The biggest thing that will help you with cold water trout is slowing way down and getting a lot less erratic with your lures. Those fast, quick jerks that trout love spring through early fall aren't what they want in winter. A slow steady retrieve with soft plastics, a slow sweeping pull on hard baits followed by 3-8 second pauses
Thank you, I really appreciate the wisdom there!!! will be after them again today and for sure slow will be key. Fished yesterday and believe I was moving to fast. Got some but not much.
Thank you I appreciate your kind comment! Yeah, when the area loads up, I guess they can load up good but it was loaded with gar that time. Going to try upper B creak this weekend, the deeper holes should be loaded right now!
As far as sides scan goes, it’s kind of a new thing for both of us. Captain Mike was borrowing a friends boat as his boat being worked on. It’s an amazing technology that I would love to learn more about. For sure you can tell what they are just by looking at them. That’s something I want to invest in the future for sure.
@@davefish84 yes its a great tool. Sometimes its hard to see trout unless its a decent school and you have to look for shadows. Gar and bait balls show up very well. Good luck next time you go, you may very well see us if you are fishing next week.

We found out the next day when we were out again that the trout were around the bridges on the main river big time.

I feel like its hard to work a mirrolure or hard bait sitting down in a kayak. Just my observation but on a boat its much easier
Yes I agree. It’s hard to get the rod angle, right. I’m still working on it and trying to figure out how to do it better for my kayak.
