Hey Jon great video, after working your troll battery that hard always a good idea to check the water level in the battery for topping off with distilled water
Headed down to Venice chasing the elusive ducks and definitely wanna chase some fine specks but hard to do both as my buddy has fine Surface Drive with 40 hp Mud Buddy motor and not much room for fishing rods,at least not the baitcasters I typically use and NOT willing to take a chance breaking fine Duckett or other equally fine casting rods!Probably gonna head back down later after duck season ends to lend a hand helping buddy construct fine room connecting his camps!
How deep was the water next to the rocks. Ive been thinking of going tomorrow but I dont have a gps trolling motor (no spot lock). Is it possible to get an anchor down?
@@JonMillerFishing That was my other concern. Im not so sure my little danforth anchor will hold in that current. I may go down tomorrow and explore the marsh off of the other passes. Ill report back.
Really nice trip. I fished there 40 years ago and it is often non stop; just too far for 15 fish. Your concern for ship wake is appreciated by experienced boaters. If you’ve never been close (closer than 1/8 mile) it is an awakening experience. They suck a tremendous amount of water toward the prop and can leave you grounded only to be waked by the returning water. STAY ALERT AND AWAY. In spite of all that your video makes me want to go back.
I FISH THE SKINNY WATERS OF SOUTHWEST LA. THESE BOYS PUT ON A SHOW. GREAT STUFF. THANKS!
Great video
Insane! That kind of action is worth the drive any day.

I am using lithium iron phosphate batteries now. I haven't heard if there is anything that requires servicing on them.

Nice river fishing

It's not that deep, 15-20 ft. After my battery died I tried anchoring in that current, with limited success using a heavy box anchor.

If those ships or tows are pushing upstream you'll get some waves from the prop wash
You need to get one but not a 12 volt. 24 or 36 volt
