After a long week of being on the road and dealing with idiots nonstop I like to go home and ram four wheelers off the road in ATS as a way to let all my frustration out lol. Since I can't do that in real life ofc...
I hear you I'm like $5000 of real money in, I got a good setup, and still building to make it better but hooked big-time. I love the special transport loads...
ATS was very helpful to me to learn backing before I ever got in an actual truck. My instructor was surprised when I said I had zero trailer experience after successfully backing up a 53ft 90 degrees blind side.
and ATS actualy make it harder (unless you have a full VR setup) for moving your view and controling the truck at the same time my trailer (not semi, but car trailers) reversing skills have gone up since I started playing ATS tho
I used it to practice too. 3rd week of training I blindside parallel parked my pup trailer in 1 min 17 seconds. My company requires you to perform each of 3 manuevers in less than 3 minutes each before you pass the program.
@@Alex-rf1md VR not needed, just $100-$200 for a used or new TrackIR 5 head tracker, which works in ATS/ETS2 .. I used to have one for Flight Sims, feels very natural ..
played for years and got my CDL. right now i'm 16 months experienced and my current beer delivery job doesn't need a lot of backing b/c a trailer is sideload and so i wanted a better paying trucking job so i applied to a food service company where a recruiter or whatever he was wanted me to back into a dock. surprisingly..i couldn't do it so i didn't get hired. it was a very humiliating experience. got back home and played this game for about a week now mainly practicing 90 degree backing to a dock (between trailers as company's portion of road test was) and i'm getting the hang of it. i normally half assed in backing (both in ATS and my job), in between those years i stopped practicing altogether bc i didn't need to and i really regret for neglecting one of essential maneuvers about being a trucker. now i feel like a new driver that doesn't know how to back correctly and it sucks.
I love ATS but I couldn't imagine successfully playing with a keyboard, well done to get that trailer in there! The base game is fun but once you get a wheel, set of pedals, shifter, sound and truck mods etc it really comes into it's own.
@@Myotradventure If it makes it easier for you, you can actually steer with the mouse and it's a lot better than keyboard steering. I've been playing like this for almost 5 years :))
I’ve been playing with a keyboard for the last year and a half. It can be done as long as you got the patients. However I did run out and I bought a steering wheel with the pedal/shifter
When I got stuck indoors in 2020 with the Covid, I started playing ATS. I soon found the keyboard a pain in the butt which took away from the enjoyment of the game. Since I could not afford and did not have room for a wheel, I got a game pad (Logitech version of the XBox pad) and still use it. The game is so much more enjoyable with a controller rather then keyboard. As a former driver, I found the simulator (and ETS2) very relaxing and fun. Enjoyed your video. Keep on truckin!
I have to agree, with respect to using the keyboard to steer; it really is a pain. I still haven't upgraded to a steering wheel, but I may have to at some point. I'm not keen on game pads, tho. Glad you enjoyed the video; it's gotten a much better reception than I expected.
@@Myotradventure a perfect wheel for this game to start out with is a Logitech g920 or Logitech g29 with the h shifter, u will have to buy the shifter separately but the pedals and wheel come together
@@tekbuck9079 Definatly a start, though I'd go with an older G25 or G27, as you can properly put on custom steering wheels. I personally use a 40cm/15.7 inch steering wheel for ATS and ETS. Feels much better in these games than the stock 28cm/11inch things they come with stock.
You make it look easy, Dude. For those of us with no truck driving experience, I can see where being in the business is a great help. When I started in this game, It took me half-day to do what you did in minutes. Now I’m more experience. Have more videos like these please.
You're really good at this for first time playing, it's way better with a steering wheel and peddle setup. Also there's a ton of mods to make it a better experience like how the traffic reacts and real company names and other stuff.
Thanks! I do have a lot of real world experience. As you’ll see in later videos, I now have a wheel & pedals, and in the next video to be published by this weekend, I’ll start getting into mods. Stay tuned!
Blind sides suck on the best of days. Good job at not panicking like we’ve seen others do. Was a driver for 13 years last 5 years as a flat bedder. Miss driving due to medical issues. Oh and like others I found I was holding my breath also. Nice video brother keep the dirty side down.
First video I have seen with this game being played by a real trucker. It will be interesting to see how you approach your deliveries. I can recommend the special transport add on if you fancy some more challenges. Great game for chilling out. Hope to see more soon.
I'm a driver myself (B-train flatbed) and yeah, i agree with the other drivers on here lol. i spend alot of my time off playing ATS and actually i used it to practice my backing when i was trying to get my CDL. and yes, 100x better with a decent wheel and shifter, totally worth it.
I can totally see practicing in ATS for the CDL road test. Well, I've got the wheel & pedals now and I really want to get a shifter in the near future.
