You are an awesome instructor! I am relatively new to doing research in learning metal shaping and have never seen this process before. Is this something normal in the industry or something you created? Very cool process. I hope to be able to make it to your class someday! In the meantime I'll be watching all your videos and start buying some equipment and start practicing. Thank you for your time in making this content.

I love the extreme at which you go to explaining the process.
I install flooring and have made many, many hundreds of patterns over the decades to fit vinyl flooring. I have a job coming up to fit linoleum (not vinyl), in a bathroom. There is a curved, cast iron tub to fit to.
That's not so difficult. The bathroom has ceramic tiles on the walls all the way down to the floor. That will be the difficult part. It's up to the individual to make the pattern and mark the pattern in his... or her, preferred way.
    Long story short... 😁😁😁
    Flooring installers work in 2-D.
3D knocks me off my pedestal in a nanosecond. 😁
I'm not a metal worker or a metal shaper but just watching the process is total enjoyment on my end. 👍

Actually when Mark traces the marks onto the gauge for the contour instead of using the free hand method you can use a compass that is used to draw a circle. It has a pencil on one end and a pointer on the other end. You lay the pointer end on the fender and the pencil end on the paper that is held against the fender contour. Spread the compass far enough apart to be able to trace the contour in one smooth swipe. starting at one edge of the fender drag the pointer along the contour of the fender and the pencil will make a perfect contour line on the paper.
    Pete

Staedtler (Model # 971 60-24) makes a flexible ruler (curve) that holds its shape so you can measure around curves like this. It has inches on one side and millimeter on the other. I have had mine for 25 years so I think you might have to find old stock.

Trim carpenter of the last 30 years here, have a suggestion.
Use a compass when you scribe.
In this situation, hold the cardboard to the fender, looking for the largest gap.
At that spot, set your compass ( the kind that uses a pencil on one of the legs) being careful to set it to that gap while holding the pencil directly vertical to the sharp leg.
Drag the compass along, all the while making sure you’re holding the two points plumb to each other.
To better understand the reasoning behind this., let’s exaggerate.
Imagine you had a 4” diameter sharpie.
Hold the barrel of the sharpie against the fender and drag it.
The resultant mark will be 4” too long from the top to the bottom of the fender. ( the 2” radius at top and bottom)
Holding the compass exactly vertical, no matter the gap in the compass, , will mimic the curve , just farther into the cardboard.
Minimizing the gap in the compass will be more forgiving of technique.
Trust me, cutting wood to follow a fieldstone fireplace is harder, and watching this experienced guy use his eye and skill to make it work the harder way makes me think he does beautiful work because he clearly has a pocketful of what I call givadam.

I'm new to the flexable pattern system but am eager to try soon as the weather breaks here. I have one question, in watching the video, you say the humidity reactivates the stick and in others you've had small issues with plaster dust. Since the pattern is reversible, could you flip the pattern on the opposite panel and fiberglass what was the inside, as in sandwiching the low stick tape, or would it affect the panel? May also eliminate the fluttering if the low stick overlaps
