God of War would need an Avengers type budget for it to be a proper movie franchise or tv show
After phase 4 started that's not a reliable standard
If the last of us tv show goes well you can bet there will be an adaption of GoW next. It'll probably follow the 2018 reboot more than gow 1-3.

I’m so glad that the GOW franchise has created such ripples within both the gaming industry and the fictional mythology medium that it’s still being watched today.
Nearly two decades ago this franchise was one of the ones that made the PS2 the console of so many childhoods, and now it’s still being experienced currently.
Such a good feeling to see others experience what shaped so many gamer’s childhoods and preferences in games.
Also based on my knowledge of the two, Kratos would turn Wonder Woman into paste. Both characters have cosmic feats, but Kratos has equipment that is built to handle deities. Spawn can only be killed via be-heading of holy weaponry. Wonder Woman doesn’t have that restriction: she can be stabbed, choked, and diced up just as easily as the other gods he has killed in his prime.

Plus wonder woman has a more of a hesitation to kill and that could make the match up very quickly

It took a sword empowered by not only Zeus, but also _all_ of Kratos’ godly powers in order to put him down the first time - and he was a Demi-god by that point.
I don’t think Wonder Woman has anything that powerful in her arsenal. Not to mention Kratos even before gaining his deification successfully killed Ares *without* the power of Hope - which he only gained after accepting his grief for the slaughter of his family. A mortal Kratos successfully killed a god. A composite Kratos would be devastating. Especially if he’s bloodlusted.

in the first game, krato's just wanted a decent night sleep. revenge against ares wasn't top priority.
ever since all he went through: he asked the gods to rid him of his nightmares and sins but Athena promised only to absolve him of his sins. but when the gods refused that you could see the despair within krato's eyes and that's why we see him in the opening and closing moments casting himself off the cliff edge into the water in the first god of war game.
the gods robbed him from his peace and that's why it's understandable on why he went after every other god.
It is not just that bro. It is the events of Ghost of Sparta that set Kratos's rebellion against the Gods in motion. When Kratos is forced to put down his own mother, learns about the truth of his brother, and then Athena appearing at the end offering to remove his memories in hopes of sating his anger that ultimately drove his quest for vengeance against the Gods. Athena could do it the whole time, she could remove his nightmares but she chose not to, and it is only when Kratos learns the whole truth about how his life and family had been royally f***ed due to the Gods that she offered to do it in hopes of appeasing him. If Kratos didn't learn the truth about his family in Ghost of Sparta, she would have been fine with him being plagued by nightmares for eternity when he became a God. It is only when she fear and know the repercussions of him knowing the truth that she offered to remove his memories and nightmares.
This is the atypical self-fulfilling prophecy situation, where the Gods try to prevent their demise at the hands of a prophecised Marked Warrior, only to end up creating the circumstances and fulfilling the prophecy themselves. If they hadn't taken Deimos from the very start, none of these chain of events would have happened.
By far the biggest irony, is how in _GOW: Ascension,_ the Furies were suppressing Kratos's nightmares the entire game, but Kratos's decision to embrace the truth, is what took away his very first chance for peace from him.

I think Kratos is one of the most strongest characters I think I’ve ever played in a video game but I think the beginning of his story was a very brutal one
Yup. It’s tragic but also kind of karma. He was killing without mercy or thought. Not thinking about the fact that he was killing the wife, husband, son and daughter of someone else. Didn’t hit him until he experienced the loss personally 😢

I wanna know how Deimos managed to build and keep a chiseled body like that in confinement. Surely Ares and Thanatos wouldn’t allow him to gain such strength? He’d be nothing but skin and bones, totally weak to move. I guess because he’s a demigod? Idk…
They let him get in a workout an hour a day in the yard 😜
He was in chain all days but was also given hard works that requires strength, he couldn't escape even with the strength because he was no where near theatch of Thanatos

I'm a bit late but ares was finding the marked warrior to bring down Olympus so Deimos probably served ares like kratos did when ares found out that Deimos is not the prophesied warrior he imprisoned him again probably that's why Deimos is ripped and wearing an armour

Funnily enough my journey with God of War was a complete accident. When I got my PS3 I was given all the games as well and not just the numbered ones either. While I was never into the goriness and even Kratos at first as I went through it I realized how much he’s been through and cannot help tearing up at times. My uncle was more into the combat but I went along for the story and I cannot blame Kratos for being so angry.
I first played it because of the Greek mythology angle it took and it was fun combat. Then the story grows on you 😊
Hack and slash games often skimp out on story, but man, GOW really carved an interesting tale.
Orkos in actual mythology is the literal embodiment of the Vengeance of Perjuration. He is the retribution of false testimony in the face of justice. The son of Alecto, the Fury of Strife and Discord. Basically where there is contention, either legal or martial, Orkos sees what the truth is.
In GoW he is the first "celestial supersoldier" borne and born of a deal between Ares and Alecto to produce the ultimate warrior. Their plan worked, but as is often with Greek gods, be careful what you wish for. Orkos' power was not to defeat those whom who deceived or conspired, but to know the truth of the matter.
Ares used this ability to make Orkos find those most consumed by revenge and when none presented itself to be strong enough to Ares' standards, he simply created one through the means that draw Orkos to find them. Ares thought this warrior thus created would defeat both Zeus and the Titans alike, but as with most weapons, the wielding came without wisdom or care, and just as Kratos was blinded by bloodlust and ambition, so was Ares blinded by fear and greed.
Thanks for telling us more about Orkos. Of course in the next video we will still call him Orthos because we filmed ahead 😂🤗

Orkos (όρκος) is the greek word for oath
The irony is that in mythology, Ares and Hades are the nices guys ever, while the rest of the gods, especialy Zeus & Hera being horrible and some of them being "questonable" AT BEST.
Ares is even the patron of the Amazons and his daughter Hyppolita is the queen of them who is the target in one of Hercules's labors and later has a child with Theseus.
Hades is a chill dude that loves his wife and his dog Cerberus and is willing to help people if they ask nicely.

