22:40 LOVE that we cut from Barlog going "maybe we're not gonna find the perfect person for the role" to Chris Judge walking into frame in a superman t-shirt, ready to save the day lol
That's a+ editing right there.
Indeed.
I don't know who the original voice actor for kratos was and while he was really good in that role if I'm being honest I've listened to comparisons and I enjoy Christopher judge voice a little more to be honest
As someone who just beat god of war ragnorok fair warning it is quite the emotional roller coaster
Stop spoiling
@@litboi7588 I’m not spoiling anything I’m just saying you’re gunna cry a lot
Damn you finished it already? Im taking my sweet time
@@_ripVanWinkle_ ya I got really invested in the story and Towards the end of my play through I speeded through the story Which is a little rough in some places but WHAT an ending
I finished it on Saturday lol
This was really cool and I like how Christopher mentioned he called his agent and was all, "I thought you said this was a video game?". Games like God of War, RDR2, Detroit: Become Human, and the like have really gone a long way towards blurring the line between game and cinema, the way they film them with mocap is basically theatre minus the costumes. We're seeing more and more Hollywood actors like Christopher Judge make the leap to gaming which I think is awesome. (For those that don't recognize him, he was Teal'c on Stargate: SG1 for 10 seasons). Can't wait to see where the story goes in Ragnarok!
Cheers
That was 2013-2014 I think. In that period, I can only think of The Last of Us as a game that really was a phenomenal cinematic experience. So it was understandable for a TV actor who was pushing 50 by the time he got the offer, to have different expectations as to what a video gaem was.
Dude, the E3 2016 reveal of God of War with that live orchestra was amazing, epic doesn't even fully describe the feeling.
As far as game reveals go that is peak, maybe the best of all time.
This moment with Yumi and Sharon brings tears to my eyes every time... the sadness in Sharon's eyes and face... it kills me 😢
Im about 1/3 through GOWR and omg this game is amazing, im truly in love with where they are taking this series, can’t wait for your series!!💙❄️
I finished it last night lol. It was Amazing
Another very nice game documentary is "Grounded" for the Last of Us, which has a lot of similar vibes like Raising Kratos. You can see the thought process behind the storytelling and the performances just as much!
This documentary is the kind of video game BTS I’ve waited so long for. It’s amazing, and makes me appreciate the game and the industry as a whole a lot more. 🤘🏻
One of my favorite docu movies, Cory's reaction to the big reveal is priceless, all that effort put into the game, it's so satisfying
While I was never in the "Kratos must die" camp, I got the sentiment. None of the GoW games were bad, per se - it just stopped being a groundbreaker and became more of the same. Kratos AND the franchise needed Atreus. It needed Chris and Sunny. It needed Cory to become the man he did.
I am so glad I found you, someone who is as passionate about this series as I am! These two last GoW games have really hit home hard for me! Can’t wait for you to play Ragnarok!
Excellent reaction Miranda! Sigh, this documentary, it chokes me up each time I watch the part about Chris Judge and him taking about how the industry takes a toll on family life… what you said about how fans treat such things is so true, we stop thinking if the people behind and in front of entertainment as less than human or something, especially people behind video games and cameras. We all need a little more patience and empathy. This is a great documentary to drive that home, which is seemingly unexpected from its source, being one on a video game. But like Balrog (I’m borrowing this from you!… okay stealing, love the Freudian slip!) says, gamers have grown up,so the media about them has too. It’s crazy for me how much games have changed from just silly kids things when I started in the early 80s to right up there with some of the greatest literature of all time.
I watched every second of this video. That documentary was amazing
I heartily applauded the effort and sacrifice of this company, of everyone involved, I was very emotional in this video, as a fan who has played gow 1,2,3 and ascenscion and 4 since their launch, following how this game only got better as the years passed. time, I'm just extremely happy that they managed to make such a work of art, and they deserve all the love for such dedication, this game will always be in my heart as it is part of my life as a gamer to follow the story of such a special character, captivating, unique like kratos, thanks for reacting to this video
Omg I literally watched this for the first time yestarday, a couple of months after i played this for the first time.
