10N” guitar! This video is my first impressions/initial review of the TOD10N guitar and my overall thoughts and opinions of the guitar. For $700, this is a very affordable signature artist guitar that is very fun to play and surprisingly versatile in playability and tone!

Hi! Just a correction, the lower three strings on classical guitars are silver wound nylon, not steel, so i don't imagine that is what causes the intonation issues you're having.
I was wondering if anyone would point that out. I've never played a guitar with unwound nylon on the low strings. And I don't think there's anything to suggest there's a mix of steel/nylon on this guitar specifically, so I'd assume he just didn't know that.

Often on classical guitars, the intonation is a bit trickier when you go higher because it’s hard to not apply pressure/push the string sharp/flat. Not sure if this guitar is the same (no truss rod)
the hole in the front isnt a sound hole it's the truss rod adjustment spot, i think most of these guitars shipped with relatively high action so a little bit of adjustment worked for me to fix the intonation and stuff👍

Little bit of a correction, you said classical guitar's lower 3 strings are steel, they are actually nylon strings that are wound with copper or something alike, still nylon strings, just wound so the tension would be higher
To make the mass of the string higher rather. Increasing mass lowers the pitch at the same tension.

3:20 the thing about the intonation: its the same effect in the frequencies that led to John Frusciante "detuning" his B string for Scar Tissue (iirc he just didnt care... but.. still). The intervals tend to sound a little higher, mostly because of the analog/acoustic aspect of the guitar. its got to do with the harmonics and frequencies and stuff. I experienced a similar thing on my e-cello when i compared the finger placing on the c-string vs my a-string. Pretty weird. You can fix this stuff pretty easily with different strings but i wouldn't trust myself doing that. Not on a cello

Good review, appreciate the different demonstrations. Waiting on this guitar still. Had only heard of Polyphia by name before seeing this release but I was looking for something different from a production/recording perspective, this offers that for me. Excited to get hands on.

The 700 dollar price point absolutely wrecks the 1200 starting point for a standard acoustasonic.
Poor comparison when they’re two extremely different guitars. Like there’s nothing similar about them whatsoever. You clearly have the wrong idea about one, the other, or both.

Tim Henson stated in an interview that the guitar is mainly meant to be played amplified, i.e semi acoustic nylon string equivalent to semi hollow electric guitars.
The next no - no song for the acoustic guitars shop will definitely be "Playing God", finally topping the "Stairway To Heaven". Please see for Animals As Leaders' "Brain Dance" live version for alternative. ;) The band's guitarist and founder Tosin Abasi taught Tim Henson on the thumb / fingerstyle playing.
Is this meant to be plugged into an electric guitar amp or do you plug into an acoustic amp?

1 thing i will recommend from a classical guitarist that plays steel string acoustics from time to time is to buy a classical string set with a wound G string. Alvarez makes a set or 2. La bella also. Not only will the G steing stay in tune far better but sound richer from an electric or acoustic player's point of view.

You may want to try out those french strings savarez crystal or something is their elite string $30 or something but if that guitar has decent musical wood it just may sing with those that’s my question how much resonance does it have naturally I know that is hard to record so I’ll rely on ur opinion
Best thing I ever did, guitar wise, was have a pro set up all my guitars. So much better.

The intonation issue is probably mostly a technique thing, nylon strings require higher action and react differently to pressure.

I understand that this is not electric guitar and the string action will be higher. @@jbank7547 yep basically I got the aeg ll Ibanez which is basically same thing but is a little more like yng Mal, model with a little bigger body so you can play unplugged and get a pretty decent sound
