    I always assumed Egg Hunt must have been a band that existed very briefly and then fell apart, until I finally read the story a couple of years ago: Ian and Jeff Nelson flew over to the UK to have a face to face meeting with John Loder of Southern about their Dischord Records European distribution deal going forward. Loder let them stay at his place for the weekend, which was huge and had a nice 24-track studio. They hashed out the distribution details on Saturday. On Sunday, they had nothing to do, and Loder told them they could use the studio if they wanted, since nobody else was using it that day. Ian and Jeff went in and recorded two songs, Loder let them keep the tape and they flew home on Monday. Ian thought the songs were pretty good, so he released them as a 7-inch single. The Sunday they were recorded on happened to be Easter, so he named it Egg Hunt. It was never a band or a project per se, it was just Ian and Jeff fucking around in a studio for a few hours because they could.

    Great summary. Great footage. Really love the enthusiasm and dedication as you truly are a dedicated super fan. BUT it's interesting how in your narration you seem "flabbergasted" at how and when Fugazi never go for the big cash grab money bag. 💰 Ever. Especially very early in their career. Um, yeah. That's exactly the type of band they've always been. It may sound impossible these days but not every band gets together for the chance to become millionaires. Anyone would get that sense about them if they saw their INSTRUMENT documentary. Directed by their friend Jem Cohen. And released a couple years before 9/11.

    There are some Albini mixes of their In On The Killtaker album on RUclips. He used roughly the same mixing style as with Shellac and Slint. It sounds nice on the instrumental tracks, but horrible everywhere else.

      There's also not supposed to be some missing lyric in the break. The take on the demo has a false start of the first verse. Why make a video about a band you clearly don't listen to or know anything about?

  • @woody-xm5ve
    @woody-xm5ve 6 месяцев назад +1

    I believe the female backup singer was Mary Timony. Also I saw them back in 2019 at Ft. Reno Washington DC live (event they organize every summer since the 80s I think) they called themselves Coriky minus Guy and Brendan but with Ian's wife in vox/drums.

    In on the killtaker is in my top 3 of all time. Loved the composition and energy and spirit of this album. I like how it is meant to be listened all the way through, same with red medicine. Fugazi were a great band. Ahead of their time. Not punk really but the spirit of the whole thing is very punk. D I Y. Keep it simple stupid. Ian is the real deal. They don't promote their art but still managed to sell 300,000 albums. I don't know how many albums they ended up putting out but they were all pretty good. I want to listen to all of them.
