Does anyone else find themselves on the strumming STRUGGLE BUS 🚌 ?!? I've been on it.
A4U COMMUNITY SURVEY-- How many times a day and for how long do you typically play/practice ukulele? Do you play every day? A few times a week? Whenever you feel like it?
📣 I want to hear your ukulele story and what your aspirations are as a ukulele player. Is uke just a hobby to pass the time? Or do you aspire to play with some other musicians someday? Are you simply strumming to decompress and de-stress? That's what I do sometimes. It does help. Let's have a chat - Kevin

I was inspired by my 19 year old daughter taking private guitar lessons for some 10 years. I love the sound of her exercising. I tried guitar a little but the ukulele is so much handier and quick to pick up in front of the TV and t bring with you. I practise a little almost every day from 5 minute to 20 minutes. Sometimes just a muted strumming pattern while looking at a TV series. Sometimes a bit more seriously following your videos. Later this autumn I maybe will attend group lessons. I would also be fun to play a little with my daughter when I have become more confident. It gives me a relaxation after a hard day.

My brother got my 8yr old a ukulele for xmas. I couldn't get a simple strum and got mad at myself, now I practice every day sometimes for several hrs. I'm learning "while my guitar gently weeps"... my floors DO need a sweeping. ✌

@@elisabethseifert3847 Really enjoyed learning your story. Very cool! I'm confident you and your daughter can and will be able to play some tunes together. Start with something easy and familiar. Do either of you sing? That'd be fun, too. Strumming in front of the TV is a great idea. You actually play unconsciously when you watch tv sometimes and that really helps you get comfortable with the instrument faster. Keep at it and keep in touch :)

Welcome, Jim! 🙋‍♀️ I'm 68 & the desire to learn uke bit me last October but I didn't get my 1st uke until February 2, 2020 and I got a Kala Baritone cuz i have played guitar in past & baritones are typically strung with the top 4 strings on the guitar, DGBE. After 2 months of playing "soprano" tuning [GCEA} with capo at 5th fret, i finally purchased an inexpensive Kohala Soprano. After 1 month on "Annie", the UAS hit me, i.e. Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome... They are like the tribbles on the old Star Trek episode where each morning, I select 1 of 4 soprano ukuleles & I pet & play with it as if it were a sweet little pet... I'm loving these little instruments & wanted to be an encouragement to you. Great for keeping fingers & hands flexible too. Anyway, good luck to you, Jim. Happy Trails from Canby, Oregon 🙋‍♀️

Learning fingerpicking, strumming, muting, chords, notes, some music theory, etc. Trying to get a little of everything and not get tunnel-vision on just one thing. Looking to de-stress, distract my mind, and ultimately looking to make my own music, improvise, and play with others. Thanks for the great lesson. Can’t wait to finish the next 6!

Kevin - just loved your 5 day strumming series. Although my fingers aren't that happy with me (new to the uke so I'm guessing it's part of the growing pains) it was something I was hoping to learn. I think the only thing that would make the series better would be a day 6 where you'd teach a complete song using one of the strumming patterns. Greatly appreciate all your posts!

But, I’ve learned a lot of difficult things in my life, and I know that’s totally normal. If fact, that’s where most people quit, what ever it is their trying to learn. As a relative (returning) beginner, I think that others as myself would find it a bit easier if when you were 'wording out' the strum patters as in , "down, down up...up down up...", that you spoke through it 'in the same tempo' as the actual strum patters is played...In using the above example you would instead say, "down, down up, up down up, (pause) down, down up, up down up...I hope you catch my drift...I look forward to progressing through the strumming course

Thanks heaps. Im an older bloke and a newbie to ukelele (and any other instrument). Your advice was patient and I really appreciated your use of the strumming arrows and then the chords. Easy to follow. Gee I might even learn something that will stick.. Cheers from Down Under.

Awesome idea for a series of lessons. Exactly what I need to help take my practice to the next level. I'm excited and really looking forward to the rest of the series. These videos are so well done, I can't think of a better way to format them or make them any easier to follow along and understand. Song tutorials are great but it's always extra helpful to have lessons on the techniques used in those songs since it then makes learning the actual songs that much easier because you kinda know what's going on behind the scenes if that makes any sense. As always thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. Best ukulele channel on RUclips. I hope you all are doing well and please keep up the excellent work. See you next video.

Thank you so much.As a young man ! always wanted to play guitar but constant deployments overseas rendered that a no'-go. Now retired I don't have to worry about orders to ship out being gone for God only knows. However, my right was severely injured so I have to make work-a rounds for my handicap. Practicing guitar was frustrating so I brought a uku which is much better. Hope it's not against the "Uku Law" but I strum with my middle finger. You are helping me in coordinating my right and left hands to obey my commands with these exercises! I am playing so much better now! This old retired Marine salutes you sir!

Super cours!

Enjoying step up tostrumming. Today I watched day 4 and learned a lot, but I wished you could do a more close up of how to hold the first finger and thumb when going down and back up the uke . I'm not sure exactly how you place them. Also, 3 fingers on my right hand don't work so well, but luckily I do okay with the other 2. I have been really working on Credence C.C. HAVE YOU SEEN THE RAIN ON A SUNNY DAY. I call it my own rendition. Now I'm trying to learn MARGARITA VILLE, But find I can't keep time and sing at the same time. I'm trying to use the Island Strum and can't keep track.. any suggestions. I'm thinking of purchasing a metronome whoncounts out 1 2 3 4. I think that would help. Anyway I am finding your tutorials very helpful.
    Thank You.
