It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene with Optimus and the other Autobots arriving on Earth will always give me the good kind of chills. Little backstory: Since I was born in 1991, I didn't get to grow up with Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus. In 2001, my first exposure to the Transformers universe was through the series Robots In Disguise, with a voice actor named Neil Kaplan providing the voice of Optimus Prime. Then from there it went to the Unicron trilogy with Gary Chaulk as the voice of Optimus. I didn't get to fully bask in the glory of the Autobot Supreme Commander until this movie came out in 2007. I have a profound appreciation for what Peter Cullen has brought to the table in the world of the Transformers. Between the live action movies (4 and 5 are horrible), and the Transformers Prime series. He is forever my favorite voice actor for Optimus Prime. I just hope I get to meet him one day before he inevitably passes.
@@Jackson-ub1uv He's an absolute legend. He was also the voice of G1 Ironhide, Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh and the evil prototype of KITT from Knight Rider.
Hi, Oscar, I'm a 3D artist, I can tell you, the thought process and the time the 3D Rigging artists spent researching and making the skeletons of each robots and the time the animators took, the dedication of all the texturers, lighting artists, and all the others artists, are what made those effects so good. When I was studying, I remember watching a documentary on RUclips with the breakdown of how those effects were done, I can assure you, I have nothing but respect for those artists . Rigging, while I love this field, can be a nightmare if there's a problem, imagine if you have this level of complexity. I remember,as an exercise we had a simple robot to model and rig, one of my teachers told me and my colleagues that each movement had to have mechanisms that would make it believable to the viewer: "nothing is free, you can't just put ball joint everywhere on the model. " . That, that's x 400 at least. You would have to know how cars works, how those particular chosen models work to the part, then plan and figure out what you modify to match with the story and how the film director wants them to move and then only actually rig it, go back and forth with the director, the supervisor, the animators then, get it approved and pass it to the animators. I tell you, I respect those talented people. Even more so that you do this mad work and, at the end, your name is just hidden in plain sight in the credits
3:07 I will never forget the absolute adrenaline dump I got when seeing Blackout transform for the first time. God I love the realistic take on the transformations even if they do get super busy visually
And that's the only Wilhelm scream I tolerate in any movie. The first few times watching, I didn't even realize it was the Wilhelm scream until someone pointed it out. It works here because the voice is edited to fit the character and the situation itself is goofy. Whenever it's used in a serious action scene in any other movie, it completely ruins immersion and just takes me out of it. Ok, that was my rant about the Wilhelm scream, consisting of completely recycled opinions you've probably heard already. Have a nice rest of your day!
24:37 Yes, the music is supposed to give you chills. It does to me every single time. That score is called "The Arrival" and it is one of my most favorite scores in movie history. Right up there with Jurassic Park and Back to the Future. This movie soundtrack is amazing, too.
$2,000 is actually a lot for a used car like that in 2007. My first car I paid $300 for in 2022, and my current car my brother was selling for $2000, a 2004 Mini Cooper. The "more than meets the eye with you" was a reference to the commercials for Transformers and the theme song "Transformers, robots in disguise, transformers more than meets the eye". The scorpion is named Scorpinoc.
Fun fact: Michael Bay somehow manage to bring the same voice actors to replay the same characters they played in 1984 from G1 transformers. Frank Welker reclaiming the role of _Megatron_ once more. And Peter Cullen returning as _Optimus Prime_ once again.
One of the last films to be presented in 35mm in our local theater. I have a special memory about this film as my friend was a projectionist in the theater and asked if I want to "check" the print before premiere. So it was me sitting alone in the middle of a fully rigged THX sound system theater with volume set to -7dB LUFS (reference that was marked on the reels). As a Transformers fan since I was a kid, my mind was appropriately blown, of course.
You missed two mid-credit scenes. The first one is just a bit of comedy with the parents being interviewed, establishing that the whole Mission City incident was covered up. But the second one shows Starscream flying into space, explaining where he disappeared to and setting up how we see him in the 2nd movie.
