Now on to the tune.... I'm with you on this 100%. This song is just so badass and has almost everything an electronic music lover could want! A bouncy, pulsating sequenced bass line, melodic hooks, amazing vocals, great drum programing. It's such a piece of ear candy, ain't it? I forgot right now if there is one but I should could use a 7 minute extended mix of this track!
Yes everything there ❤thank you so much for reviewing my favorite Ace of Base song that I still play and used to like 15 years ago get made fun of for just still jamming out to at parties hahaha time really changes things. To be fair there was so much heavy and industrial and dark taking on and trending in the mid oughts and the weird new metal that I also liked so it was really fun transitioning to stuff like this from the '90s for the new kids
A repeating theme with Ace of Base throughout their discography is remixing and rewriting. The main reason is because the difference in tastes of music or at least the perceived difference in tastes of music between Europe and America.
Hey man yeah I decided to reconfigure my collection bc it had way too many songs scattered between different singles and other types of releases. Now I just have the main album as Disc 1 and all the extras as Disc 2. Any concerts from that era will be disc 3, 4, etc... Much easier to organize too.
So now that you’ve basically listened to the whole US Album, what will be next? I’d recommend to listen to those songs left off from the US version: „Münchhausen (Just Chaos)“ from the European Album and „Moogoperator“ which was unreleased back then but later resurfaced as a Bonus track on a re-issue of the album. I wouldn’t go through the hundreds of remixes there are from Ace of Base. 😅
Linn, short for Malin, is the blond lead singer, Jenny the dark-haired singer. They are sisters. Linn has a more soulful voice, very unique, while Jenny‘s voice is more „pop“, I’d say. Jenny will take over as lead vocalist from the third album onwards.
The band lost something special when Linn decided to just be a backing vocalist from the third album on. Her vocals made these songs work. "Dancer in a Daydream" exemplifies why this is so. It's the mixture of contralto vocals and high notes: the vocal range between "I guess you see..." and "Ooh-ah-oh" is huge.
@@TheRetroGuy2000 She had some leads on "Flowers' too.But she sadly went more obscure and away from the public eye.I also like a lot, her prominent vocals in the chorus of their later song 'Da Capo".
@@alexioverdo5225 I'm not satisfied with one or two lead tracks per album. Sure, "Ordinary Day" and "Whenever You're Near Me" have great lead vocals by Linn, but it's not the same as on Happy Nation, The Sign, or even The Bridge. Linn's voice sold millions of albums.
@@TheRetroGuy2000 As much as i Love Linn’s vocals I do believe her doing less gave Jenny the chance to shine. She surprised me on „Flowers“ which was like a totally new Jenny.
@@adamlewis3729 Hi Adam.On Matt's video it starts on 3:23.On Stranglers official it's on 0;13.Just the keyboard sound they used, not the melody.I love both songs btw.

Every ace of base reaction deserve that I see you, regards
Enjoyed your reaction. Linn's voice was in fine shape, here. Great dance track.

That’s why we need to guide Matt through this journey or he‘ll end up with „Whatever you‘re near me“. 😅 ;)
@@pascal-Z Ikr! I enjoy more than LIAF.

Linn's got a fine cool contralto voice.

The keyboard sound they used heard in the chorus must be the same one that The Stranglers used on 'Midnight Summer dream'.
I just checked that song out but I don't hear it. Do you have a time stamp?
