Hi Justin, I tried to cut a curved rectangle through a rectangle like you did, however I didn't get the option for Cut, Instead I basically got a tail coming out of either end! I'm not sure what kind of things determine whether the cut option will be there or not. Thanks in advance, loving the series
This is only part 4 of the getting started series and it probably doubled my knowledge of Fusion 360!! I did what most hacks/hobbyists do, started using Fusion 360 and googled what I needed to know, making a ton of mistakes along the way. Not to mention wasting a ton of time with trial and error. And although I gained marginal skills using Fusion 360, I decided to go through this series and I have palm-slapped my head dozens of times! I wish I knew about you and this series in the beginning!! THANK YOU for your contribution. I'm a fan now big time!
Been wanting to learn how to make models for a long time and finally decided to do it. Found these videos and I've found them to be exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for taking the time to make these for everyone. They're a very good combination of length, detail and structure.
Another winning video! Justin if I might make a suggestion, what beginners are lacking is a concrete way of applying all these terrific skills and techniques to an actual instructor-led project. This would solidify the understanding of how the tools work and commit them to mental "muscle" memory. Just a thought. Keep up the terrific work!
I think it would be helpful to see the sketches expanded while you were doing this to see the new sketches you're creating in the list. Do they persist? Can you reuse them?
Thank you so much. I've been trying to reach myself how to use fusion 360 for a few months and this is one of the better tutorial on fusion ive seen. Don't use keyboard shortcuts because even if you say what the command is, newer users don't know what it does, looks like or functions like yet so it makes it more difficult to follow along
That's a bit tough - honestly the best modeling practice IS to use keyboard shortcuts, and I want to encourage people to use them, which gets tricky if I don't use them in videos, but I try my best to describe what I'm doing as well
Wow your tutorial is so straightforward and clear. I just love it. I listened to other tutorials and they just confuse you by being overly complicated for no apparent reason. Thank you very much
I've learned in 10 min what I couldn't in hours ... Thank You ... I Subscribed with out doubt ... Thank You again and Please keep us on a loop with everything you do ... 👍
You sir, simplified and solved a problem I was working on for a couple days.. Thank you so much! it was so easy, I just overlooked adding a sketch on another plane then making my cut.. you're freaking awesome.
For anyone unable to see the 'cut' operation after extruding, it's because you haven't specified dimensions for the rectangle sketch. Use the 'Sketch Dimension' tool, keyboard shortcut D to define dimensions and after that, the revolve will show the 'cut' operation.
It IS great i learn a lot with you ! I have a problem i try to cup a component witch IS a copy of an other one ant it cuts both how do i do ? Sorry if i don't speak so good english thanks for answer
Pls Help:I tried to do hole in object i opened in fusion but when i want to click on cut it say:NO TARGET BODY FOUND and i cant figure out how to cut into the object(but when i tried it on sam object as in video it worked normally)
Great tutorial!!!!! I have a question. On the first part where you have the hole. I need to open up the hole, so remove the mesh there. How can I do that?
i have a specific case question maybe you can help; how do i make a 2d sketch on a surface made out of multiple circles with lines connecting the outer edges a single shape to extrude?
Bet you dont know this. Say you have a block on fusion 360 and you want to delete a pear shape out of it. Above you have the pear floating there. If you lower it down into the block you can see its shape in blue highlight. How to delete the shape out of the block though?
I love your tutorials but holy crap. Every time you say, "Well lets say..." it means buckle up because you are going to press a whole lot of buttons and do stuff we never talked about really really fast and i have to pause and rewind twice or three times to catch what you did. I like the faster pace of your tutorials but sometimes you just jump to light speed doing things you never showed us.
I like your Videos but you say they are for a beginner . You start out at a resonable pace but as you near the end you start to go too fast. I even have a separate screen to follow you that I stop and start to emulate your drawing. But you seem to be under some time restraints at near the end of you video and do not include all the steps to complete the project. I know you know what you are doing , I am trying to learn. Repitition is the key until you have the concepts down fast. I am always able to do the first part but always struggle near the ends. I suggest break up the videos or slow down. I suspect another reason is the version of 360 we are using. I have the latest free version. You i suspect are using a teacher version and I find the commands on screen displays differ. I know that is not your fault . Please slow down . Maybe redo some of the beginners lessons with newer version, Thank you
Hi everyone! I'd love to hear a bit about how you've used the cut operation in your models - let me know in the comments below! :)
I need it to remove a bad part of my design... thanks for the vid!
This was incredible! I can't believe I made these shapes!

Hey thanks for the help! Just started with Fusion and needed a hand with the cut tool.
Best cad tutorials ever
Thanks man! I know this is an old video but you just saved me so much time and effort!
Glad it helped!

Ah amazing, I literally came here to comment as to why I couldn't see it, so thanks
@@jake4381 Yeah it took me a while to figure that out -_- haha
So helpful for a beginner!

Hi i'm new to CAD, your videos are good instruction. one thing i was trying to practice was how to use the sweep tool through the cylinder.
Thanks Mike - appreciate the comment!
Amazing! Id love to see it in a spiral and how to precisely control the cut in a spiral on a cylinder .. much like a screw

Thanks dude. Nice tutorial which helped me a lot with my first project!

Fantastic tutorial, thank you! This is going to be very useful, I’d almost given up looking for a way to cut a gland/race for an o-ring. SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you to sharing your knowledge. Regards from Brazil.
really straight forward idee learning a lot from you
Other excellent lesson. Thanks
Good Video. Learning alot. Just a question, are you related to Jim Varney? Maybe its just the hat, but you look kinda like him.
nice presentation
Good ponts

Is that the Sketch? Can you hide the Sketch in your outliner?
what would you do if this man broke into your house
Nothing in 360 is the same as in this video. Very aggravating. I just want to cut a section away from a ring.

Don't do that thing in the intro. It's annoying.