The theme song for the cartoon I grew up with & that started all this, was “Transformers! More than meets the eye…” sam saying it to the girl was an easter egg
To this very day I still cry from joy when Optimus Prime transforms the very first time infront of Sam! Still remember the HUGE silence in the cinema during this scene, it was amazing!
As someone who grew up with the Transformers cartoon in the 1980's I really loved the first two of these movies. Also... you know stuff is about to get real when Star Scream shows up! 😁
44:03 I love Frank Welker (Original + Prime) and David Kaye's (Beast Wars + Unicron Trilogy) Megatron's, but damn Hugo Weaving was born to play the live action Megs
A couple of quick fun facts: The military aspect was SUPER close to how they'd behave IRL as far as communications, uniform etc because the US Military consulted pretty closely with Michael bay on a lot of that side of things. Also, the phone call at the start where the operator is being kinda blasé about it all and the soldiers are all kinda panicky and yelling "LEFT CHEEK! LEFT CHEEK!" etc was apparently based on a real experience one of the soldiers consulting on the movie actually had.
Sam's cringey line about more than meets the eye was written in purpose because the animated 80s cartoon of Transformers were stated to be More Than Meets the Eye. The writers wanted to throw in that line purposefully as an Easter egg to fans of the cartoon
The "Bumblebee" reboot movie answers many of your questions, as will the 1980s animated film. I highly recommend them! Same for the 1980s TV series! Peter Cullen is legendary as well. Been the voice of Optimus Prime (A favorite Transformer for many, including myself) for over 40 years now
The Camaro in which Bumblebee transforms is the prototype of the "new Camaro" from 2009. Michael Bay had to be careful not to scratch, dent or damage the car while filming. There was no new one, there was only the one. The car was promoted through the film in 2007. 2 years later the car was officially released and sold. Die CGI Animations Dateigröße für Optimus Prime war zum zeitpunkt des filmens 1Terabyte groß. für 2005-2006 eine riesen Datei. The other Transformers file size are smaller.
@@Gaspatim no no, they've got a point. Bumblebee's second was a prototype Camaro, released a year AFTER the movie. You can imagine how high the sales were for that car and the other cars used by Autobots in this movie.
11:41 Fun fact, to create that line they transformed the original transformers slogan which was "More than Meets The Eye" so it's a nod but also a jab at it in a way.
If you’re watching the other movies, I just want to make one thing absolutely clear. Bumblebee (2018) and Rise of the Beasts (2023) are part of a separate continuity. Bumblebee was a reboot, and Rise of the Beasts continues its story.
The first transformer scene with the helicopter got me so excited when i rewatched it a few years ago from when i watched it as a kid. This movie is awesome!

My brother and I watched the cartoon as kids and this was so mind blowing for us when we saw it in theaters. It relaunched our love for these characters. Don’t think they needed AS many movies as they made but this one is pure magic!
From what I understand them GI Joe movies that came after this was supposed to become part of a shared universe similar to the MCU but due to the GI Joe movies not doing well enough the plans were canceled. There have been talks about making another attempt with the concept do to the success of the rebooted Transformers movie franchise.
My man & I are 8 months apart & he just turned 50 on Saturday so we grew up with Transformers from the beginning & loved this movie so much. We saw it in the theater twice - super impressed w/the cgi. It still holds up pretty well. Even w/Shia LeBeouf (and John Voight) being in it, we still love it.