It is trully amazing how much love and dedication everyone on the team put in this game. I am so exited to play Ragnarok!
Cant wait to see the first part of gameplay from you. All the best!
This is amazing! I wish you all best Miranda 🤗 Can’t wait to see you’re new journey🙉
You are the only one I've seen react to this masterpiece of a documentary , great video
I cried watching the E3 reveal when it first came on live.
It was a masterpiece of an opening for Sony's E3 conference.
The live orchestra took the cake. Was in awe what was going to appear on screen and lo and behold, it was God of War.
The emotion was especially heightened being a fan of the franchise and hearing no word on what was to come next for years after the cliffhanger of a climax in God of War 3
We started crying at the same time 😭❤ That bit always makes me so emotional 😭
Hi Miranda! I Loved this video so very much. ❤ It was very interesting to see you watch a video game documentary aside from playing the games. This shows the greatness and potential of what Video Games bring! I Loved your reaction and it is going to be so exciting to see how much better Video Games are going to get in the future and what they will bring. I feel like these games will go from exciting now to nostalgic in the next decade.
This is a very good documentary! You are gonna love it Mirandalorian 💛
I remember that 2016 E3 press conference like it was yesterday. To see Kratos become a father and the first minutes of that God of War was mind-blowing!!
I love your reactions I felt the same way love to see this side of the artist behind the game
waited for this everyone who is watchin with me rn i wish you a good time
Yes!! More people need to react to this!
I wish more gaming companies would do this. This was amazing.
Miranda, I just want you know that you’re an amazing and wonderful human. You’re such a bright star that just draws attention from anyone nearby. Second! I looooooove documentaries too and love this one, as someone who loves documentaries, reactions, and your content. This video is already perfect in my book. What a great way to just show your appreciation for the creators of a piece of art so loved, not just by you but so many others.
Keep it up okay. 🤍
It is easy for us as fans to say "Give them as much time or as they need. They should get that time." But there is a business side to this and any entertainment medium. That extra time they need to "get it done" is going to cost how much more money, and there is no guarantee that the game is going to do well enough to justify that more time and money.
There's definitely a balance that is needed
its fantastic that the composer got a character in the second game.
i hope they will make something like this to the new god of war i would love to see behind the scenes again waiting for your gowr playthrough
My niece is almost 2. There is nothing she loves more than just opening and closing doors. So I definitely get it.
This is a great idea!! It'd be VERY cool if you also reacted to Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us documentary by Playstation, too! Up to you, ofc. You do you. I do hope that you watch it, regardless of whether you make a reaction video to it or not
Ascension almost killed our beloved Kratos, but its trailer (God of War: Ascension "From Ashes" Super Bowl 2013) is the most beautiful and touching game commercial I've seen - I cry every time I watch it 🤯
(I don't want to sound demanding, but...) I'd love to see your reaction to this trailer 😍
sunny, who plays atreus in gow2018, is also the same actor used for ragnarok btw ;)
Wow perfect timing
27:57
Daniele Bisuti, i love her❤
But sometimes i do scared of her 😂😂
She was playing ghost lady in INSIDIOUS
A lot of jumpscare, so she always give me nightmares😂😂
One of the biggest things I've loved about GoW 2018 and GoW:Ragnarok is the HUGE number of women (not just girls, but WOMEN) playing it, streaming it, reacting to the story, and enjoying the game - on RUclips, Twitch, and so many other places. I didn't realize that they had the first ever woman to be a combat designer in the studio - and it makes so much sense as to why the game was so universally appreciated by everybody. Not only that, the unique storytelling format of the game (and the single take camera style) seemed to lend itself to each individual gamer allowing themselves to experience AND express a lot more emotion than would traditionally accompany a GoW game.
