    Until I turned 65 I joked that I was born with 2 left ears. Then I bought a piano, then my daughter loaned me her ukulele.
    Then I stumbled across this bloke Phil Doleman, and life has been good.
    Merci beaucoup.

    Years ago, when I was an ukulele novice, I gathered my courage and played an excerpt of a well-known song in front of the group at the Burning Uke festival in the hills above Santa Cruz, California. After that "open mic" session was over, one of the very experienced, semi-professional players came up to me and complimented my playing and said it was interesting that I ended on the 4 chord. I didn't realize what that meant, but after several years of learning, I could recognize the I IV V progression and others by ear. Thank you Phil for being part of my learning curve.

    Hi Phil, I’m trying to practice strumming and watched your video on this, however, I noticed that you’re sometimes using your thumb in this (3 chord trick) video, do you recommend one or the other?

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Colin,
      I switch between the two, really just to get a different sound. The index finger is good for a bright attack and lots of volume, and the thumb for a warmer, softer sound. It's good to be able to do both. The basic motion of the hand is pretty much the same though.

    My fingers won't play a D and E chord or any chord where you need 3 fingers in a row.

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  Год назад

      Try your D or E with a barre. You'll find the E chord in the video at 1:35 in, and the D is just 2 frets lower.
