    Hahaha, what an hilarious reaction, so fitting with the song! 😂🤣 Lucca gives her contribution even off camera and sets the tone at 00:24. 😹😸 I have watched that bit half a dozen times and I burst out laughing every time. 😅 Like Shell, I feared this might be a more typical Christmas song, giving in completely to the spirit of the season, but thankfully it's typical Mags. 😇 I didn't expect a Christmas song to make me laugh like this one did. 😁 Marjorie and Shell have already saved me the trouble of giving you some context about this song with their great and detailed comments 😉, so I will just say what a fun reaction this was and thank you for it. 🤗 Loved it! ❤ One of your funniest, for sure. And wow, you got the sequence "Ho", "Ho ho", "Ho ho ho" at first listen! 👏 I didn't, of course, and only noticed it when I checked the lyrics. 😜

    Bawahahaha! I have to admit that when I saw his IG post and said he was doing a song "Giving Into Christmas" , that he wanted to do this as an "apology" to people "offended" with "White Xmas Lies", I was hesitant. I was worried, actually. I so love "White Xmas Lies. I was afraid that this was going to be cheesy and disingenuous. Needless to say, I had nothing to worry about. 🥰 This song is perfectly Mags to the core. I was laughing all through it cause I could feel the sarcasm. I completely lost it with the last line and was cracking up laughing with tears even. 🤣🤣 Oh yes and going from one Ho to three is gold too. 🤣🤣 I believe the auto tune was used to add onto the fakey lyrics and vibes. It went perfect. As soon as he started to sing, it felt very country to me and his voice here instantly reminded me of the country singer "Tim McGraw". It is a little cringy to me because it's not his real voice, but I can get over it for the humor of the song. I really love it. I do love "White Xmas Lies" more, but it's all good. To me, it's kinda like telling people who were "offended" by that album to well, I will be blunt here, get a life. This is Magne's style and why should he conform for other people? I mean, if they want the more traditional stuff, they can go listen to the zillions of stuff out there. Let Mags be Mags. I love my "Furugrinch" just the way he is. 🥰🥰 Let's see. Majorie did talk about what was said in the podcast a bit. No new cool words. He did mention that his family has moved past the having to give presents to each other phase. They donate to charities. That's my family too and what I feel this season is about, helping others and having quality time with loved ones. ❤The two questions for this podcast were what 's your favorite Synth. This was over my head for I know nothing about Synths. 🤷‍♀ He talked about quite a few. I think Matt and Handsolo would enjoy this part. The second question is if you had to give the album an emotional color, what color would it be? At first he said between blue and purple and then decided it was a rainbow. So I do love this man, but he is confusing me a bit here. I thought he was releasing songs to coincide with his podcasts. The first two did. The number three podcast talked about a song called "White Horses", but he released "Giving into Christmas" instead. That is talked about on #7. Now, today, he released a song called "World So Strange", which is #4. Where is "White Horses" ? 🤷‍♀🤦‍♀ 😅 I was listening to the new release with the coinciding podcast every Friday. Well, the first two Fridays. Now it seems I have to kinda figure out which podcast goes with the release of each song. Whenever he does finally release "White Horses", I am caught up on that at least. 😅 Ah well, keeping it exciting, huh? Hmmmm.....🤣🤣

    I remember listening to this album in 1992 and being very surprised with the sound. Surely didnt expect that after The Lion & The Cobra and I Do Not Want......the previous two releases and at 21 and without any proper background in that kind of sound I guess I was not prepared for someone like Sinead having a go at such type of classics with the full orchestral backing. I think she managed to pull it off though.

    This is pretty amusing as one can never quite believe in Mags as a Christmas “grinch” in the first place, even though in the past he has written some pretty gloomy stuff aimed at the tattiness and commercialisation we now associate with this time of the year. It’s fun and very Mags’ tongue in cheek humour…pretending to half-heartedly be giving in to Christmas whilst probably secretly rather enjoying it, especially now that he has grandchildren who really make any family Christmas celebration special…regardless of whether the family is religious or not. He also mentioned in the accompanying podcast which is currently airing online, that he decided on this track also to “give in” to Autotune…to make somewhat smoother sounding his vocals…as was noticed right away. I think like most of us probably do, I prefer the scratchier less smooth normal Mags sound to this, but it’s interesting to note the discernible difference it makes when used.

    OMD are a band that had arguably the one of the finest runs of singles throughout the decade and Never Turn Away is one of the few that never caught on with me and its the one I consider the weakest of the bunch......or could it be that I simply didnt give it a decent chance ? The highest position of no. 70 on the UK singles charts certainly says something about it. Quite unusual for OMD in 1984 to have such a commercial let down of a single. Could also been that the song worked very well within the context of the album, but maybe it wasnt really single material after all......

And also, in the original cassette version of Faith, the B Side is a very long instrumental track, "Carnage Visors", an incredible piece which they used on Faith's presentation tour as an "intro" (they made a film that accompanied the music), it's long but it's worth listening to at least once in your life

    I was just watching season 11 of American Horror Story in which this entire song was featured. It was quite intense and a perfect fit for the scene. Ps. I have said this before, but the only two truly essential songs to react to next (because they form a bridge between Faith and the next album Pornography) are the single Charlotte Sometimes and it’s b-side Splintered in her head. The Carnage Visors soundtrack is not adding any value right now in terms of their development imo. I can’t wait for your next Cure reaction!

    • @a.k.1740
      @a.k.1740 День назад

      From my point of view The Carnage Visors soundtrack extends the gloomy feeling of Faith but goes further, and in this is remarkable in its way of extending a depressive atmosphere without words. "Charlotte Sometimes" keeps the desperate atmosphere of Faith but with a slightly pop side added, as for the almost psychedelic "Splintered in Her Head", it is closer to the disturbed and confused climate of the future Pornography, the reason why I probably never liked this B-side.

    Robert Smith said about "Faith": "I don't think I'll ever write a song that'll ever move me as much as Faith, that'll change my life as much as that song did, or encapsulates a period of my life as well as that one does." The inspiration behind the title track to Faith is: "self explanatory, as optimistic as I could get, it does, or should, offer a note of hope". Matt, don't forget that the original Faith cassette formats contained "Carnage Visors: The Soundtrack" on its B-side, which I remind you was a 28-minute instrumental illustrating an animated film (by Ric Gallup, Simon's brother) that the band would use as an opening act during their 1981 Faith tour, actually called The Picture Tour. So basically, this long instrumental piece is an integral part of Faith and is in the same grey soundscape with a very hypnotic atmosphere, which I invite you to listen to!😉
