You got a BMW turbo already🤣
Scotty doesn't buy new .lol let em age a bit then buy
Im thinking grand national Buick
Spank Themonkey fr. This Acura Scotty recommending is terrible unless it’s had a full rebuild. Turbo is a pain to replace on this vehicle. A decent one runs for $7500-$9k. The ones you see on Craigslist OfferUp etc are beaters falling apart for $2500 to $6k. 🤦🏻♂️
I told you V8s aren't dead.
Bought my 2007 RDX back in 2009 with about 23k miles. Beautiful car in and out. Now it’s at 201k miles. No major issues just regular oil changes and schedule maintenance and battery replaced. I agree with all Scotty has said. However….recently having issues with engine misfire. Lights on dash lighting up like Christmas lol. Hoping to get it fixed. With all things considered this car is pretty solid and reliable the last 14 years.
Yay! The RDX again!!!!
My 2007 RDX has 299,500 miles and runs like a top!!!!!!!!

I just bought a 2008 Acura RDX turbo tech Im really enjoying it it has 180,000 now Ive put alot of highway miles on it🥰
Beside regular oil change ($35 using Mobile1 and Fram ultra XG7317) and 3 new sets of tires. I spent less than $600 for all other fluid changes DIY for the last 14 yrs on my 2 RDXs. I agree with Mr. K, this is one of the finest 4cyl turbo cars that Honda built. This turbo is water/oil cool and was built by Mitsubishi Motors, not a Honda turbo, but it is excellent turbo.
What is real fuel conscumption autoban? 100km liter?
He changed his mind about the turbocharged engine after driving a turbocharged 1994 Celica.
The civic is not turbocharged. FYI

Hi Scotty, just wanted to say I always look forward to watching videos like these to further improve my knowledge with automobiles. Thank you for what you do, and keep doing your thing, we all appreciate it!
I have 2008 RDX. I bought it 2 year old and I drive it for 12 years. 370K on it. Love it in general. All Pros are in the video. Cons are: bad on gas, air conditioner compressor got changed 3 times, turbo gasket gave me a huge problem once. But I put regular in it all the time before and after and it's fine. Also multiple interior "leather" parts needed to be changed or repaired. Noone can figure out the reason of battery drain for years, even though I have bluetooth disconnected. Voice recognition is a joke. Audio system makes some buzzy sound. Too hard to figure out some street names on the Navi.
On the turbo how did you know it was just the gasket and not the turbo itself? Did you get the dreaded P2263 error code for boost system performance? I've read a lot about it, but nobody who's been able to fix it, even after replacing the turbo I've heard it's come back.
Im going through the same😢
ever change the transmission fluid or still original?
Wow what a sharp looking, reliable, and usable suv. I wish more people were talking about these, seems like a way better option over the Nissan Rogue for the transmission/build and over the rav4 for price, better handling, and the extra power for the highway. Thanks for the recommendation Scotty

I am originally from Bavaria and I am shocked at the low quality my people put into these new BMW and Mercedes cars.
I also just bought a 2008 toyota sequoia limited with 100,000 miles, what a great truck, can't wait to fix it up a little and do some maintenance to it to get it ready for the next 100k miles.
And isn’t a typical awd system, super handling awd makes much more interesting dynamic wise. Gotta love these ones
Scotty should of floored it through a corner, you really feel the torque vectoring then
Exactly... It has that torque vectoring rear end... though most of the time, its just a front wheel drive-- minivan style.
If you want a dope awd grab a Volvo v8 or a jeep Cherokee with quadradrive II and v8.
I have drifted my RDX before!
1994 Celica comes with AWD 😉
Just a just amonth in since i bought a 2011 Acura RDX and absolutely love this vehicle..so fun to drive..my first non sedan even and RDX has been such an easy transition cause it handles so well, view is great almost no blind spots at all. Right off the hop I changed oil and engine air filter, tranny fluid drain n fill, transfer case fluid, and rear differential oil so i get a nice fresh start on this amazing used vehicle. Yes this video did help my decision, and im so glad i made it. Scotty was bang on, so happy with this purchase

I just picked up a 2010 for 8500 bucks. It is a BLAST to drive, and the motor on that thing is amazing.
My RDX has 235k miles on it and besides maintenance I have only had to replace the alternator and radiator and you can shift it manually with the paddle shifters
Uve answered my question. Honda/acura 4cyl vehs have alternator and ac system problems. My 07 tsx at 250k miles. It brraks a lot from 100k-220k miles.