Christopher Judge that plays Kratos, his voice sounds like Vin Diesel
My favorite part is how Cory Balrog doesn’t even consider wearing a hat or something to blend into the crowds leading up to that E3 demo lol didn’t think people would notice him being there and that not being a good thing leading up to the reveal.
I know it is a bit late for this, but if you could react to Untangling god of war from Good Blood too also gonna be great. Best documentary for god of war so far in RUclips
33:47. Sony E3 2016. The best showcase for gaming I have EVER fucking seen
Hello, love your videos ! When u will be playing god of war Ragnarok..?
This video literally opened a door to my video game world....the guy mentions "assassins creed origins" I was like WHAT 🤯🤯
It seriously was one of the best documentaries of all time! I feel Elden ring should win this year but if God of war ragnarok was to win… I wouldn’t be mad at another doc like this. I’m glad you got to watch! 😊
Never really thought of it but this was such a hail mary, that this could of killed God of War forever. And I am glad they knocked it out of the park and won game of the year in 2018
Crazy to see what goes into making games. Would Love to sew one on RDR2 but Rockstat do not talk much about their games. The closet is The design series for Maxpayne 3 and LA Noire.
David Jaffe talked a bit about how he came up with the idea for God of war. Forgot the name of the video but its an interesting watch.
Untangling God Of War by Good Blood here on youtube is an absolute GEM of a video in regards to norse myth and how the GOW creators changed it to fit their story. 10000% recommend watching it! n maybe reacting to it ;)
Poor Cory Barlog has the "I haven't slept in 48 hours" eyes throughout the whole thing. Also, hilarious side-note, pause at 30:02 to see Miranda morph into the video she's watching. It looks like she's sitting there with the other 2.
Miranda: Have you ever played a game with no music in the background.
TheRadBrad thanks gives a academy award speech and leaves the chat.
I'm all for a game studio taking a bit more time to fine tune the game. That's how you get hits like Halo: Combat Evolved, Dragon Age, FF7 Remake. I would like to also add that I Platinumed both GoW (2018) and GoW Ragnarok. Those are the only games I've ever Platinumed in my life, they were that compelling for me.
Thank you for doing a reaction for this.
GOWR, GOTY, Mark my words, masterpiece just like 2018
Will you play the other games I recommend the third one but it has a lot of blood
You should check out when Chris and Sunny presented an award together, it was gold.
Another incredible thing sony did was to port this game to PC making it accessible for a whole new players at a newer platform. It is an incredible masterpiece it shows how much care they did for even on small details within the game.
20:37 "He's beginning to believe"
29:59 pause the video and focus you will see something funny.
This and FF14 documentary are top notch
Those focus testers having a laugh about Atreyus feeling OP would be singing a different tune if they were fighting Sigurn instead of the little test mooks they were fighting
Man one day I want to get into video game acting ok it's gonna be a struggle
I think God of War 1, 2 and 3 are absolute must plays. Ascension, the last game released in the Greek pantheon is a prequel to the 1st game, and the smaller, originally released for PSP games Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta are OK, but not overly necessary to play, imo.
i couldnt put the controller down Ragnarök is so good i beat it in 3 days. haven't done that with a game since i was a kid
I hope maybe just maybe you can upload your reaction to the whole thing cause it may only be about 35 mins but it’s enough to miss some things.
The only parts I left out were like long walking montages with very little to no speaking
1:02:30 - Most adults are, its kids usually that are super impatient and really there is nothing we can about that (kids gonna be kids). Same for the threats they always talk about, there is ALWAYS going to be a few idiots who do that stupid stuff. The issue is even giving them air in the news and such, it validates them and it is only used as a push back to real criticism so it just hurts everything.
God of War 2018 beat Red Dead Redemption 2 for Game of the Year which is fucking mind blowing as RDR2 is the pinnacle of what a great game is. If there is one game that even remotely holds a chance of beating the masterpiece that is Elden Ring it is Ragnarok. I wish they Tied for GOTY however if one wins I’d like Rag to win. That development team truly deserves the praise. Glad you watched this friend, it was nice to see it again.
