    As someone with a lot of osteoarthritis in my fingers (from fixing other people's bodies as a physical therapist), I am so grateful to you for having put out this video. I started playing ukulele a year ago and ran straight into the brick wall of barre chords; thank you very much

    Very cool. Rheumatoid arthritis has kept me from successfully being able to do barre chords. This may be the solution to getting out my uke out of its case and trying again. Genius! Many thanks.

    This is just great for arthritic fingers, has given me the encouragement to keep on playing. Thank you so much, brilliant

    Great lesson, Phil. I especially like the focus on how to improve technique for playing with others. Cheers from Canada!

    Django Reinhardt inspired Tony Iommi to stick with the guitar after his hand injury. Jerry Garcia is another example too.
    When I took my first guitar lesson at 10 yrs old, I sat down and played it lefty but the instructor had me switch to righty.
    I shattered my left pinky a few years ago and it’s been limiting but not overly so. Sometimes I wonder if I should relearn to play stringed instruments lefty, like I was suppose to play in the first case.
    Thanks Phil

    this is very good and very helpful, would it be possible to show all these moveable chords on a sheet? That would be fantastic!!!

    This is so wonderful! I have been practicing my barre chords, but I have trouble with many that use multiple fingers. I can play a barre chord with one and sometimes two fingers (depending on the shape). My index finger curves up and off the strings. I will continue to practicice. It is very nice having alternative ways of playing chords too. ☺

    Fantastic Phil, music is for everyone & we don't all have fingers like spiders legs . This is really going to help me adjust songs i want to play .Transposed songs don't always sound right. I personally had a stroke which left me with disobedient fingers on my left hand, also i have 2 brothers now in their 50,s who have been playing guitar since they were 18 hence i can see their fingers have grown as well as being trained to produce great chord shapes & changes at speed.This will really help me progress and not give up on a song because i see a barre chord in the TAB .MY current challenge is song 2 by Blur which i have transposed several times but sounds awful, there are a couple of tutorials on youtube but with difficult chord changes and progressions, it sound so easy when heard played on the guitar do you have a suggestion using this method to get the riff correct at speed ?
    Many thanks for making this video & the download 🎸👍

      Thanks Andy. Song 2 is, like a lot of pop/rock songs, easier on the guitar than the uke. On the guitar it's pretty much sliding around the same chord shape on the lower strings, which is not such an easy thing to do on the uke.

    Phil are you able to convert these shapes into baritone tuning. I know the G and G7 are my D and D7 but get lost when you move the shapes over to different strings

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  3 года назад

      The F#m would become a C#m, and the B7 would be an F#7, and then it's just a matter of counting up.

    That's great Phil, does it work with baritone uke. I struggle with barre chords , Dm is a trial as well.

      Yes, absolutely. Of course each of these shapes will give a different chord name, but this video will help you with that...
