- In this metal fabrication video Tubal Cain demonstrates how to build a fender from flat sheet metal for a 1950s custom International metro using hand tools and a wire form for a buck. Stick around for next weeks video when we weld this fender together, planish, and mount it to the vehicle! Thank you for watching!

Thanks cuz!
Amazing skill that not many shops across the world know how to do and do it well. I’ve been on the collision side of autobody repair and I’m learning a ton.
Thanks for the compliment my friend Im glad you are learning! This is a dying art
You dog makes me chuckle he’s got that look on his face when your explaining stuff like he’s thinking yes yes that’s right 😂
Nice work dude very skilled work I’d love to be able to do this , I’ve actually started to gather a few tools together now got myself a hammer and Dolly set yesterday and I’m hoping I can stretch to a welder next month 👍 one step at time I’ll get there !
Hell yeah dude! One step at a time that's what it takes! I'm glad your pursuing it! Keep it up. I'll help anyway I can! Thanks again for watching!
Tubal! You make it look easy. Good stuff 😎
Thank you man!
Great skills. You are a very talented fabricator. Not too many people can do this.
Fantastic craftsmanship. 🍻😎
Thanks bro!
Nicely done mate!
Thanks Paul I appreciate it! Thanks for watching my videos!
Great job, I like it, thank you for your knowledge.
Glad it was helpful!
Sweet as these will look a treat and show off those wheels nicely. Why didn't you like the other guards, they to were very cool. Did you do a video on the building of them by some chance?
Actually I really liked the other fenders! But when talking to the customer we decided we were hiding to much of the rear wheels, so we decided to make new fenders that look a little more like the front and show off the chrome. Also I did take some pictures and videos of the old fender build but I do not know what happened to them! I have searched and searched all I have left of those pictures is an Instagram short🫤. But that's for watching man I appreciate it!
@@BeAMetalFabricator rat rods for Africa is building a rat 39 hudson ute. I suggested he look at your guards. He had cut his up to suit his build, but a similarity in the arch. On the day I said to check you out you released your new rear guards. Ha ha that's how it goes. Hopefully he did look. Love your work it's very real thanks mate.
@@paulnewton943 Yo Paul thanks man i appreciate your support big time! Ill try to post something about the other guards even if its just a RUclips short. 🙏
BAMF is BAMF...Nice Work...!!!
Thank you!
I really enjoy watching this video especially how well the fender turned out! However, I was very disappointed that you did not use the Flexile Shape Pattern rather than the Wire Buck! Keep up the GREAT Videos because you are quite the Craftsman!
I did not have a fender prior to this build in order to make a flexible shape pattern. BUT! If you check out my latest video I make a flexible shape pattern using this fender so I can build the passenger side fender! Check it out. Thanks for watching
Can you please make a video on how to make the fender buck/frame? Just found your channel, it's awesome!
Yeah absolutely!
@@BeAMetalFabricator thank you! Love the stache, perfect timing I came across your channel for Movember. Cheers, brother!
Haha thanks man!!
Is that a nibbler you used to cut the sheet metal?
No I don't use nibblers. The shards get stuck in my Tanks paws. Tank is my dog. Those are Makita throat less electric shears
What gage metal?
Awesome Job
This is built out of 20g
I am not a metal fabricator by any means and I am not questioning your method(s).
Just out of curiosity, wouldn't it be easier to heat that metal up a little bit?
Haha well I'm some cases heating it up could work but heating will warp the panel in areas you don't want warped... In Sheet metal shaping you only heat the panel when your doing some really extreme stuff. Everything is basically done cold most of the time.

Oh, I see.
Good information.
You also fabricated the mock up frame, correct?
yes I built also built the wire form.
Who taught you these skills?
I learned a little at wyotech I have had years of practice and I learned a lot from Wray Shelin from pro shaper
