Thank you all so much for the kind words! To me, there is still no other feeling in the world like playing Van Halen, recording and listening back. This is just pure fun and excitement for me, every time! Cheers!
Man I hate myself for not being 10% as good as you…keep rockin!
Everything on 10? Or dial bass back sounds great mine gets too mushy with everything maxed.
Can we get more details? Just cranking it all the way, as I understand it, doesn't come up to the gain you'd want. That's why Eddie used the Variac, right? Or did you put a boost in front?
Greg Germino told me you have the best Van Halen “right hand”. He is correct.
You do a good job of reminding us how lucky we are to have lived at the same time as EVH.
Few people succeed in capturing EVH's groove and nuance. You, good sir, definitely HAVE both!
incredible playing my brother...absolutely killing it
Yeah no doubt about it. Stellar…come to Tampa!!!
Damn!! That amp+you+that Kramer… could this be magic, or could this be love?
So this is love?
you know that magic often does
Could this turn tragic, you know that magic often does…….An I see…..😮😂
He’s definitely the one, but he’ll be runnin’ with the devil if he experiences a loss of control.
My guess is magic, because he ain't talking about love
I saw Ben Eller doing his level best to cop the opening of Hang 'em High a few days ago. I have nothing but respect for that guy and the work he put in on that one only to fall short of his goal because Eddie. You though -- holy crap you've got that swing, you lucky dog. Love this!
That’s because Ben Eller is a bedroom guitarist
@@trevorhelmsley388
Where do you think Jacob started? All his early videos are from his bedroom. He just has the ability and feel of EVH. Plus he figured out the right combination of amps and effects.

I really think you are one of the few guitarists who can replicate Eddie Van Halen perfectly. Congratulations Mr Deraps!!
Everytime i hear someone play these songs I'm reminded that just one man wrote all of them so so many hits its actually unbelievable
This dude is unbelievable… simply the best van valen player out there. Every single lick, the tone, the riffs, the picking is insanely spot on.
I've never seen anyone who has nailed all of Eddie's subtle notes/attack. You're truly a gifted player!
Good Lord.... Jacob - about as good and close as anyone ever got.
Just absolutely ferocious. There is NO ONE that plays EVH like you do.
Truly incredible. It's like listening to the studio songs with Ed's parts isolated ("guitar only"). Holy crap.
In the words of the late Chris Farley - That was AWESOME! Killer tone, and feel (as usual since Jacob was a kid on his dad's youtube channel)!
One of the only guys on RUclips that truly knows/feels Eddies work and can actually replicate it on a guitar. You can see it in your face. Awesome stuff man. Never stop learning and growing your chops. Nailed it!
Best Eddie tone I have heard to date. Crunch and brown sound on point. Closest phrasing to Ed's I have heard as well.....amazing.
Absolutely phenomenal brother! I'm 59, and started playing a year ago. I now know ( through bitter pain ), how incredibly difficult it is to practice endlessly to come within even the same orbit as your skill. I tip my hat to you...evil genius!!!
Man, I could listen to this all day! Well done.
As much as you probably hate being flagged for copyright, it has to be such a compliment they didn't notice it wasn't Eddie. Sick renditions!
To those few out there that believe EVH to be only a great solo/shredder..., cut to the "Beautiful Girls" beginning at 7:15. That might be some of the besr rhythm playing ever recorded. Thank you, Eddie. You are missed!
Just fucking sick. More than just technically sound, I can see and hear the reverence and joy in your playing. Long live King Edward!
Thanks for keeping Eddie alive in our hearts ❤ 👍🏻
Im glad to see the music i grew up with is in good hands.
I play that Mean Street intro better than 99.9% of people on RUclips, but Jacob, you just really have a nuanced syncopation that’s really even better than Eddie did it live. That’s as big of compliment as I can give.
That's kind of pretentious, could you post a cover of yourself playing it ?
Prove it bub
Joe Satriani admits he flubbed it on Howard Stern so it's not always success channeling your heroes
@@billschwenke790 Totally agree... Two things. #1 Joe shouldn't get hate, which he has been... No one is truly going to play like Eddie, even Jacob. #2 I've tried for over a decade because Eddie is one of my heroes, and I still can't play one Van Halen song properly lol.
OUTSTANDING!!!
You've got the EVH swing!
Eddie Always Smiled When He Played Guitar.
Don’t know how I just found this but damn…catching all the small bits of Ed so perfectly…just awesome
man you are absolutely killing all these riffs
YES!! This is as close as any mere mortal can sound like the great EVH! No one comes closer than Jacob to capturing Eddie's feel and swagger. I wish he would have played " Romeo Delight" in it's entirety.
EPIC!!!! There is a Guinness World Record for most awesome compilation of VH guitar playing in there somewhere.