@@QALibrary keyboard isnt too hard once ya get your controls setup right, but i gotta admit a good workaround for not having a wheel is to use a gaming controller. everything's just way more fluid
Well done sir!! Keyboard is VERY hard to do, and yes, wheels are expensive. I went with the middle ground - an Xbox controller. Someone below mentioned head tracking - that helps a lot too. There's head tracking units, but they're expensive too. You can do it with a webcam and some free software - RUclips can help you there. I can't drive anymore, and this really helps to keep me in touch with those days. It's not perfect, but man it's close. Good luck and see you on the flip side!
For the music, look 2 options lower, there is a UI music setting. The music setting that you are using is for the music that starts playing when you only have 2 hours left on a delivery.
I’ve been playing ATS since shortly after its release and knew I was gonna love it. You’re the first real life trucker I’ve watched play and I enjoyed it, so I’ve subscribed. Looking forward to more!
I want more of that continent. I myself was a truck driver. Now I drive a truck virtually in both ATS and ETS2. I quickly realized the need for a steering wheel. For a few years now, I've been steering the Logitech g29 with a self-built gearshift, even figuring out how to connect a real truck shift knob from the MAN TGX.
Just stumbled onto your channel and enjoyed watching your first glimpse into ATS. I'm not a trucker IRL, but I've been playing ETS2 and ATS for a long time now and my perspective on truck drivers has changed considerably... I have much more respect now, than I did when I was younger. Like others, I have invested a ton of cash into my "virtual" rig, and I cannot get enough... looking forward to watching more of your content.
For me driver training in a regular car was already heavily focused on not making it unnecessary difficult for trucks and buses, and while I never have let myself got worked up behind one of them, the test lesson in a coach gave me sooooo much new perspectives... (I'm in The Netherlands by the way, so trucks are a bit different here, but wow the slower speeds was something I knew from the industrial area were I had to do most of the driving lessons with all the trucks there, but experiencing how 20 km/h over a speedbump was like a bouncing castle was pretty refreshing)
It is sooo amazing to look at yourself, how happy you are just to some little thing, when you detach the trailer, when you drive. Your passion for trucking is amazing!
19:56 You have the nose of the truck on the intersection, that's why the other cars are stopping. They are programmed to think you are pulling out at that point, forcing them to stop. 29:22 This one is actually easier then you may think. If you put the nose into the open spots on your left for just a bit further, then put it towards the fence as you did at 29:43. Then reverse it into the open spots (see docks 5 and 6 for example) so your trailer rear is going towards the building. Then move out of it going back to where you came from, making a 180 pretty much. Then you can reverse it into the spot you are asked to place it in. You should have plenty of space reversing it in then in just 4 moves (move towards the gate, reverse into dock 5 or 6, move forward and straighten it out, reverse it into the dock you need to) Trust me, it works, and I do it on Euro Truck Simulator where this same company lot is way tighter and that with b-double trailers. (I don't have a drivers license in real life, but somehow I manage to park b-doubles just fine in narrow spots, haha) I currently have 4611.3 hours in Euro truck simulator and 474.9 hours in American truck simulator (think it's obvious I like Europe better, harder challenges there) I drive in both games since October 2018. Not bad for your first attempt on driving in this game, a lot of people would do way worse. Even real truckers I see race, crash and cause all kinds of trouble in this game all the time. So you are doing actually very good, call me impressed. It shows you got real life skills in this and take your time.
I believe it treating this as a simulation of the real thing, so I don't care for the racing & crashing that a lot of other folks do, even though I find some of it funny at times.
I started playing ETS back in August 2008 when it first came out and still playing right up to (ATS), I laughed so hard at this video cause that's exactly how i started out with Keyboard then a control pad. What can i say but 14 years later now i have have a full setup with steering wheel and a shifter with pedals it's way more fun still playing till this day. Mad props on the parking with a keyboard. Keep making videos i really enjoyed this.
Been paying similar trucking games from this game developer (SCS) since 2008. I chuckled quite a bit at seeing you struggle to figure out the game as it reminded me of my early days with the sim. Having the right PC and the right controllers or steering wheels will significantly enhance your enjoyment of the game, and even more so if you join the multiplayer "convoy" mode. I'm looking forward to seeing all your ATS related vids and other content. Safe Trucking!
Can't wait to see more. You did really good. I agree with many here. Steering wheel, pedals, shifter, shifter knob, button box, and a good computer make this game fun. Good luck.
I used to drive in the real world. Obviously you know how to drive a truck. You are very patient with it which is something that is rare among people who play this game. Don't judge the game too harshly after your first delivery. It gets better, especially if you invest in a steering wheel, pedals, and shifter setup. I recommend that you go through your "options" pages one item at a time and keep tweaking them until you get what you like. Especially your "Keys and Buttons" menu. That is where most of your basic controls are until you get some " game controllers". I could not play this game without them as I cannot use a keyboard and drive.
