- A beginning to end playthrough of the PC Mode, normal type, of Sega's 1996 Windows 95 port of their arcade hit, Daytona USA.
God I love this game's soundtrack!!
I recorded this from within Windows 95. The game does support 640x480, but my ATI 3D Rage II doesn't like having so much asked of it (and decides within a minute or two to freeze in protest), so I have it running at 320x240 with the "vast" setting enabled so the draw distances aren't quite as awful. One my favorites as a kid at the arcade, and quickly became a favorite on the PC when it came out a few years later! It might not be so pretty (thanks to Sega's pretty extreme lack of proper optimization/lazy porting from the Saturn), but it certainly retains every bit of playability that the original had - especially when using a Gravis Gamepad Pro like I did here :D
The game was running on a P200 MMX w/96meg, and the recording was captured from the Rage's S-Video out.

How do you insert initials or names at the end of each race in this version of this game?
You just steer to move the cursor and the gas button picks the letter
Okay, I actually figured it out myself when I read the game's manual. Thanks anyway!
BTW, sorry for the late reply.
5:25 Look at the bottom of the screen, they didn't even remove the Sega Saturn controllers from the course select screen lol
It's a Sidewinder controllers too right?
@@TKFTGuillotine the Nvidia NV1 was an adaptation of the Model2 3d system. Had a port for saturn controls. Also with some tricks is possible to connect those controls to parallel port.
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

NintendoComplete boo boo skaaaaaaaaaaz

I remenber playing this on PC and toke me ages to figure out the keyboard controls,,,circa 1997
+Gray Fox ikr! Didn't help that digital controls on Daytona are super twitchy
NintendoComplete yep , using the saturn analogue control pad yelp , but there is nothing better than a real steering wheel
This is the Sega Saturn verson that got ported to pc
yeah but we added a pc mode for a reason and it will be better than the arcade version.
Such a classic.
I put this CD in my windows 10 PC and it just works, No dosbox or compatibility mode needed, I'm surprised.
Does it have music?
@@elluciano5808 Yes, that rolling start noise happens.
Wow, I didn't know that PC Daytona could support 640x480, since I haven't tried it or tried seeing if it was possible to access it (Or maybe I actually use it at all but can't tell). But I also saw that you aren't using it either. I just wonder how this could look on a higher resolution that normal.
TheArcadeStriker It looks a lot sharper. If you hit Alt in-game it'll go to the top menu bar and you can pick from a drop-down menu option
Game: Daytona USA Deluxe
Deluxe has a different theme song
Did PC Daytona have "special name music" like sega saturn and arcade version?
Do you think you could help me try to install Daytona USA on Windows 10? I'm having a bit of trouble installing in here...
anyone mind to share where to download this game nowadays? I have the cd version but doesn't work anymore after win 95 :( thanks!
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Daytona USA Deluxe dowload free available at IGG Games.
PC versions are all horrible Saturn ports :(
very bad conversion
Yes but Daytona USA was really really advanced at the time in the arcades and Saturn is not that strong at 3D.
considering the average PC of the time (and this port demanded a fast CPU too) couldn't really do much as far as 3D games were concerned. It's not easy porting a game specifically designed to be the maiden game of an extremely expensive but powerful arcade board first to the Saturn, and then porting said Saturn code to PC. This port looks and plays better than the Saturn version anyways