Wow spot on dude nailed the tone and feel
Well worth the 14 min + the times I went back to re watch!! So spot on with your amazing tone and unreal playing!! To me, Beautiful girls really shines when you played that!! So much feel, all the small intricate parts and muting were all there and the emotion you put into your playing and all the other tracks as well Jacob!! Thanks for sharing!!
I remember when I was 16 and was ice skating (hockey) and the guy behind the counter said check out this record I got, then he played it a on a 5000 watt sound system. Their first album. I was hooked ever since.
Romeo Delight still gives me chills
Jacob is playin’ very good VH stuff like not many can. Love it! Lots of passion here! 👌 🤘🤘
this is pure enjoyment!
Wow! Always a pleasure to hear you play Van Halen. That rawness and control is crazy! Good job!
Man, Full Bug is one of the best VH riffs! So F-en Cool!
Just amazing how many great licks EVH had, especially since he wasn’t an instrumentalist. Loved watching this!
Now we know where the soul of Eddie lives in… insane blast of guitar playing ! 🤦🏻♂️ On the “Mean street” intro, we close our eyes, it’s like listening to the record… As we say in French : “Tu déchires mon pote !” Thanks 🙏🏻
Unbelievable! EVERYTHING is perfect! The tone, the feel, no detail left out! Simply amazing. Also, I've never seen anyone do The Full Bug before, that was absolutely jaw dropping.
Hi, i am still learning ,but have listened to EVH a while. What is The Bug ? is that the Tapping w/ Thumb also in Mean Street Intro ? Thank You/ Please be nice people. Just trying to learn lol.
@@teriakamoto it’s the song “The Full Bug” off of the Diver Down album
Wow, so awesome to hear tunes not often covered , dude deserves more than a thumbs up !!
Dude, you got that magic EVH groove. So, so, so hard to do. So good.
I just love watching you jam. Best EVH licks out here. #VHforEVHer
dude you are NO JOKE, fuckin killing it, you are right there with eddie, you have nailed it better than anyone ive ever seen, incredible
Absolutely killer , I’m learning from you ! Thanks 🙏
Oh lord, that Little Dreamer solo was incredible. No one channels EVH like Jacob. What most impresses me about your playing is how fine tuned you are to the subtle nuances of Eddie's playing style.
The best EVH covers are yours
That was awesome 🎸🎸👍👍
The 14 minutes of raunchy rock n roll bliss the world needs right now!
I love every single video you have shown us. Thanks, and keep rockin bro
Most accurate Eddie tone/playing/attitude that I've heard since I first tried to figured out what was going on as a 16 year-old in 1980.
Thank you for carrying it on. That is all. :)
(you just need to look happy all the time like Eddie did, instead of angry LOLOLOL )
This kid just gets more and more incredible every time I see him!!!!!
Simply one of the best videos I have ever watched!!!!
You,Jacob have the blood and the brain of Eddy van Halen you slay man Edward Will watching you from above and give you more vibes and riffs but you also a great Genius 😎👌🍀
Wow Jacob. That Kramer sound and tone is basically dead on bro. It's hard to believe that you could actually get any closer to nailing Ed's sound, tone and feel. But. Yes. Yes, this is about as close to Ed's rig, than anything else I've ever heard. Yes, most of my very best examples are, Deraps, old covers. Now it's very clear why Jacob has shown that he can't seem to put this guitar down. Well, now your going to have to get at least one more Kramer after listening to this !!! Ridiculously good Jacob. This is a definite 10 !!!! ❤😮 The Master!!!! Showing why he is the undisputed master of everything VH or Ed based.
Thank you Jacob for my needed Van Halen pick me up.
You are incredible. I have never heard anyone play these songs like this. Totally awesome !!! Keep up the great work !!!
Your attack is relentless. I am a big fan. keep it up!!!
A lot of players get the notes but not the nuance and swing which was a huuuuuge part of what made Eddie an icon. Love seeing that you get it bro
Very authentic Brown sound and GREAT playing!!! Thank you for sharing
It all sounds so easy and absolutely perfect - utmost respect and the selection corresponds exactly to my favorite songs 👍👍👍
Man… what a freaking talent!! Carbon copy. Close your eyes and you can swear this is an isolated guitar track of Van Halen. I’m a drummer since 1980… started as a classic piano student when I was 5 but grandma kept gifting me with records after a good lesson 🥲
That’s how I got my first 8-track cartridge of Van Halen on my 8th birthday…. March 1978. That been said, I’m a HUGE fan of Van Halen. Keep the excellency on your chops and never stop. Those first six albums are pure greatness of American rock. Music is life, keep the beat forever. Thank you for sharing it🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼😊
Jacob, brother, you capture Eddy, and every little nuance to his songs better than anybody on the planet! I love listening to somebody play. Somethings so ingrained in all of us, so perfectly from one of their musical idols also… killer job, Jacob! I got to say dude you blew me away with the intro of mean streets….perfect…. I hope you guys bring your van to Denver brother I will definitely check you guys out.