Since I recorded this reaction video, I've logged over 200 hours on this game. Steering with the keyboard remains the only real frustration. Just can't bring myself to buy a wheel and pedal set up, tho. Also, I invite you to check out other videos on my channel, which is devoted to my daily trucking adventure.
wow, one can tell you are truly a pro at truck driving cause you got that trailer parked perfectly the first try. And you are right that it can get nerve-racking! Good video, thank you!
@@Myotradventure Yes, I'll be looking into your other videos and subscribing. I heard you saying that when parking the trailer the front tires get chewed up, how is that? Just wondering.
The tires on any vehicle wear over time from just rolling down the road. But, when you are turning your steers while maneuvering slowly, you get even more wear on them. Visualize the tire surface where it meets the pavement; you're not moving, or moving slowly while making larger turns. The tire gets a little more wear in that one spot and over time, this wears down steer tires. Keep in mind, that there's a lot of weight on those tires. Next time I get a chance, I'll take a photo of a steer tire after it's done this; there's a swirl that you can see in extreme cases.
I was a virtual truck driver for more than ten years, I probably exceeded a few of million miles in - games. What I can say is that this was the cleanest first encounter I have ever seen, anyone would`ve guessed you are a professional by looking the way you maneuvered that trailer backwards ;). Nice vid, mate, keep'em coming!
Awesome for you! Just saw you're livestreaming with the game maker tomorrow. You've come along ways! Good luck with it. I'll unfortunately be heading to that rotten publix dc in dacula, GA. Enjoy.
I started with farming simulator. Then moved to this game. I have the wheel/peddles/shifter. Amazing game and now I have a lot more respect for truckers!
Turn signals are your [ ] keys. But you can change your key bindings in the 'keys & buttons' options menu Also you should use the voice navigation if you are going to be a 'distracted driver'. It's helped me to not miss turned a lot.
Look, there are plenty of young fancy RUclipsrs with way too expensive equipment and production teams. But if I'm perfectly honest, I'd rather watch you for hours on end than all of these fancy RUclipsrs. Purely raw content from a trucker! Btw I just found your channel, this is the 1st video I'm watching from you. You seem pretty chill!!:) Greetings from Switzerland! Keep the awesome content coming! I'll keep watching!
Thanks atefxf., welcome to the adventure! I hope you'll check out the other videos in this series as I expand my knowledge of this game; adding a steering wheel & pedals, plus mods. I plan to expand to ETS2 later on, as well.
to be honest - i am not sure why this showed in my main home page BUT i am glad it did. I enjoy sims and this was so laid back, down to earth and no "well this is how you HAVE to do it". GREAT vid - thank you!!
Well, sir; you aced the parking. I have recorded a few of my attempts to park and you nailed it the first time you tried. As others have written, driving with the keyboard is very hard. Great video, thank you for sharing. :)
My favorite game, you are first real trucker I saw playing it, haha I had so much fun watching your reactions and natural instinkt you developed. I learned all of those manouvers in the game, never had the pleasure to drive a real thing. But who knows, right?
You did THAT parking job @ 35:00 your first time out, while I've been playing since beta, and I *still* choose safe parking. On the one hand, I now know it can be done, but on the other, I'll never be that elegant. One tip: overhead camera (3) helps the reverse parking in tight spaces scenario. 2nd tip: turn signals are the brackets. [ = left, ] = right.
Well, I AM a truck driver. The idea of pushing a button to avoid doing a proper backing job into a dock door is just unthinkable; although, there have been a few times IRL that I've wished for that power. 😏
Currently in CDL school. Just got ATS here today I’m actually pretty impressed on how it represents alley docking and other maneuvers. I can’t wait to start my career in trucking!
You oughtta try it in VR! I ran Triple displays for years and took the dive for racing. ATS in VR is even more immersive. Sure you still have to deal with the stupid AI, but you can actually look over the dash off the end of your nose to understand your actual placement. I was bored enough I stood up and walked backward, and I could basically stand in the sleeper or sit in the passenger seat. For reference points: My machine is over-built for use with iRacing in a higher-tier league (I'm a B-list driver, honestly) AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, AMD Radeon RX 6900XT and 24GB of RAM. I use an old Logitech G27 wheel rig. It's got a 6+1 position gear box (Reverse is on a safety lock out, but that wire snapped years ago) and a clutch pedal. For wheels, G29 or G290 are good modern options. Under $400, which is 'budget' for anything comprehensive. You could go up to direct drive but unless you're doing racing, you really have no need for Direct Drive wheels (or their obscene premium pricing) Also bought for iRacing but invaluable in ATS: A Button Box. Specifically, Derek Speare Designs Race King LED. (Premium part, there are cheaper and more expensive options from other vendors). I use it for the ignition, a separate button for the starter, and from there I configured for preference; Safety toggles for parking brakes, tractor drop axles, differential lock, and I forgot the 5th switch function. Two other toggles, one for the jake brake and the other is my range selector for the gearbox. (My range splitter is my Left #3 button on the wheel), and I've mapped my turn signals to the paddle shifters. I've got rotary knobs for: Jake brake strength, retarder/transbrake strength, wipers, in-game radio volume and in-game radio station. The 9 other buttons do lights, Select, and nagivate the in-game HUD Nav, truck dash mode and truck map mode. G27 shift console does the Fuller-Eaton 18 speed gearbox, high beams, hazard lights, and trailer brakes. The wheel and my button box do ALL of my frequently used controls, except the O/S Load beacons. I just flat ran out of buttons lol
Wow! That's a lot of stuff going on over there. I don't know if I'll get into VR, but I can see doing head tracking. I do have a wheel & pedals now, which were featured in a later video. Thanks for the details.
