    I think recently Brennan Lee Mulligan made a character with "Largest single hit damage" as a goal for a lv 20 one-shot, and he landed on a Bunny Assassin-Paladin-Sorceror. He also combined sneak attack and smite, and did a lot of work to bump his initiative to ensure he went first in combat. I think it's pretty cool that you guys had similar thought processes to combine sneak attack and smite, but still landed on different builds.

      Not to rip on BLM, love the guy, but he was given like 3 incredible powerful items of his choice. 1 being the Legendary sword of Zariel which is the best martial weapon in official 5e, he even gave up sneak attack to do it as that sword isn't finesse. Also grabbed the Giant belt that pumped his STR to 25 i think. And then his 3rd item was the butcher's bib which increases Crit range to a 19 or 20. and it wasn't "most damage in a single hit" it was "most damage in a single turn". As he had fighter levels for action surge. Was a hilarious build though and averaged like 450 damage in that one turn, but was sorta crap after that 🤣

    If a player did Saitama in my game, I would just have them start off as a level 20 monk, while the rest of the party was level 1, and then give them extra stats as the party level ups. I feel that would capture the feel of just being too powerful compared to everyone else.

    Quick correction: At 10:51 you talked about Eldritch Smite, but you have to be a 5th level Warlock to take Eldritch Smite, which would take away Death Strike, so the damage calculation on this part would be a lot less.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 года назад +3

      You could probably still get it with the Eldritch adept feat, but either way you're right the calculation is off because you wouldn't be able to use as high of a spell slot even if it was allowed using that

  • @dndbuilds
    @dndbuilds  2 года назад +7

    I just had to figure out how to take out any enemy in DnD with a single hit, with the biggest possible critical hit. So here's Saitama, in DnD
    EDIT2: Also realized, you could even incorporate Booming Blade as well, giving you EVEN MORE... damn, that's a bunch more points, that are practically unneeded at this point lol, this would add another 3d8 to the hit or 6d8 on a crit (30 damage on average or 48 Max, before any multipliers) this could have gotten us to OVER 1000 DAMAGE!!!
    Edit... Again, I did miss some of how the level requirements worked for Eldritch Invocations, most of the build still applies, but you may miss out on a few bits
    other improvements to the damage could happen on a team like getting Holy Weapon cast, which would boost you even more... but like I mentioned... that might just be overkill lol 😉

    Damage numbers in Star Wars 5e can get insane. Some of the item modifications can do stuff like improve damage die on certain classes (the Rogue and Paladin equivalents can make their respective Sneak Attack/Divine Smite damage die scale up to d12s, which is insane) or make something more likely to critically hit (with item modifications and feats or subclass features, it is possible to critically hit fools on a 16-20. The equivalent of Elven Accuracy isn't limited to one race so if you get that, I'd say your chances of getting the crit are basically guaranteed). Brutal Critical isn't limited to just Barbarians in this game, it's also become a weapon property and as for said class, their item mods allow them an extra Brutal Critical die per item mod and an additional +1 to Rage damage.
    Feats like Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master get a rework in this game also. Instead of putting the player at a static -5 to hit for +10 damage, it scales up with their proficiency bonus so a character at level 8 with SS would be at a -3 to hit for +6 damage, for example. By 17th level, it'd be a -6 for +12 damage and if the DM wants to take the campaign past 20th (which for a homebrew rework for DnD 5e in a galaxy far far away is possible), it'd be -10 for +20 damage at 30th level (at this point, I'd bank on the players having their attacking stat go past the 20 cap whether through class features, items or cybernetic augmentations. Without the power attack, they're effectively one shotting low level mooks with each successful attack roll on average).

  • @richardstewart8240
    @richardstewart8240 Год назад +1

    Quick note: You mentioned at the end about the venom build, that you can't Smite on an unarmed strike, which is correct. But the natural weapon you get from beast barbarian counts as a simple melee weapon. So you could totally smite with the bite, claw, or tail attack. Which is absurd to think about, but fully within the rules.

    • @dndbuilds
      @dndbuilds  2 года назад +1

      I think if you took the Eldritch adept feat you could still pull it off. Because you still meet the level requirements and you're able to grab that invocation. But when I run a lot of numbers I do run the risk of missing something a little more, so I probably should have mentioned it.