Will always come to this video to hear expert playing, tone, fun, and a reminder of why we play guitar. Thanks again Jacob!
I think 1984 is the best album ever. It was always on the dash of my 84 dodge van and likely in the CD player about everyday until I lost my license. I am the Bondi Drummer and I would love to play music with you dude... You kick ass on that guitar. 🤘

The tone, taste and tenacity.
Beautiful.
It’s a Hell Yes from me. Outstanding
Incredible 😮
Just absolutely mind blowing how good this actually sounds. There will never be another Edward Van Halen but damn this playing is unbelievable. I don't think anyone does this stuff better. Josh also does one hell of an Alex too. Nobody gets Alex right. Thanks for keeping my youth alive.
Wow, this is HEAVY EDDIE all the way my friend, hours of practice is the only way to reach this level, thanks for sharing 👍
That was killer. The Mean Streets intro 👌
What a great player, and in regards to capturing the tone, swing and feel of EVH the best I've ever heard
That Swing! 🔥🧨
You should definitely consider covering Nuno Bettencourt/Extreme songs. You’d kill them! Much love dude!
Damn I wish I could do that, freaking awesome
You have literally channeled Eddie’s energy into the songs. I can’t imagine how long it took you to master these songs! Mad respect! ❤
Only wow wow wow wow! I love his Video! Thanks for sharing it.
I close my eyes and I am transported back to my youth. Thank you, you really effen rock.
The best Van Halen tones and covers I’ve ever seen. Period.
As long as there are kids who love Van Halen, humanity will be safe.
Apart from everything else mentioned, the fact you play these unaccompanied and it's grooving so hard that you can feel the band.is impressive. That I feel was Eddie's biggest asset as a player - his sense of rhythm and time feel - like a drummer thinks
Wow your playing is awesome!
This video is just another shinning example of why Jacob is the greatest Van Halen cover guitarist in the entire world. Jacob is deffinetly the very best. Its really not even close if your looking for the very best Van Halen cover guitarist in the world. Jacob is miles and miles ahead of everyone else when it comes to covering any VH song in the world. Jacob is hands down, the very best, of the very best. Number 1, and Jacob is all by himself at the very top !!!! ❤
Eargasm! And that Hang'em high intro....Flawless!
I just got one word for you jacob…..awesome
¡¡Your way playing guitar & beautiful kramer is very good, magic sound of 80s!!
The Full Bug!! Unbelievable! I luv this song. Perfect Jacob. Thanks
God bless you!
I've been on the fence about getting a Germino Headroom 100. This video convinced me! Sounds awesome!
Hey Jacob. I know you have addressed this before, but. Could you also mention which Ernie Ball brand of strings your using in that Kramer for this video, as well as what type of pickup is in that Kramer. I'm fairly certain your running 9 -42s, but I'm curious about exactly, which Ernie Ball strings you prefer, because there are many different kinds to choose from, and whether you are replacing the 42, or any other string for that matter with a slightly thicker gauge. Hopefully, you will see my post and drop us some answers to these 2 important questions brother. I'm so damn proud of you and Josh and William for what you have all managed to accomplish so far in your early music career!!!! It couldn't happen to three better guys than you three. I'm continually praying for your bands continued success, as you all climb that ladder to the very top !!!!! 💯👍❤️🙏❤️🌍
Great playing and an amazing endorsement for Germino amps. Greg makes great stuff
Superb playing great time too 💪👏👍
I found myself doing the basslines.
Hell, you did HANG 'EM HIGH and THAT riff is nuts. Well done!
You know why we love this❤ and you are yust the best in those the funky rock rythem and lead parts from eddie. Its amazing Jacob! I listen with much pleasure thnx man! Come over to Holland or Europe. I’ll be there👌
Dude that passion in your playing sets you apart. You can tell you just love playing
Makes me smile
Not just a guitar hero .. a complete song writer! Missed!
Hell yes! So on-the-money I could hear the rest of the band in my head.
Oh my what a find. Gift….💯🙌🏻
ahh the VH medley ive been waiting for
I can listen this for hours. And I regret I can't play guitar because these songs look like they bring so much fun when played. If I could play, I would fool around with VH riffs all time only. Awesome tone and execution, godlike!
I played "You Really Got Me" live (the first time I ever played guitar live in my life) back in Waterloo, IA in 2016....on someone else's Kramer hockey stick, on someone else's amps....with a drummer I didn't know...and a bassist that was just winging it, and the singer jumped on stage after the first riff and sort of just took over.
It was probably a horrible sounding cover as I had a few pitchers of beer in me at the time....but I can honestly say I finished the whole song, solo and all, and no one boo'd.
I haven't played live since....not for lack of trying...but the music industry is filled with flakes and jackoffs that say "yeah bro, we'll do it!" and "trust me!", and all the cliche shi* people say and do not follow up on.