As you've done this reverse parking in real life, I can see your experience being used here - you pretty much imediately got how that trailer tends to react in relation to the truck, only struggling a little bit due to the keyboard controls. I think mouse steering is a pretty good inbetween, if you don't want to buy an actual steering wheel. You just move the mouse left and right to steer. Might be a bit more intuitive. But really, you handled this first hands on really well. I've seen lots of people really struggle with the manouver of backing up a trailer itself while not struggling with the controls.
Thanks! Later on I did try using the mouse to steer, but quickly switched back to using the keyboard. I hope you'll check out my follow on videos to see what kind of steering wheel I got.
Just got this game yesterday and love it so far. Interesting to see a real trucker play it. Xb1 controller definitely makes the controls simple and fun to use, and a wheel obviously the best option but not everyone's got one of those lol. It's so relaxing to come after work and just have a nice drive across a state and back
I absolutely love this game, been playing for years. But I have the upmost respect for you as a real driver. Ty for all you do. And hitting the “M” button brings up your big map. Go into settings and assign your keys for turn signals.
Playing Euro Truck Simulator and America Truck Simulator, is a good way to honor the real life truckers... It's a invisible job that anyone take cares, untill they stop to travel on our roads, and at that moment, they learn how important truckers are! Greetings from a italian virtual euro trucker!
I just recently got back into trucking with a family company in ohio but I play ATS a lot and sometime I have to do a blindside back with some of the docks on ATS [ ] for turn signal
Hi pal! I'm a 59 old and 30 years international haulin from Spain. You just made my day mate🤣 Beside trucker I'm a PC gamer (good one) and watching you struggling with the setup (specially the fokin music🤣) was so funny. My wife told me I have something very wrong inside my head: "When working you're driving a truck, when home you're driving a the fokin pctruck, man, what's wrong with you?"🤣. Well, I love so much this shity job that I can't stay "inactive" to much🤣. Hope you found already by now how to manage correctly the game and have fun with it. If no, just let me know and I will give you some easy-awsome-good tips. Wish you the best, big hug!
Thanks El Kamynante, welcome to the adventure! This video was from months ago. I've come a long way since I recorded it. Be sure to check out some of my more recent videos. Also, while I understand why your wife would say that, there are many of us who enjoy ATS and ETS2 after a day of driving for real. 😀
Yes! I'm subscribed. I've been playing this simulation since it game out. I learned a lot just watching you park the trailer. IRL I was a subway motorman (I didn't have to steer anything).
it is very strange seeing this game being played without any mods added to the game - this game must have 100,000s of modes where it older sister game must have a 1,000,000+ mods
It's fun watching you try to figure this out the very first thing I did was look over all the settings and set everything like left turn/right turn etc. The one thing you didn't do, that you should have. (grins) You also did not do a vehicle inspection... (wags finger at you) Esc at any time put you on hold and into the menu area for keyboard and other OPTIONS adjustments. It's like watching a teenager having his first driving lesson. (grins) Breaks are too sensitive. This is frustrating to watch. (grins) I can do this game practically blindfolded and now own a garage, 2 trucks, and 3 drivers, and over $12 million dollars but in real life, I have never driven a big rig.
I just bought the video myself - to have some fun and maybe get a feel for the country in sim form - I've got MFS too - Thanx for showing me a few tips - how wide turns are parking etc. I'm now binging your videos l😄 THAN SO MUCH AGAIN😁
35:50 Sort of the same with clutching in car simulators, whether it's racing or normal: I can't do it, I'm missing so much feedback from the vehicle's biting point and it's "willingness" to want to "go" that I continue to miss the right moment to clutch and engage it. I have also noticed that seeing depth helps a tremendous amount (unfortunately I get motion sick in VR very quickly :P ), along with having a wheel (especially if you modded it like I did so it does about 6,5 turns lock to lock :P).
While I've played the old trucking series 18 Wheels Of Steel for many years, I'm only just now getting into ATS and ETS2. And I did look into a truck driving career a few years ago. There's a CDL school right down the road from me.
As a retired trucker, I enjoy doing this. I have a steering wheel and brake and throttle petals. I don't have a shifter so have it set for automatic transmission. To cheat when maneuvering forward or backward, use the Number 3 key. There is another game, called Trucks & Trailers that gives you lots of practice moving and parking different units in various places. The wheel I use is Logitech made for PS and Desktop. I use the hat switch to look around and other buttons for signals, Hi/Lo lights, wipers, Jake brake, etc.