The Furies were basically the physical personification of one's own guilty conscience. Their job was to pursue and punish those who have committed the most heinous of crimes in ancient Greek culture like Patricide and breaking Hospitality.
Even Zues is scared shitless of them because they never age, never tire, and they NEVER stop pursuing someone who they've deemed as guilty. "The Oresteia" is a famous Greek tragedy that illustrates why The Furies are so feared across Greek mythology.

Before 17:19: there was more that was skipped. Kratos makes it to the temple of Delphi as per Orcos' instructions. There, he kills a griffin and makes his way to the oracle where her guardian is in the way. Kratos kills said guardian, but not before the guardian tries to prevent Kratos from what he needs to know by sending the oracle to her death first. After the fight, the oracle, at death's door, reveals to Kratos what he must do before dying.

In reality Kratos' wife not only wouldn't be against his military conquests but she'd probably encourage it. Sparta was an extremely militaristic society and even non military citizens valued military conquest above all

Once you choose the aid of a God of Wrath, Darkness or War like Ares, there is no easy way out and being cursed is how even if you try to get out and end them, you will have a burden to remember.

Yup, Greek mythology has so much lore that survived the times that what's been taught in college literature is like a small percentage of it, also he's the reason that Prometheus was chained up, fought the giants that wanted to destroy Olympus alongside the Gods of Olympus and Hercules, actually did fight Ares cause these two don't like eachother, he's best friends with Deimos who in actual Greek mythology is the God of pain and son of Ares and lastly he's 1 of the 4 divine enforcers of Zeus, the other 3 been Nike The Goddess of victory, Zealus The God of zeal and Rivalry, and Via The Goddess of force.
Ascension had problems with the Story and some of the combat but I liked the Art style and design of the Furies, Ghost of Sparta was originally on the PSP, a Handheld console! It's one of my favorite games of all time because it tells the story of Kratos's brother Deimos and his Mother which is heartbreaking! The game was/is so cinematic and. Awesome on the PSP!

I don’t know if you two knew this but there’s a book where it takes place between GOW 3 and GOW 2018 when after the death of Zeus Kratos survived his attempted suicide and he wandered the world and throughout that time he kept trying to get rid of the Blades of Chaos but they always somehow made their way back to Kratos so it serves as a reminder that he can’t escape his tragic and blood soaked past and he eventually ends up in Egypt and meets a couple of the Gods of Egyptian Mythology so with Kratos wandering the world he eventually ends up in Scandinavia where The Norse Mythological Gods and Goddesses live which leads into GOW 2018
I was never really fond of Kratos as a character but I did like the old games. The GoW 2018 game changed all of that for me. I now empathize with Kratos more and man I'm rooting for him lol.
personally i think that through out the "Greek saga" Kratos was a villain, yes he suffers a lot and yes he is the protagonist but that doesn't abolish all his previous actions while in GOW 4 we see that he has truly changed.

Zeus cared about his family on Olympus too, it doesn't mean he wasn't a piece of shit tho . A lot of what has happened to Kratos is his own fault , obviously not everything but honestly a good chunk of it was .

This game made me love mythology growing up. It has me wondering. How in the world can directors say that videogames are not an art form when movies keep getting worse and lack originality, meanwhile videogames get more creative and they pull off original stories. Such a shame. Though I'll admit many games can be terrible as well.

I remember Fern Gully and Im fairly sure that fairy girl was my sexual awakening, I specifically remember a scene where her and the human dude are swimming where the artists definitely deliberately drew her in a sexual manner.Also I believe the Furies were supposed to be the opposite to the Valkyries from norse mythologies where they take worthy warriors to valhalla the furies were the punishers of the gods for oath breakers and the killers of kin so Kratos got the double whammy for what he did.
The game you just watched footgge of was actually the last Greek game they made before the 2018 one. Also in the next part please tell me you do the last cuts ene in ascension and not skip straight to the next game.

Now this is hilarious. All that the gods had to do was literally nothing to prevent their fate, yet they created the weapon that would destroy them.
Also, could it be that Athena was the true villain this whole time? She was the one who saved Kratos multiple times and has always been there throughout the games, like some master manipulator. I wouldn't be surprised if it was she who planned for the destruction of Olympus and all the gods, just so that she could be the one rule over all.
Thought you guys already did this. I'll check it out later. I need a good refresher myself. The story of the first three games was very rough. The story of GOW 4 helped this very popular franchise catapult itself into true art.
We had watched all God of War 3 deaths which basically tells us the story of that game haha, but haven’t covered really many of the other 😅

While having knowledge of mythology could help a bit God of War takes many liberties while telling their story that you don’t really to know the actual mythology to understand (for example the Furies are associated with Hades not Ares)
that damned (well, 'Bad' Permanent ending for in zeus'--and those other fellow FLS - 'gods''of his--ears anyways) foreshadowing indeed.... (06:33).

God of War takes SERIOUS LIBERTIES with the Greek Mythology, though.
Its just a made up story concocted by computer nerds. has nothing to do with Greek Mythos except for names and small similarities.

God Of War is my favorite "You are the villain" type series aside from Dark Souls. Theres something about playing a game, and thinking youre the good guy, then having the realization that you have done 0 good for the world, and really just helped to make it worse.
I recommend watching all the God of Wars Bosses.

You know what I think is ironic? Athena is also a war god. Ares is the boots on the ground brutal side of war whereas Athena is the back row tactical side of war that contrasts the two very very well. And both of them are terrible people in this series.