    9 Levels of Monk (Way of the Sun Soul Subclass for Smite Damage + Burning Hands.)
    9 Levels of Rogue (For that sneak attack damage.)
    2 Levels of Cleric (Grave Domain for that Double Damage.)

    Okay, you inspired me to beat your number. I got 718 total. Protector Aasimar Hexblade Warlock 12, Paladin 2, Grave Cleric 4, fighter 2. You would need two actions in combat to activate, but essentially you activate your Radiant Soul and cast a Hexblade’s curse on your target as your first action. Next action you do Action >>Channel Divinity: Path to the Grave | Bonus Action >>>Banishing Smite | Action Surge | Action >>> Booming Blade. So assuming you get your Crit on a 19 or 20, that becomes:
    4d6 Slashing from a Greatsword (24 max)
    8d8 Radiant from Divine Smite (64)
    12d8 Force from Eldritch Smite (96)
    10d10 Force From Banishing Smite (100)
    6d8 Thunder from Booming Blade (48)
    +1 for Improved Pact Weapon
    +5 Charisma Modifier
    +6 Profiency Bonus from Curse
    +5 Necrotic from Lifedrinker
    +20 Radiant from Radiant Soul(Total of +37)
    (24+64+96+100+48+37=359)x2PoG

    17 assassin 2 cleric 1 warlock. bugbear as the race, 9d6 sneak attack+2d6 surprise attack from bug bear, +1d6 hex curse which also gives them disadvantage against death strike and its a bonus action so use it before engaging just like path to the grave, 1d8 rapier, then crit for 24d6 and 3d8 with piercer then add prof from hexblade curse for +6, +5 for dex, take fighting initiate for +2 for dueling then double for path to grave then double again for death strike which totals out to 724 max damage correct me if my math is off, then if you use critical role you take the cruel feat for an additional +6 which can be doubled twice as well and you take vital sacrifice which will give you an additional 2d6 which will be damage dice so crit is 4d6 and then doubled twice which is going to be +24 for cruel and +96 for vital for a total 844 max damage. again correct me if I'm wrong, now this would take a lot of prep but so would the build here and the goal was maximum possible damage in one strike.

    I personally prefer my 3 samurai, 2 paladin, 15 swords bard elven double-bladed scimitar build with her boots of haste.
    Here is how Miria Lathalas, chosen wielder of the Ancestral Blade of Five Seasons goes to war:
    Turn 1, bonus action Holy Weapon, click boots of Haste, run in.
    Turn 2 Fighting Spirit (or if another ally is flanking then natural advantage so I get to keep my bonus action attack for a total of 7 attacks). 2 attacks, hasted attacks, bonus action attack, action surge 2 more attacks for 7 attacks, but here is where it gets interesting (and crazy)
    Rolling with triple advantage for each due to Elven Accuracy, averaging 2 to 3 crits over the 7 attacks (rolling 21d20 to hit total). Each hit is with Two weapon fighting style, great weapon fighting style, revenant blade feat, and great weapon master (double blade plus feat makes it a two handed finesse greatweapon) double scimitar deals 2d4, which with great weapon fighting style lets me reroll 1s and 2s so damage looks like this, assuming the average of 2 crits and all 7 hits (that is the average lol)
    18d4 (10d4 for the 5 normal hits plus 4d4x2 for the crits? Rerolling low rolls)+18d8 (same formula but for Holy Weapon)+10d6 (college of swords bardic inspiration)+4d10 (use the full inspiration on the crits)+25d8 regular divine smites+20d8 from crit smites+great weapon master and stat mod for another +15 per attack for another 105 passive damage.
    This is a total of 18d4+10d6+63d8+4d10+105 in a round.
    This is a MINIMUM of 209 damage, assuming every single dice including rerolls rolled 1.
    Theoretical max damage on this roll would be 789.
    If she were to crit all 7 attacks and roll max on all her dice this would amount to over *1100* damage in a round.
    And this is without any weapon enchantments.
    Drop 2 levels and down to 7th level spells for Path To The Grave from taking 2 levels in Grave Domain Cleric and you could boost this even further. I didnt as it wasn't flavourful for Miria, but you absolutely could.
    Even without a nova like that she has crazy average damage just from basic attacks, high AC, high mobility Counterspells, healing from her 3 classes and is still a full caster with 8th level spell slots.
    Its I'd say arguably the most broken build I've ever played/devised and she's goddamn terrifying but I love her lmao (not just for the build but her backstory etc too she's just been great fun)