Awesome job, it's a cool game. I been playing it for a while it's pretty realistic and fun. Nothing beats the real thing though. Just found your channel, stay safe out on the road. Greetings from Florida.
Cool it's very difficult to find someone that plays a simulation of their real life job , im always trying to get real life farmers to tryout Farming Simulator but none of them will do it except one has played it. P.S. thank you for your hard work with supplying our stores with the much needed stuff , our country is in desperate need of truckers a lot of people fail to realize that without men and women such as yourself driving for hours upon hours doing deliveries the stores and businesses wouldn't be able to function.
I play American Truck Simulator regularly and love it. I'm not a truck driver, I work at a thrift store in Florida. I can't afford the fancy stuff other players use, I just use my keyboard. It's loads (pun attended) of fun for me. Can't wait until they reach, Florida.
I drove trucks when I was in the Army Reserve. ATS wasn't out then, but I played GTS, 18WOS, and ETS2 extensively. I remember one time I brought my laptop to one of our month long trainings, and I played German Truck Simulator on it with just the keyboard, because I couldn't bring my gaming wheel setup. It's pretty challenging, but I played it daily, and I got pretty good! Takes a lot of skill with just the keyboard, and you picked it up pretty fast. I was a cop for several years, but I'm getting back into driving. Just got my commercial learner's permit, and I'm starting as a road driver soon. I play ATS a lot, and I imagine I still will, even after I spend all day driving in real life. Nothing wrong about that! I was in the military, I play military games. I was a cop, I play LCPDFR for GTA IV. Haven't played the LSPDFR mod yet, I need a better computer.
There is nothing like ATS with a good steering wheel, button box, real shifter and of course VR. I haven't played ATS or ETS2 out of VR in years. Absolutely love the game.
When you get a wheel, you'll have alot of fun with the sim. I have the thrustmaster t150. It's not a top wheel but works well with the sim and is force feedback. Later I got the thrustmaster shifter. In my opinion the shifter is the best on market. $200 for wheel and $200 shifter too. But might be higher because of pandemic and high demand.
Yeah, pandemic pricing for electronics has been a real issue. As you’ll see in a later video, got a wheel & pedals & griped about how much price fluctuated overnight !
Nice video. I've been playing the game now for about 8 months. I have a high-end wheel, pedals with clutch, and a 18-speed shifter with a real 18-speed shifter knob, plus a triple monitor setup. I also have a custom truck with a full gauge package and custom engine. Logged about 260,000 miles so far. I find the game fantastic to help me towards a CDL. You can actually do an air brake test on the thing.
Driving using mouse is, IMO, the closest to the wheel and pedals. It's annoying at start, but you get way more control and you can adjust sensitivity so it's comfortable. 22:45 is exact reason why I stopped using keyboard. I play OMSI2 (bus sim) as well using mouse.
Job well done! I made many a blind-side docking and it always sucked. I'm surprised you can't get out of the truck to look. That is a cardinal rule for blind-siding..."When in doubt, get out and look"!
Thanks BmacD 2! Yeah, not a fan of blind-side backing. Glad my truck had electric mirrors so I could adjust the passenger side mirror to help along with the window on that side in the sleeper.
I play with keyboard and mouse right now, but want to get a steering wheel. Not sure if I want to use pedals yet though. My dad drove a dump truck (longer trailer variety and double dumps) for years.
@@Myotradventure I had to stop playing ATS because my temp set up I'm to close to the tv, so hopefully today I find a table that would work. How did you get to use your real picture?
@@Myotradventure Well good news I'm back. Found a table that works from goodwill 8.00. I am planning to look at truck driving schools here in oregon. As of this month it is a requirement now. Honestly I'd rather go through training like that just hate that it cost 5,000.00 but to make money you got to spend money and I don't want to give a bad rep to all truck drivers. That's why I want to be trained right. I'll be back on ATS after work tomorrow. I'll check it out on that video.
"Yikes!" I loved it; I hate when they want it there. You have to turn round and blind side it. That's hard with a wheel and pedals and TrackIR let alone keyboard and no head tracking.
I drive a DAF CF straight truck in the UK for a palletized load delivery company and play ATS and ETS regularly, it is quite addictive, and yes AI traffic is derpy
I think at the start you were probably just slightly too far forward which tricked the cars' AI to think you were pulling out into the intersection so they were stopping and then when you didn't move they continued on.
As a real trucker myself I was pretty amazed by it now I’m hook I drive all week just to come home and drive some more 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I’m at a receiver right now wishing I was driving in ATS! 😂😂😂
IKR 😂😂😂
After a long week of being on the road and dealing with idiots nonstop I like to go home and ram four wheelers off the road in ATS as a way to let all my frustration out lol. Since I can't do that in real life ofc...
