    My classic Canadian rice pudding is made with arborio rice cooked in milk, followed by the addition of sugar, eggs, vanilla and lemon zest, cooked long enough to make a lovely custard. Add some heavy cream and chill. Luxury rice pudding. : )

  • @grahamcooper3399
    @grahamcooper3399 Год назад +6

    Both puddings look awesome! My version (Canadian) doesn't have the lemon, I'll give that a go next time. I REALLY want that torch in my life, though! :)

      Surely your Canadian version has some Maple Syrup in there somewhere?! If not, why not?! I drizzle honey on my English Rice Pudding but I'm sure Maple Syrup would be just as good - or better!

      It's a very flexible recipe but however much rice you put in, say a cup, put double the amount of milk in. Maybe half a cup of butter, half a cup of sugar. I always sprinkle just a pinch of nutmeg on top I also like it with cinnamon so it put maybe 2 pinches of cinnamon. I've never done it with milk powder but maybe a quarter cup? I've never put lemon in.

    2 hours in an oven with the current energy situation is something I would totally avoid, so therefore option 2 is preferable.

    We in America (and many countries) can't/shouldn't make most all of your recipes because our rice, flour, cereal, oats and grains are enriched with synthetic folic acid which blocks the uptake of folate and a folate deficiency in turn causes a myriad of health issues.

    • @gardeninginthedesert

      Why do they do that?

      @@gardeninginthedesert On the premise that it prevents spinal bifida - works great in mice. Humans do not metabolize synthetic folic acid like mice. Too bad we are not mice.
