Excellent video! Thank you. Regarding the blinking 4WD light, I had the exact same problem on my 2003 Tacoma v6. It ended up being the actuator rod was stuck and it needed to be lubed by pulling off the plastic actuator and adding grease. Also check a vacuum hose that connects to the actuator for being off the actuator or the hose being cracked. Once I did that 6 years ago, I have never had a problem with the 4WD system. The owner needs to put the truck into 4WD once in a while to avoid these problems from happening.
Thank you, Peter. You're a good man. Your videos are very helpful and encouraging. I have that same truck and I hope she lives to 300k miles or more. She's at 180k currently. This school teacher is very grateful for the money you help me save. I wish that there was someone like you here here in Salt Lake.
In my dads garage when i was very young we had a long screwdriver, i have a stethoscope like yours, someone told me once to try removing the belt and momentarily run without it to check the engine. Good video, thanks for sharing.
That bearing was toast. I felt one that had just begun to dry out inside when I changed my serpentine belt, since, although it wasn't very worn, it drives everything. So I wanted a new OEM belt on the vehicle. I took the pulley off, set it flat, and put some motor oil on it. After turning it as it sat flat, I could feel the oil working its way inside the bearing. After a few minutes, I dried off the excess oil & put it back on the old 2000 Expedition. That was about 5,000 miles ago. I bought a new one which I will install someday. That motor oil won't stay in there forever.
Wow, What a Coincidence Peter, I just had to get a Tensioner Pulley Replaced on my 2001 Tundra 4.7 earlier today for the Same Noise (but not as loud as the one in your video) I also had my idler pulley and Surpentine Belt Replaced to, for Preventative Maintenance, , , ,
I have read that they do have a tendency to stop working... my rig has the green clock and 27 years it still works BUT i have noticed on occasion that the right-hand digit appears to be fading on the edges?
I could use any help here I have a 2001 Toyota tundra 3.4 rear wheel drive and my clutch squeaks and creaks where should I start vehicle has 85000 miles on it
if it were this "Fan Bracket Bearing" that was on the edge of failing, how exactly would that sound? i have seen some nasty pictures of it after failure and the potential $1000s of damages done inside the engine compartment... when does it fail what obscure noises will it make to alert you?
I’m surprise Peter for being a Toyota branded repair facility by the amount of made in China or Taiwan lower quality parts you put on Toyota vehicles… kind of disappointing my friend.
Anyone who starts a video with Hello friend is a good guy.👍

3.4 one of Toyota’s greatest engines! Please show more with this engine!
Thank you, Peter.

Yeah I remember using a long screwdriver and I still do. Someday I’ll buy a stethoscope. 🤣

Once you lifted the truck I immediately thought idler pulley or belt tensioner. Good for another 230k miles. I love Toyota.

Peter, GREAT JOB!! Now, how to get the 4X4 light to go OFF?
Thanks for posting Peter. I try to soak up your care and patience when dealing with all your mechanical work and apply it to my own.
You have fixed the truck towards to the front, good work.
Great reaction
Whoa, clock still works.

I knew what it was the moment I heard it! It usually takes me a few guesses :)
Good video Peter, great outcome 👍
Thanks for the great tutorial. Love your channel.
This is exactly the same noise my truck is making! Will go check this now. Great vid
Great video Peter. Thank you once again, Sir. 🇨🇦🇺🇸👍
Good job Peter, I'm a fan but have never owned a Toyota !!
Excellent troubleshooting as Usual Herr Peter.
Dr Petr, to the operating room, good job.
Idler pulley bearing?
I love your channel.
great work sir. 👍👍
Nice job.
I've also replaced once already on my 2000 taco
nice job
Probably wise to just change every pulley possible.
I replaced this ac idler pulley on my rig at 194k when the crank pulley went bad 😞

5:38 I'm glad my car's drivetrain has zero belts. (2016 Prius c Two)
Good. Thanks.

Cool video
Septintine Pully ??? YES I guessed correctly 🎉😊
the AC idler pulley?
❤
I had to replace mine when it was noisy. People usually say turn up the stereo but it wouldn't work this time :)
removing belts should give you a quick answer too
I would call that a cry for help.
Dr Toyota
Would not call that a growl. Would definitely call it a whine, but a bad one.

Fan bracket bearing?
Crank pulley??