😂😂😂
I hear you I'm like $5000 of real money in, I got a good setup, and still building to make it better but hooked big-time. I love the special transport loads...
ATS was very helpful to me to learn backing before I ever got in an actual truck. My instructor was surprised when I said I had zero trailer experience after successfully backing up a 53ft 90 degrees blind side.
That's awesome! 🙂
and ATS actualy make it harder (unless you have a full VR setup) for moving your view and controling the truck at the same time
my trailer (not semi, but car trailers) reversing skills have gone up since I started playing ATS tho
I used it to practice too. 3rd week of training I blindside parallel parked my pup trailer in 1 min 17 seconds. My company requires you to perform each of 3 manuevers in less than 3 minutes each before you pass the program.

I love ATS but I couldn't imagine successfully playing with a keyboard, well done to get that trailer in there! The base game is fun but once you get a wheel, set of pedals, shifter, sound and truck mods etc it really comes into it's own.
Thanks! I hope you'll watch the other videos in this series to see how I progress past just using the keyboard. 😉

Yes yes the game comes alive
I’ve been playing with a keyboard for the last year and a half. It can be done as long as you got the patients. However I did run out and I bought a steering wheel with the pedal/shifter
When I got stuck indoors in 2020 with the Covid, I started playing ATS. I soon found the keyboard a pain in the butt which took away from the enjoyment of the game.
This is really helpful advice. I've put those in a list in my Amazon account & I'll do some more research, as well. Thanks!
@@jonasvag5030 ya that’s forsure, that’s what I had before the g920/g29, I got the newer one so I could use it with my console
You can kill the music by turning down the UI music volume below the standard music volume
You make it look easy, Dude. For those of us with no truck driving experience, I can see where being in the business is a great help. When I started in this game, It took me half-day to do what you did in minutes. Now I’m more experience. Have more videos like these please.
Thanks! I've published over 100 since this one, including Euro Truck Simulator 2 now.
Stay tuned!
The laugh when it said to detach trailer and when pressed the keyboard button and the dolly starting spinning and detached real fast was priceless
yes 😂😂
That WAS nerve-wracking! when you said that I realized I was holding my breath haha. I'd love to see more!
I was rather surprised by my own reaction at that point!
Blind sides suck on the best of days. Good job at not panicking like we’ve seen others do. Was a driver for 13 years last 5 years as a flat bedder. Miss driving due to medical issues. Oh and like others I found I was holding my breath also. Nice video brother keep the dirty side down.
Excellent video - great parking. I've only just discovered your channel but it looks really interesting. Great work.
Thank you very much! Great to have you along for the adventure.
First video I have seen with this game being played by a real trucker. It will be interesting to see how you approach your deliveries. I can recommend the special transport add on if you fancy some more challenges. Great game for chilling out. Hope to see more soon.
More on the way!
Well, I've got the wheel & pedals now and I really want to get a shifter in the near future.
having played this game with different steering wheels for years, using the keyboard to drive is one of the hardest things to do.
Oh yeah, it's tough using the keyboard, but I'm not ready to buy a wheel.
@@Myotradventure I brought my wheel for $45 on Amazon and it started life at $150 but a game pad works will with this
You can use mouse for steering also
@@QALibrary keyboard isnt too hard once ya get your controls setup right, but i gotta admit a good workaround for not having a wheel is to use a gaming controller. everything's just way more fluid
It is actually easy but you just have to get the perfect sensitivity settings
Well done sir!! Keyboard is VERY hard to do, and yes, wheels are expensive. I went with the middle ground - an Xbox controller. Someone below mentioned head tracking - that helps a lot too. There's head tracking units, but they're expensive too. You can do it with a webcam and some free software - RUclips can help you there. I can't drive anymore, and this really helps to keep me in touch with those days. It's not perfect, but man it's close. Good luck and see you on the flip side!
For the music, look 2 options lower, there is a UI music setting.
The music setting that you are using is for the music that starts playing when you only have 2 hours left on a delivery.
it's good to see a Real Truck Driver playing this Awesome game! thanks for the video! Keep on truckin' !
Thanks for checking out the video!
I’ve been playing ATS since shortly after its release and knew I was gonna love it. You’re the first real life trucker I’ve watched play and I enjoyed it, so I’ve subscribed. Looking forward to more!
Thanks! Welcome to the adventure.
Lol, i played a leaked and cracked closed beta a week before release and bought it as soon sa IT was on steam 😅
really shows a real truck driver when you can park like that on your first try of the game O.O
Thanks Gab M.!
I'm going to make some more of these ATS videos, so I'll likely have to get a wheel & pedals at some point.
Awesome, thank you!
I guess I do; thanks for pointing it out!
You should have plenty of space reversing it in then in just 4 moves
(move towards the gate, reverse into dock 5 or 6, move forward and straighten it out, reverse it into the dock you need to)
Trust me, it works, and I do it on Euro Truck Simulator where this same company lot is way tighter and that with b-double trailers.