@@kungfukenny1540 I’m at 141,000 miles now and I’ve only had oil changes and rotation of tires. I haven’t had any major repairs. The service I have had done has always been extremely affordable.
@@atmartens Thsnks for the info, I’m looking at a 2011 RDX FWD with 71k miles. It’s $15k, this will be my first car if I get it. Trying to make sure it’s a reliable car

I had a 1997 Volvo 850 GLT (5cyl Turbo). It had 185,000 miles on it when I sold it. It ran great until I just stopped taking care of it. I had a Passat 1.8t that had 110,000 miles on it when I sold it and it ran great. You just have to do regular oil changes. Hopefully the direct injection cars will improve.
A "killer" stereo system, what a baller.
This is my exact car but i have the white one. I love it, very sporty and mine is still driving great at 228,587 miles. Love my rdx definitely worth the 3k i bought it for!

I have changed my suspension to bc coilovers also. And I needed new motor mounts. Engine and transmission are still very solid, and I drive spiritedly.
I recommend the cold air intake, hondata tune, and bc coilovers for a very fun sleeper. And always change oil every 4K with full synthetic. And you must always use premium. The kseries engines are Honda’s best 4cl.

Scotty: I Just Found The Cheapest Hooker(and I’m buying one)
Scotty, that RDX has padle shifters you can shift it manually
Paddle shifters on automatic trans is kind of a gimmick tbh
He was implying that it shouldn't be shifted manually because of age
DN ED 23 He said “can’t be shifted” not “shouldn’t be shifted”
I have a 2011 RDX with 120k miles. Bought it certified pre-owned with a million issues that got fixed under warranty. Haven’t had any more issues in years, but now it’s starting to show its age.
AC compressor is bad, the front and rear sway bars are torn, the left axle seal is leaking, and the arm rest is starting to tear.

i just bought one of those!!! it’s so great. i got it because i’m trying to preserve my 2012 Volkswagen Beetle with really low miles. My new-to-me Acura RDX turbo sh-awd has 216,000 miles on it now but it runs perfect because the previous owners drove mostly highway miles & maintained it well! such a good buy
can you make a similar video for a same year mdx?
Hey Scotty do you think Acura ZDX is reliable?
I have only purchased 2 brand new cars from Honda ever. I have always been overwhelmed with their tech. They might build great engines including the "earth dreams engine". I have never owed a reliable Honda. Perhaps that is harsh. My 2017 CRV has been incredibly fuel efficient. I love the engine! I baby it! I think Honda knows how to build a great CVT transmission as well. My electronics are so wacky. My Honda makes me feel like I am driving a VW.
Do you have a video about Acura RDX newer models? And what is your opinion about them like 2019-2021
Hi Scotty. Question from a 70 year old backyard mechanic: Do you know an easy way to bleed a 1994 Ford Ranger Clutch Master & Slave Cylinder?
I have an 07 with 85k mi. Love that thing great car not great on gas but the SH-AWD + turbo is awesome
This car with a K&N cold air intake is so much fun! Mine has 150k miles and I’ve had 0 problems with it.
Internal combustion engines: mpg
Hybrid/electric : epm (electrons per mile).
My 2019 cx-5 awd just got 23mpg towing a filled 7' Fruehauf Car-go trailer across the Oregon coast range. Regularly getting 28mpg combined. No turbo necessary. 6 speed auto tranny performs flawlessly across all driving and towing conditions.
@Jack njones I towed the load across the Oregon coast range,, she didn't miss a beat. I would prefer the diesel but this is great for the price.