When GoW beat Red Dead 2 for goty, cory had to feel so good
I actually really enjoyed my playthrough of Ascension, it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
You could say that God of War Ascension was the final coffin for the old formula. It wasn't a bad game by any means. Not a great one like the previous ones, but not bad at all by any metrics. The main problem with Ascension was that after God of War 3, the peak of the Greek Saga, Ascension felt redundant and the old gameplay had overstayed its welcome. A soft reboot was needed at that point if the series were to continue.
1:09:44 the magic happens 💯
I'm biased too and even I want gow ragnarok to win game of the year, the only problem is,it's going to be a close call because elden ring and ragnarok are currently in a tie,I hope ragnarok wins though.
I finished gowr and it was amazing! I love it? It’s so good and sad! Enjoy it! I watched this after I finished 2018 and I loved it !
Girl play those games! Im telling ya you're going to missed it out!
yeah, i was already pretty understanding of game delays before watching this but after, i'm all for them if it means the game actually gets completed. it's why i feel like all those headlines about how hogwats legacy being delayed a little is "devastating" are so fucking stupid; like who would rather have a broken game on time than a finished game a few months later? stupid
God of War Ascension is worth a playthrough. It is still a good game, and I'm glad I own it. It is kind of hit or miss with some folks, but as more people come to the series, I think it's getting a little more appreciation. Kind of like Arkham Origins when it came out it wasn't as well received but overtime has gotten more love.
But of all the old games if you were going to skip one, that would be the one I would skip.
11:30 im confused what they were talking about, we were all 100% ready for the old kratos to come back but what they made was fine i guess, there wasnt much risk though god of war games will do good as long as kratos is in them
Please watch "Untangling God Of War" pleaseeee
"lamb cress... I'm the fucking god of war" 💀💀💀
you absolutely must play the old games
you definitely have to play the other god of war games 1 2 and 3 to further understand the story of kratos
5:25 lmfao her fucking face
If you really liked this, I suggest watching "Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us" if you haven't already. It's really good.
the best game ever
51:35 😂😂
Keren.😱
Personally I thought ascension was fine and the story and setting fit pretty well within the series
As much as I like God of War and now God of War Ragnarok I think Red Dead Redemption 2 was robbed that year for GOTY award. God of War Ragnarok is my GOTY for 2022.
This was a great documentary. I still feel Red Dead 2 should have won Game of The Year A lot of people do, but both great games. Detroit Become Human and Spider-Man also came out that year 2018 was a crazy year for games
Kingdom come Was Also Great such an underated game.
You should definitely check out noclip, they do fantastic documentaries on video games
Even though I'm an Xbox guy, God of War truly was a PlayStation marvel right next to Uncharted.
cool
God of War: Ragnarok, as of 19 Nov 2022, received 50 "Perfect" reviews. GOTY!
6:30 - Ascension was okay. Not bad but felt lackluster coming off of the epic amazing God of War 3 which felt like a conclusion so to go back felt really underwhelming (felt like the stakes just went out the window and the story just wasn't all that interesting IMO). If you do play them I would play Ascension maybe after 1 or before (1 holds up but is janky compared to the others, 2 really refined the gameplay a lot).
Corey is the Real Kratos.
This video is 10% reaction, and 90% MONOLOGUE...
Girl... YOU TALKED OVER THE ENTIRE THING! :S
1:03:54 - Do you mean Musplehiem?
Well let's put it this way. If these guys had time for an interview AND still make a great game, wtf is happening at other studios. Sure there are people behind games, but that doesn't excuse the deserved hate they get for making a bad game. GOW 2018 and ragnarock was excellent. If people make a bad game with an endless amount of bugs, bad story, badly written characters, and they release that knowing that, they deserve the hate.
Oh mama.