(I don't have a drivers license in real life, but somehow I manage to park b-doubles just fine in narrow spots, haha)
I currently have 4611.3 hours in Euro truck simulator and 474.9 hours in American truck simulator (think it's obvious I like Europe better, harder challenges there)
I drive in both games since October 2018.
Yup he ran over 2 grandparents pushing a stroller, never noticed.
Fantastic insight into the life and experience of a real trucker, thank you very much and well parked sir!
Glad you enjoyed it
I started playing ETS back in August 2008 when it first came out and still playing right up to (ATS), I laughed so hard at this video cause that's exactly how i started out with Keyboard then a control pad. What can i say but 14 years later now i have have a full setup with steering wheel and a shifter with pedals it's way more fun still playing till this day. Mad props on the parking with a keyboard. Keep making videos i really enjoyed this.
Thanks jon mac! I hope you'll check out the rest of the videos in this series.
Welcome to the adventure!
Can't wait to see more. You did really good. I agree with many here. Steering wheel, pedals, shifter, shifter knob, button box, and a good computer make this game fun. Good luck.
More to come!
I Am Sad So I am Standing in A Corner Crying And Watching This.
Great reply, and: +1. :)
@@DavidSteele of course I got the wheel!
@@Myotradventure I saw from a video title! :) The video is queued up to watch. I only discovered your channel today.

wow, one can tell you are truly a pro at truck driving cause you got that trailer parked perfectly the first try. And you are right that it can get nerve-racking! Good video, thank you!
Thanks Jack! I invite you to check out some of my more recent ATS and ETS2 videos.
I've really come a long way since that first ATS video!
Thank you! I am a professional trucker in real life, so that helps. I’ve posted over 250 vids from my time on the road.
Already watched some and I really enjoyed them! Especially the T680 bathing one lol! Going to check them out more in the days to come....
Awesome for you! Just saw you're livestreaming with the game maker tomorrow. You've come along ways! Good luck with it. I'll unfortunately be heading to that rotten publix dc in dacula, GA. Enjoy.
Thanks Charlie! You can always catch the replay.
Good job bud, awesome watching a real life driver do it lol, keep up the good work !
Thanks!
I started with farming simulator. Then moved to this game. I have the wheel/peddles/shifter. Amazing game and now I have a lot more respect for truckers!
Farming Sim sounds interesting to me; I may check it out, if I can fit it in.
Turn signals are your [ ] keys. But you can change your key bindings in the 'keys & buttons' options menu
Also you should use the voice navigation if you are going to be a 'distracted driver'. It's helped me to not miss turned a lot.
Maybe I should turn that on to see if it helps. In my most recent livestream I missed two turns because I was talking to the audience.
You seem pretty chill!!:)
Greetings from Switzerland!

Thanks for watching Sean Hearder! I hope you'll stick around for more.
Just a little hint for the game: When reversing into a tight spot it might be worthwhile using the overhead camera angle.
Well, sir; you aced the parking. I have recorded a few of my attempts to park and you nailed it the first time you tried.
As others have written, driving with the keyboard is very hard. Great video, thank you for sharing. :)
Thanks! I've had a lot of real world experience.
My favorite game, you are first real trucker I saw playing it, haha I had so much fun watching your reactions and natural instinkt you developed. I learned all of those manouvers in the game, never had the pleasure to drive a real thing. But who knows, right?
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope you'll check out the other videos in this series.
That's awesome! I did a tutorial video for alley docking in ATS.
Im currently in CDL school and having trouble with my backing manuveers would you recommend this game for practice at home
Been a trucker for 6months now and I can say it’s a HUGE help
You oughtta try it in VR! I ran Triple displays for years and took the dive for racing. ATS in VR is even more immersive. Sure you still have to deal with the stupid AI, but you can actually look over the dash off the end of your nose to understand your actual placement. I was bored enough I stood up and walked backward, and I could basically stand in the sleeper or sit in the passenger seat.
For reference points: My machine is over-built for use with iRacing in a higher-tier league (I'm a B-list driver, honestly)
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, AMD Radeon RX 6900XT and 24GB of RAM.
You could go up to direct drive but unless you're doing racing, you really have no need for Direct Drive wheels (or their obscene premium pricing)
Also bought for iRacing but invaluable in ATS: A Button Box.
That tutorial is probably just as expressive as swifts training program in real life haha
Nice! Got it in there and some of these docks are really nerve racking
It's so relaxing to come after work and just have a nice drive across a state and back
Glad you enjoy it!
Awesome amazing content!! Keep it going brother!!

it is very strange seeing this game being played without any mods added to the game - this game must have 100,000s of modes where it older sister game must have a 1,000,000+ mods
Hehe, I just wanted to try it out. I've added other states since I recorded this, tho.
like when convoy 1st started and 90% of the players were like "Mods?" Oh Gosh No, that'll hurt my game. :) Now convoy/online with all mods.
