Bad disc at T7,8 and 9 radiating around the chest and into the xiphoid process causing EXTREME pain.5 years and every test under sun but an MRI on my spine
Just curious, is it nerve pain radiating around? And is it constant or does it happen at random times? I’ve been having that issue for the past 8 yrs. I’ve been told it was shingles, I’ve gone through months of PT. X-rays are normal,, and I’m finally getting an MRI tomorrow. I’m starting to believe that the doctors think I’m crazy. It’s worst pain in the world when it flares up, and usually hurts for 4-5 days straight, then starts to ease off, and when it’s completely gone, the areas that were affected, are numb to the touch, and remain that way
Thankyou doc.. Causes your explanation i can make right diagnoses and i can realease chronic back Pain my client with yoga therapy technic and i combine it with Thai yoga technic therapy.. Thank you so much 🙏
Very helpful video, Doc! I'm trying to chase down what to do about pain in the thoracic spine. The XRay led to the Doc diagnosing DISH. I've had a stiff mid-back for a long time, but is just started getting painful recently, and I'm a very active person with good posture habits. He explained how my insurance company will push back on the MRI without trying PT first for a while. In my case, I have a high deductible insurance plan and I can pay for an MRI myself for $560. Life is short, I'm 60 and I want my Dr and I to both have all of the data needed to attack this problem correctly, which is why I'm getting the MRI done on my nickel in just a few days. I realize that I probably have DISH, but the MRI might also point out something else that is amplifying the pain. I figure in this case, you can't have too much data!
Praying that all is well if not better at least and that you got the test results that you so desperately needed. I just found out yesterday that I have Thoracic Arthritis. Luckily, my insurance nurse called me and will be calling me today so I'm going to ask her if they will help cover the cost for an MRI because I had the x-ray done for the diagnosis so I got that out of the way. I work at a warehouse lifting 10 lb weight scales and I lift between 4 to 8 at a time thinking I'm getting paid to workout. 😉😁 I thought my chronic chest pain was from heartache after losing my two 44 year old siblings within 9 months of each other. Now I know it's the Thoracic Arthritis. 🥹💔🙏🙏🙏
xray first, then CT and then MRI. Depends on the problem. That is what your insurance will make you do. A CT can do the 3D post processing which is very good at diagnosing problems with the bones... but if you have a disc issue or tissue issue you need an MRI. If you get one at a center that has 3T MRI, it can be done in 10 to 15 minutes.. it's what I do every day. no contrast is needed unless you have a hx of cancer and they think it might have spread.
I've had back pain around my thoracic spine chronically for over a year now. I often feel it around my shoulder blades, up into my neck. and even right around the spine. I sit at a computer a lot for work but I go to the gym to lift every day which is where I initially got an injury a couple years ago. I was doing an incline bench press and on my last rep felt my back and neck tighten up really stiff and couldn't really move it. Recovery for this incident lasted about a week at which point I felt fine and was back to my normal lifting. A few months later I had the same injury swinging a tennis racket overhead. Same recovery. The third time I hurt myself doing a dumbell overhead press and this time the recovery was different. I could tell I had injured myself worse than before and it felt like something back there was wrong. Ever since then I've had the chronic pain and the PT and Chiropractor work hasn't helped much. Any ideas of how I can diagnose the real problem would be much appreciated! Thanks
Quick update. I fixed myself. Did the MRI and Xrays which both showed nothing wrong. Chiropractic and PT didn't help. This might sound hard to believe but it turns out it was all psychological. Check out Healing the Back by Dr Sarno.
I am so glad I found your video. I am a 65 year old female. Before November2021 I had never had significant back pain but I had a terrible fall which started me on this painful journey. I have been through several orthopedic physicians. The MRI’s didn’t show anything other than a typical 65 year old back so at first my insurance wouldn’t cover anything. After nearly 3 years of fighting with them they finally agreed to shots but that very week I turned 65 and my state insurance dropped and my Medicare began so now I essentially have to start the process again. My quality of life is very low. I can work in my garden or home for about an hour then the terrible pain in the mid left region of my back begins and if I don’t sit or lie down it gets unbearable to the point of crying it’s so bad. Laying or sitting for about two hours will “calm it down.” None of the medicines they have prescribed have helped.. celebrex, gabapentin
try toradol. they can give you a shot at the doctors office. It will not cure you, but will relieve the pain. Once you have some back issues that cannot be fixed, you have to find ways to deal with the pain. Toradol is not addictive and you won't get any side effects like you do with those you listed.
What if the young adult had other spinal issues as well? Such as cervical kyphosis with loss of lordosis, with a few bulging dics. Scoliosis at the thoracic level (around the area of pain), with noted straightening of the lumbar spine.
I get terrible stabbing pains in my thorasic area. Also buttocks, heavily left side. Shoulder isn’t bad. Cold weather and standing long, stress, all make it worse. The thorasic is stabbing pains. I have mild scoliosis. Moderate neck degeneration. Had an MRI. Costovertrbral brought up as possible. I don’t have chest pain. This started 25 yrs ago after a car accident. I’m 50 and just got a new MRI. I’m getting training to strengthen. Can get injections. But they helped little last time. I can’t handle working the jobs I have had because standing or sitting more than 30 months can just hurt so much. I’m in decent shape.
I've had pain in my spine between my shoulder blades for years. Recently, I had a brain and cervical mri ordered by my neurologist and the Dr who read it said I have a bulging disk at t2 level. Would this cause my left arm and leg weakness? I have a weak left ankle and spacitity in that leg. My hip on the left side is bigger than my right, and I have lymphedema in my left thigh, too. Thank you for your response.
I have neck, shoulder blade burning pain and my rib feels like they are locking on my right side. I have been diagnosed with slight bulging disc. I'm in so much pain.

How are you doing now? What type of treatment did you end up getting? I have the same pain.
Push for a ct myelogram, my thoracic disc herniation had calcified before they finally found the cord and nerve compression

3 injuries. probably not going to ever be back to 'normal'. You might have to adjust your activities.

Will it never be fixed from a surgery
Would you be opposed to testing out a THOREX roller for this pain?
My thoracic spine is completely worn out and I have a bone spur that's the size of a silver dollar.