Does the Acura RDX 4 cycl require top tier gasoline? Thanks for this excellent information.
Yes bro, it’s a Acura not a Honda
Wonder how an Infiniti QX30 2017 Sport is. Currently thinking of buying one but of course would always love some feed back since it is a V4 Turbocharged as well. I test drive it and enjoyed it but overthinking kills me.
I'm out here burning in sun and scotty out here testing freezing cold a/c
My 13 escape has 310000km everything is original. Just done regular maintenance. Finally doing a water pump, thermostat, temp sensor and coolant bypass valve just because its got 300k on it. Even the transmission has never been serviced. Now we don't abuse it just enjoy it. And it has been great. The first 13 escape we had had the 2.5l and it was even better till a deer killed it with 375000km. But the ecoboost isn't terrible if you don't treat it like a racecar. And simply just drive it
Hi Scotty! Is Nissan Kicks SR a good car? Thanks.
Scotty's Number 1!
@scottykilmer does the engine has to be idled before switching the car off to cool down the turbo ?
Hey Scotty. I bought a 2004 Cadillac Escalade 5.3L RWD. The truck is from Texas with very little rust. Water pump and oil pump recently replaced. I bought it for 2K. Is this a good deal used?
owned one for 154,000 miles and loved it so far
Scotty have a 2015 Ford f150 2.7 ecobost I left my home Puch the gas for about 100 yards then it just slows down now have no oil pressure and found some oil on inside passenger front rim do you think I blew the turbo I would really like your input thanks Johnny
I shouldn't say most people, but a lot of people that have a turbo overuse it and are not very knowledgeable about automotive equipment and don't or won't properly maintain it. Acuras like Lexus will be more expensive when they do break, but whatever floats your boat. I'll take a regular Honda or Toyota and bank the difference. I'm old also lol
I love my 07 RDX

He's 99% right.
Lol
I might be dumb but I’m not Stoopid..

Hi Scotty,
Why’s the check engine light on?
That doesn't fit his narrative of supreme Japanese reliability, so he excluded it from the video. On a Mercedes or BMW, though, he'd be happy to plug his "fancy scan tool" in and rip it apart for having 20 redundant codes
@@standyourground9973idk why he didn't talk about the light but its probably why the owner brought it to scotty to fix. As for mercedes and bmws they are notorious for falling apart early on and costing a fortune to fix
He did say that it was in for an oil change (I think, I'm not going back and rewatching it). I'm not familiar with Honda/Acura icons, but some of the change oil lights are really really close to check engine lights (my wife's car fooled her the first time she needed a change).
@@standyourground9973 respect your profile man
Peter Hemingway that is absolutely a check engine light, not a service engine soon/oil change light
What's the check engine light for???
Scotty can u make a vid explaining the difference between turbocharged, supercharged and just turbo?
There is no difference...a turbo and super charger are both turbine driven compressors. A turbo is more efficient because it is driven by exhaust gasses...so power from waste gas. A super charger is belt driven...so it is parasitic, like AC. Which is better...It depends on who you ask.
Mike Foehr Positive Displacement superchargers ( Roots, Twin screw) are Not turbine driven , Centrifugal superchargers have an impeller which creates inlet suction !
From an efficiency standpoint, the turbocharger has an advantage. It takes wasted exhaust and turns it into something useful. Meanwhile, a supercharger won't do this and acts more like a naturally aspirated engine.
However, with a turbocharger comes lag. A supercharger doesn't rely on exhaust gas and power comes immediately. Superchargers can more easily be tuned to provide linear boost across the rpm range as well. Other downsides to a turbocharger include a lubrication requirement. A turbo requires engine oil lubrication, which is another demand on the engine. And as the turbo creates more heat, the oil will degrade quicker. For the record, some superchargers require engine oil lubrication as well, but it will never reach the more extreme temperatures that a turbo will.
I ll take a supercharged car over a turbo charged to my like.
Thank you all. Awesome explanations
Scotty -damn it, youre a gem!
Nearly every sentence in this video would go great on a T Shirt about the Acura SUV
