Why aren't there more mechanics like this one???Why????? I have gone through 6 mechanics, which have been 6 nightmares. This one is excellent, methodical, reasonable, compassionate, knowledgeable, honest, passionate. Not a miserable, oportunistic, disorganized crook. The only good thing about crook mechanics is that they have pushed me to learn, fix and do more things myself on cars.
Hello Miguel you are absolutely right it’s hard to find a good honest reliable mechanic I’ve learnt a lot from this you tube channel I wouldn’t hesitate taking my car/van to Peter to fix or service, shame he isn’t in the Uk 🇬🇧 best regards to you Mark from billericay Uk 🇬🇧🚗👍👍
@@marcusmaximus451 It really sucks that I'm closer to him than you are; I'm here in the US, but still far, far away from him...Not the largest, but this country is still ridiculously big. Thanks for your reply!
Of course a RUclips channel is only going to post a video of a easy fix like this. Maybe you have a difficult problem that's tuff to figure out. If 6 mechanic can't figure it out that's my guess of what's going on.
I love your channel! I have an 89 4Runner and 04 Tacoma and you've taught me so much about maintaining them! You do awesome getting all the details right on the camera and explain all the little things others don't explain. Great channel!
I bought after market custom wheels for my Tacoma...big mistake! Always a pain not very true and took a lot of weight to balance in a couple. Changed them out and couldn’t resolve the issue. 13 yrs later I sold my Tacoma and got a Tundra I’m keeping the wheels stock...Toyota engineers things great and I’ll keep it all stock!
Honest review and “professional” assessment & mechanical repair ..... with a long term fix in the works with the new parts upon the customers next visit ...... I appreciate your videos, my friend!!
Thanks, great video and tutorial, God bless you and your family and business. It’s better to give than receive, you ar giving a lot of knowledge, blessings.
Same thing happened on my 4runner. It sounded horrible every time I hit a bump. I bent the spring just a hair with pliers and called it good. That was probably 20k miles ago.
I have a 4x4 3rd gen 4runner. It chirps when I coast over 30mph, but the chirping stops when I accelerate. I should also note that it doesnt chirp over the summer, but when fall comes around and the rain comes back and gets wet, the chirping starts back up. no mechanics can figure it out. It's really loud. u joint?
Did you figure it out? I happen to have the same issue with a '93 Toyota truck. The chirp (I call it a metal-hamster-wheel squeak) is only when decelerating-- and also stops when i push in the clutch. Any ideas? It doesn't sound like the clunky, horrid sound of a U-joint going out (as presented on these youtube videos, anyway).
There you are I was looking for you buddy , I know if there someone that knows about this issue or restriction I’m having with my 1996 4 runner 3.4L it’s you . So a lot of times my 96 4 runner gets tested by other trucks or SUVs that in other words want a piece ‘ and 90% of the time I get the better of them , but “ why is it ‘ when my 4 runner is pushing 100mph there is something that restricts it and all of a sudden it will stop going then start back again , stops throttling then kicks back on ? My gf Toyota Sequoia did the same thing ‘ but my 98 4 runner and 2002 Tacoma didn’t have that issue or restriction . Can you tell me how can I get rid of that restriction because sometimes it lets the other vehicle that wanted a piece’ catch up “ what is restricting it ???
Great video per usual. I just changed my front brakes on my 03 Tacoma. That part you took out was the other way around on mine, the bend was at the top instead of bottom. Just wondering which was right.
Hello, My father has a 1997 Toyota Tacoma with 315K miles on the original engine. We’ve noticed a small drop in compression, especially noticeable going uphill. What would you recommend to increase the compression, or otherwise remedy this slight drop in engine performance. Many thanks and thank you for having this channel!
I recently bought a 2002 with 272k miles, great engine, new belts, new transmission, new clutch. How do i verify the transfer case is "healthy"? I don't really want to use the 4x4 and risk breaking something without testing it somewhat first. Any ideas? Love the channel.
@Pumpinstein This helps so much! This truck is really clean and i want to give it some new life, been looking for these kind of maintenance things to get done. Appreciate you.
Great video. Thanks for this channel and for helping everyone who is a DIYer! One question - why didn’t you lubricate the pin? I thought some special brake lube would be good where the pin touches the caliper?
I live in SoCal, but every video I watch, I want to bring my Tundra and do ALL Fluid changes at once with you. Oil, all differentials, transfer, transmission. Plus an overall check. I might do it. Send me your number 🤗
I'd kill myself if I was so pathetic that I had to take my truck to a mechanic for such an obvious problem. I own first & second gen tacoma trucks. My first gen has had that problem a couple tines in its 250,000 + miles. I knew what it was within 1 minute of hearing the sound. Neither of my trucks have ever been worked on by anyone but me.

Don't you think the same applies to many other professions? Even in the medical field, being meticulous and caring is lacking in many people.

Great job, your videos are such a pleasure. Excellent narration and camera work. And you have a great shop.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing with us, watching all these videos helps me get better at diagnosing.
One or two of my brakes squeak (and they're relatively new), and I thought rust on the rotor. You just gave me a new lead!
Thanks for sharing this, interesting video.

Right side spring looks bent too. I wonder if careless install of those wheels caused bent springs?
This may be something all us DIYers should watch for. Now, can I remember???
another great video indeed!
My GF's 4Runner had the same issue right after a shop did her brake job. I actually reinstalled it while we were on fishing trip.
Great work finding the noise. Do you ever use a little dab of brake grease on those pins?
Same thing happened on my 4runner. It sounded horrible every time I hit a bump. I bent the spring just a hair with pliers and called it good. That was probably 20k miles ago.
Please do a video on eCVT fluid change on a RAV4 Hybrid when you get a chance. Thanks!
Thanks Peter enjoyed video 👍
Those are very rusty brakes for California, does the owner drive it into the Pacific occasionally?
They are right on the coast so the pacific is already in the atmosphere as salt mist
Thank you for another good video! What is the name of your magnetic work light?
Good job!
What flashlight is that? I like it!
Canyon Overlanding that cool light is from harbor freight

Just curious. Wouldn't it make sense to put some brake paste on those pins to allow the pads to move more freely?

Where are you located?
He is from California. I saw on another video exactly where his shop is located.
Hes in arcata ca
Very good. The thing is here in Scotland thats an hours work which = $100 for a daft wee clip. Such is life though.
We’re is your shop at ?
North California

You are a master of the English language, hombre!
I would like to see some landcruiser content. Preferably 100 series.
I would have gone with the bending of the old part (as the repair); I would skip the new part.

@Pumpinstein Im just scared of forums, you get flamed for not being a F1 master mechanic. But yeah i try and search around there.
@Pumpinstein I own a Tundra. Is there a Tundra forum?
i would replace both sides cause the other one will fail eventually
Why? Should he replace the entire caliper? The entire wheel? There's no reason at all to replace a simple clip on the other side.
@@chocolate_squiggle Cause rust never sleeps.
I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma have had two ball joints break on me in the past two years
LBJs are a known weak spot. Don't go cheap on replacements. Follow torque specs.
My 04 was squeaking in the front and I sprayed WD-40 everywhere underneath and it stopped
nice fix

All those parts should be made of stainless steel.
