My ring finger is a little short. I found it very difficult to reach the G string correctly so as not to mute the C string. I worked out that I could push the G string up a bit. This proved to be very helpful.

Great tips! I have now done Video 1 and Video 2 in this barre chord series and am successfully playing these two chords. This is a great series.

  • @jimqpublic2

Thanks, this series is very helpful. Working on them one at a time instead of in a song is way less intimidating. I have decided it's easier for me to bar all four strings- that puts my other fingers in a better position to cleanly fret other strings. Also I tried fretting the "A" chord both ways and decided the standard index-middle combo works best for me.

I just found your you tube video. Thank you it is very helpful. I working on progressions for the major scale using the A C D and F shapes. I understand it, except the barre changes and I could not figure out a consistent pattern that would apply to which fret to barre, for example, the C chord can be played by barring the 7the fret with the F shape and then it goes to the 10 fret with a D shape. There is open between the 9th and 10th fret, but this is not a consistent pattern with other chords. Hope I'm clear. Thanks for any type of reply.

    Did I survive?-Yeah
    My thumb and index fingers-nope.
Kevin, first of all, I want to thank you for day 1. Bb is much easier for me, but still I can't lay down all the fingers at the same time.
I still don't want to learn songs with Bb,but I wanna play the beatles,so I decided to practice in advance. I needed your words. Special thanks for your support. I appreciate, respect and love u sm. You are the best teacher on Earth really. I constantly thank you, but this isn't enough. You have helped me a lot and still help me.
I took a break from barre chords. I focused on tabs, but decides to continue watching barre chords series.
I thought Bm will be easier for me because It was on one song I have learned, but I made a mistake, but anyway, I won't give up.
It's easier for me to put my index finger on the full second fret, but u told me I should do uncomfortable things, so I will try to put my finger on first 3 strings.
Again, I love u sm and wish you the best. You really deserve it. You are the best teacher of the best.

    Hey, Kevin
I have been going back through the kickstarter, the strumming, and the fingerpicking series, as well as attending the current series. I am actually getting some MUSI C out of my Uke. Thanks to you. I am also learning how to Evaluate ukuleles and to compare the sound. So I have some basis to work from when purchasing a new Uke. I have 95% resisted the urge to "collect" ukulele. Thanks again and keep it up.

Could you do a series about how to play at jams when the just have II, V and VII or whatever they shout out?

    • @AllForUke
      @AllForUke  4 года назад +1

I think this link (bit.ly/2J1zIL9) will help you. When they are calling out a number, it refers to the chord number within the key. Check out this pdf and look at the key of C. If they shouted out 2-5-1, what chords would you play? Dm - G - C is the answer. So... find out the key, plug in the numbers and play the corresponding chord. Hope this helps - Kevin

I was trying to find your cord chart on your web site and had absolutely no success. I was trying to do your exercise sheet for lesson 2. You referenced a cord chart that I cannot find. The exercise called for a C#m cord that I cannot play from my cord sheet. I was hoping your cord sheet had an easier fingering. How do I find your cord chart on your web site?

Hey Kevin! I have the same problem that I had with the previous tutorial and that is, even if I tilt my index finger, I can barre the 2nd fret alright, but my ring finger can't reach the 4th fret AND have a curve...Are my fingers too short??....Is there a trick to solve this problem? :(

    • @AllForUke

@@AllForUke Most times the only real problem during a song with barre chords is the fading power of my thumb and the following dead notes. Although Bb is actually the worst. Ever played "Hallelujah" from L. Cohen in Bb? That's torture ;)
