Only thing i wonder about is when the 3.4’s are warmed up and at idle their oil pressures drop to damn near 4 psi.. mine gets down to 3 sometimes according to the gauge.. kinda scary especially with a turbo if its hot .. youd kinda wanna make it run high idle for the turbos sake..
Any thoughts on adding new headers and possible magnaflow exhaust in the future? I think that would complement the taco. I’ve been adding to my taco part by part. No matter what addition is added it’s always exciting
If it doesn’t they make upgrade kits for the MK4 supra auto that will fit, these are stout transmissions from factory so it should hold unless u go crazy with it
Thats a awesome setup. Maybe ill do that to my 1.5 liter 4 spd Tercel. Would make it fun im sure lol. You can jump into traffic knowing the truck is capable of more speed now 👍. How much did everything cost?
Did you have some sort of kit that you used? I have a 96 Tacoma and would love to do something like this I don’t know what brand or where to get the stuff.
I've been trying figure out if I want to go which one I want to go with. Turbo or Supercharger? I keep going back to the Supercharger because I just don't think I'll be able to get enough boost at low engine speed.
Love the truck. I too have a 5vzfe turbocharged truck. I have one question that maybe you can answer. My truck is having an issue going over 3k but when sitting at 3k and I hit the overdrive the truck will go past 3k and hit boost.
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB i shouldn’t have an issue with a restriction because i don’t have exhaust 😂 it’s a straight pipe out the passenger fender. I’m thinking it’s honestly something with my piggy back because the truck came from Colorado and hasn’t been tuned for Arizona.
@@ethanheilmann8599 yeah my truck is auto. And it has the URD piggyback. I’m thinking it’s a tuning issue because the truck was built in Colorado and I picked it up in Arizona and I doubt they had it retuned.
How many miles are on your motor and how reliable is it since you have put a turbo on it? I have a 02 model With 307,000 miles on it. It runs perfect but the power is extremely too little. I’m not trying to make a super car out of my truck but I would love to have a lot more power to get it so get up and go.
It has been reliable and I haven't had any problems yet. I believe it had about 220k on it when I turboed it and it I've put about 10k on the set up so far
Debatable, I did the new Magnuson setup from UDR with 7th injector. Put it in over the weekend with basic hand tools. Night and day 4runner now. Shout out to the turbo setup, love turbos a lot too. For me the supercharger is exactly what I need, no lag and even torque throughout!
Awesome build man! I’m in the middle of my 5vz turbo build but I can’t find the flange you used that bolts to the back of the turbo into the vband. Would you be able to link it?
Hey bro, quick question I've been following you for a minute but I just seen this video. Okay I have the same motor but I have it in a 2003 Toyota Tundra V6 Stickshift you think I can do the same exact system as you did?
were you able to tune the stock ecu or did you get a standalone. Im getting the turbo install all together but my only concern is the ecu, some years of the truck have ecus that cant be tuned and will need a standalone.
First of all, I've wanted to build something turbo for a long time. Second of all, I like the fact that you can grow with a turbo and add power down the road. Third of all, it was considerably cheaper than a Supercharger. Plus it sounds sooooo good!!
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB do you plan on rebuilding the motor to take more power? The stock motors are good for about 8psi. Anything more and you are at a higher risk of blowing head gaskets and things like that. I supercharged mine for simplicity purposes and it makes a cool noise too!
Yea, if I do go more boost later than I will do some engine work but it is my daily right now so I need to just make it drive well and be fun. The Superchargers do sound awesome too!
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB thanks for the reply! also, maybe i'm missing something in your videos but what did you do for fuel management? i know some people use piggyback ecus but im struggling to find a legit option.
Little trick, stick something thru the turbo fins before starting, once you can hold the fins still start the truck oil will flow without the turbo spinning to ensure oil is flowing
@@CRACKEDHOUSINGFAB I have my maf in the charge pipe, and i put my blow off valve (NGR Performance- Greddy clone) right after the turbo outlet before intercooler. Been running a turbo and methanol on mine for a long time. Good to see
This is rad. Thank you for taking your time to make a video.
Just bought a 92 4runner 4x4 and was planning on doing the 5vz swap, I think i'll be making the right decision after watching this
I'm looking into hooking my 4x4 t100 up with this kit 🤟🏽 great simplified vids on this topic 🤙🏽
A MUST FOR MY 3RD GEN 4RUNNER
That flutter sounds so nice.
I’ve just started thinking about doing something with my 2000 4runner 4 Thanks for ideas!
Sean
Love it man! I have a pre runner that I’m wanting to do the 4wd swap into and boost it. Definitely learned a few things from your previous videos
Awesome!! Glad I could help! The world needs more turbo tacos!!
How much you spend or invest at taco I have same 1
I've got a 2000 prerunner I'm contemplating 4wd and boosting it too. It's at 331k miles I'll probably have to rebuild it
love turbos, always gives you a smile
Thays awesome. I would be cool to put it next to my supercharged taco for comparison.
Turbo would gap you! Its already been tested
Is any fuel upgrades needed or any maf modifications
Nice video, gives me lots of ideas. You should have allot more subs than you do by now so I'll add one for you, good luck!!

Idk about these motors but I had a mk3 turbo Supra.. their pumps are low pressure high volume.
I imagine these are similar..
Big boys with cool toys 🧸
I just picked up a '00 4Runner. I needs a bit more power. A turbo may be in order.

How did the cx racing headder pipe fit?
I've heard the cross overs are to short.
Wish I could do this with my taco
Go for it, it's a blast!

Super cool
Very informative video! you actually go in depth with details pretty for everything.

Stock ecu and tune?
At what rpm do you start to see boost? And how is that trim level turbo on the freeway around 3k rpm?

Anywone know if you can turbocharge a 95 t100? Or do you need a 97and up like the supercharger needs?
What did you do for tuning I’m very interested in doing this to my 01 DC prerunner
No tuning the stock ecu can handle low boost
How many more horses did this give your motor?
Was the boost at 2 psi due to fuel cut
Did u have to do anything for fuel

What is the black box in front of your alternator

My truck is having an issue going over 3k but when sitting at 3k and I hit the overdrive the truck will go past 3k and hit boost.
That's a good question, I would do a boost leak check but make sure it's not an exhaust restriction problem like a clogged cat.
if you have an automatic then you need to run a piggyback

Have you had any issues with the MAF after the turbo?