😄
I just bought the video myself - to have some fun and maybe get a feel for the country in sim form - I've got MFS
too - Thanx for showing me a few tips - how wide turns are parking etc. I'm now binging your videos l😄 THAN SO MUCH AGAIN😁

Awesome! Just found this and I'll definitely be watching
That's great ALUCARDBOND007 Gaming, welcome to the adventure!
Awesome video! Keep the trucking up, you’re keeping America great!
Thanks!
7:16 Most companies in ATS/ETS2 are based on real life companies.
While I've played the old trucking series 18 Wheels Of Steel for many years, I'm only just now getting into ATS and ETS2. And I did look into a truck driving career a few years ago. There's a CDL school right down the road from me.

That's great Dan Raven, welcome to the adventure!
I downloaded a K100 aerodyne cabover on my game i love that truck. She takes a while to get going when she’s loaded but shes tough
Spoiler alert: I've got a Logitech wheel and pedals now (I introduce them in another video) and I've mapped some of the same things you mention.
Awesome! It would be so cool if you did do special transport.
Stay tuned! 😉

Awesome job, it's a cool game. I been playing it for a while it's pretty realistic and fun. Nothing beats the real thing though. Just found your channel, stay safe out on the road. Greetings from Florida.
Thanks!
Thanks Joseph!
The music in menus is UI Music, and radio in truck is Music
I play American Truck Simulator regularly and love it. I'm not a truck driver, I work at a thrift store in Florida. I can't afford the fancy stuff other players use, I just use my keyboard. It's loads (pun attended) of fun for me. Can't wait until they reach, Florida.
That's awesome; gotta do what you can!
I suggest using the mouse steering as you can manuever the truck more precisesly and keep the steering wheel at any angle/position you want
Wow, that's some serious gaming! Have you considered joining my Discord? There's a lot of gaming going on in there, mostly ATS & ETS2.

There is nothing like ATS with a good steering wheel, button box, real shifter and of course VR. I haven't played ATS or ETS2 out of VR in years. Absolutely love the game.
Yeah, I really want to get a shifter and some type of head tracking!
As a yard jockey at a relatively small FedEx facility with a tiny yard, I feel your pain
Your blinkers are [ for left and ] for right. Headlights sre l and wipers are w and h for horn.
That green sky mod looks sweet.
@@Myotradventure haha ohh yeah I've seen wheels go from like a 400 price point to like half that haha and it's like what the heck....lol...
Very nice! I'm drooling over here! I now have the steering wheel and pedals, featured in another video, and I want more accessories. 🙂
ATS is a fun and great game the more you play the more you learn it is a blast i play and recond videos of you journey in ATS
I did try to use the mouse to steer briefly, but I need to be able to use the mouse to look around. I am so ready to get a steering wheel!
@@Myotradventure that is really a limitation, I agree.

The best steering wheels come with the peddles and I do recommend them.
I drive and I also enjoy this on days where I’m not driving. 😂 Get out of a truck just get back in one lol.
Exactly!!
great job. i remember my keyboard driving lmao keyboard on this game is so much harder then with a race wheel.. i got over 800+ hours in ats.
Thanks! I logged over 200 hours using just the keyboard. If you watch the other videos in the series, you'll see what kind of steering wheel I got.
Im complete opposite lol
I like the determination he had to turn off the music. Love it lol
Like a dog with a bone! 😀
@@Myotradventure I had to stop playing ATS because my temp set up I'm to close to the tv, so hopefully today I find a table that would work. How did you get to use your real picture?
I'm hoping you can get back into it. I think I cover that in the video after this one, or the one after that.
That’s great!
I enjoyed watching this can't wait for more ATS!!
Glad you enjoyed! Based on all the positive feedback I've gotten on this video, I guess I'll have to create some more!
We go on convoy runs with other players Wednesdays with Nick the hick on youtube. Check us out.
@@dixiemay1996 what time on Wednesdays?
u could test european truck simulator 2 it has a really huge map and it has a bigger variety of trucks than american truck simulator
I'll be creating my first ETS2 video once my channel reaches 5,000 subscribers; pretty soon now.
@@Myotradventure can't wait for it because it has a huge map and more Trucks than American Truck simulator so its gonna be interesting
Nice skills, jeje I liked your video, greetings from Nicaragua
Hey, thanks!
I play with mouse and keyboard and am pretty decent at reverse parking, don't really have anything else, but I'd love to try it with an actual wheel
It amazes me that truckers will do this for a living and play ATS too, idk why I just love it.
I know, right? 😀
🙂
I think at the start you were probably just slightly too far forward which tricked the cars' AI to think you were pulling out into the intersection so they were stopping and then when you didn't move they continued on.
Just read every option in "Audio" step by step, then scroll down, i think it's a "UI MUSIC VOLUME" and "MUSIC VOLUME".
Damn! That's the difference between a real trucker and me, you can park. I didn't think you'd get round that other trailer.
🙂
