Honestly i think its pretty cool to see a once niche genre like shoegaze get a revival with a lot of bands adding a grungey/nu metal twist. And at the same time bringing to light older bands to a new group of ppl.

love to see the love for they are gutting a body of water! A few others that are mostly to the shoegaze side of things ive found are: Computerwife, Asian glow, parannoul,wisp (popular on tiktok)candy claws,hello mary,pretty sick,knifeplay,panchiko, lsd (which could ig be fit into the more classic shoegaze).I think alot of the audience that listens to the ones you mentioned listen to these.

I would also reccommend see through person they are a great emo/shogaze type band altough they only have 2 very short EPs out so far

Really good video, I can tell you're starting to get the hang of it, I really like the editing on this one. Honestly never heard of "zoomergaze" before this, but it was interesting to see what bands fell under the genre.
Thanks man. Zoomergaze is more of a joke term but its music is really good. I believe nugaze and dreamo are the most similar things to it
It's not even a genre though. It's a mashup of several genres.
Nice Vid - personally I'm loving the whole modern shoegaze revival going on currently, lots of great bands coming out. Side note, while I like American Football I can agree with points on their first album with some parts feeling drawn out. I honestly think their second and third albums get slept on with a lot of great songs as a whole.

I honestly don’t mind people finding good music through stuff like TikTok instead of on their own. If they find it at all then that means more people get to enjoy it :). I’m not a gatekeeping weirdo about that stuff anymore and it’s very freeing.
Ikr, finding shit on TikTok is the reason good music gets big these days. Because TikTok culture is awful people just assume it’s a bad thing but it’s pretty great tbh

i was so gagged to hear gfx3c on this list-- to me theyre firmly in the 5th wave emo scene but i can see why you would put them on this list
As someone who adamantly refuses to use Tiktok, Instagram ect. I always felt like a massive hipster when it came to music (Listening to Drum and Bass and Jungle as a child in the US was very isolating lmao)
My first taste of Shoegaze was Kinoko Teikoku 10 years ago, and I slowly got more into it over the years. Spotify was what really pushed it to my top genre thanks to all the new artists being brought to my attention, and I'm honestly okay with the sudden revival

PLSPLSPLS LISTEN TO FEEBLE LITTLE HORSE theyre literally NEVER talked about but they are literally my favorite band of all time.(also i feel like they fot the bill really well here) Please yall i am actually begging. ToT plz dont call it zoomergaze that name was just a joke from another channel, especially considering the majority of the stuff listed was not made by zoomers or even in the last 10 years. Idk obv seems like nbd but it totally has the potential to eclipse and muddy the real diy history of all the genres/scenes this hypothetically describes 😢

welp, its depressing to see ppl use the term earnestly, let alone reactively. I don't disagree with ur premise, a genre name can come out of anywhere and become legit, and this one is such a meme, it could totally stick, its just SO forced, misleading, and (imo) cringe. but also, to address ur point, spotify didn't invent the term hyperpop, which just emphasizes the importance of not spreading historical misinfo about real stuff other people did/are doing just cos it feels good to do so. If you wanna start a band and call it zoomergaze, god love you, and I bet it'll rock, but no need to foist that name upon other ppl's bands, especially if you love them and its just for the lulz
I have to mention my dead girlfriend and paranoul amazing emotional bands from Japan and South Korea respectively they both create brilliant shoe gaze indie soundscapes!

Beach House is definitely not shoegaze. I'm not a zoomer so I was just curious what this whole zoomergaze thing was all about. Interesting to see that gen z lumps in some of these bands into shoegaze when some of them are definitely not shoegaze at all. This whole "genre" name just muddies up a lot of the history and genres of some of these bands.
@@jthymesthree602 that’s just how it is sometimes. I’m sure in time people will look back and be able to separate it into different categories (new or old). I’d say Beach House is more akin to dream pop

Yeah… first, im into a lot of these bands and will definitely check out some of the others. I do think this is interesting. At one point music was about the bands and now everyone is making it about the listener. It’s so weird to try to make a genre by lumping together genres that a listener might listen to. I guess it speaks to the playlistification of music. A person puts together music they like, disregard the genre they previously were, and call it all one new genre. I mean, people realize people from previous generations would listen to multiple genres too, right?

I’m actually not sure! Salvia Palth isn’t their real name so it’s possible. Sadly most of their music is way too dramatic and tryhard but I could see them trying to mimic that sad grim tone