6:36 fun fact, that yellow VW Beetle that got blindsided by that car door- that's the original vehicle mode of the character Bumblebee from the 1980s Transformers Generation 1 cartoon :P 13:25 funny you should mention the special FX, the shots of Frenzy at 12:44, 13:12, those were PRACTICAL effects, that was a real puppet they made of the character that they could maneuver off-screen, and Transformers- this movie in particular had quite a bit of practical effects and physical props in certain scenes to really sell the look and feel of things, like that full Bumblebee they were hauling into Hoover Dam, up to Megatron's legs when he was frozen there, Scorponok's tail in a number of scenes, it's _exquisite_
The first movie stood the test of time very well! First, second, and third movie will always hold a special place in my heart -- this franchise was a foundation of my childhood, and each significant on-screen death still hits hard for me. Despite growing up watching G1TF in the early 2000s, this movie delivered and I geniunely enjoy watching Oscar's reaction as someone new to the franchise. Edit: To answer Oscar's question: Yes, the music is supposed to give you goosebumps, builds up the dramatic reveal
I think the craziest thing about the Transformers movies is all the moving parts as they transform. Just the creativity to make it look good and actually make sense. A later movie has an insane transformation that is just incredible lol. That's the OG VA for Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen. He has been around forever and he recently had a role on the really gore-heavy animated show Invincible, which is also good, but heavy on the language and visuals. Shia LaBeouf has some decent movies. Earliest I know of that I remember is Holes, then you have Disturbia (plays a real similar character) and my favorite of his is The Peanut Butter Falcon, which is so underrated and no one seems to talk about it. You mentioned it many times in your reaction, but it got nominated for sound mixing and editing, plus special effects.
I remember being 2 or 3 yrs old in theaters being mesmerized by this movie, so beautiful and has always been so special. I'm not a big movie person but this is a movie everyone should see, I was beyond obsessed with Bumble Bee
lol love when ratchet bust Sam and his little run in with the power line. And love ironhide wanting to take out Sam’s parents. They act Like a little kids. Those two are my favorites from the movies.
I love how they have the yellow VW beetle on the lot because that's what bumblebee actually look like in the animated shows and movie so a lot of us the first time watching is expected that to be his look for the movie I'm kind of glad they went with a little bit of a change
The strength of this movie is, that it stayed right on the "have fun with it" line... never took itself too serious. I gre up with the transformers cartoons and saw this movie in cinemas back in the day and I still thoroughly enjoy it. Haven't seen the others in the franchise though.
I was managing a movie theater the summer this movie came out, and let me tell you it was an absolute SENSATION. It had been a hot minute since we had had a full-on summer blockbuster, and this film PACKED the theaters. I think we had it playing on 5 screens and it was still sold out for weeks. It was really cool though because they used to send us the film reels in these giant canisters that were locked and they would send the combination a few days before the premiere. But it was actually super easy to break into them, so we would assemble the films early and invite all our frienes for midnight screenings. We all got to watch this for the first time at 2am at full volume like two weeeks before it actually came out. It was such an awesome summer
This is one of those movie series that once you start it you've got to finish it because every single movie holds up beautifully and they're all SO GOOD!
There's a video of the voice actor for Optimus Prime explaining where he came up with the voice. He's been the voice actor for most if not all of the character's renditions. It's a pretty amazing story.
I grew up with these movies and I still get chills every single time I hear the Optimus prime theme, the autobots theme, and at the end when he gives his speech with linkin park in the background.
Megatron's voice is done by the same actor who played Elrond in Lord of the Rings. It's hard to recognize because of the computerized vocal enhancements.
So I grew up with transformers as a kid. Always been a bumble bee fan. My cousin use to make me watch the cartoon with him when we were kids. I actually liked this movie. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Lol I don’t even mind that they made Bumble bee into a Camaro. You should check out the Prequel as well.
Every time you post a childhood favorite movie of mine, the joy that surges through me is comical! I love your reactions and I'm so happy you're reacting to this movie!
One thing to watch out for, at the end of virtually every movie in the series, Bumblebee gets his voice back, only for it to be gone, talking through the radio again without explanation in the next one
Generally, the Autobots will never turn into a plane or a military vehicle. I get they're supposed to be blending in, but you'll see how later that excuse doesn't really make any sense.

I was lucky enough to grow up with Transformers Prime, and it's the reason why _I_ associate him with Optimus so much.
You would have to know
how cars works,
how those particular chosen models work to the part,
then plan and figure out what you modify to match with the story and how the film director wants them to move and then only actually rig it,
go back and forth with the director, the supervisor, the animators then,
get it approved and pass it to the animators.
When he kicked the small bot's head, it did the wilhelm scream
THAT SCORE THAT GAVE YOU CHILLS IS ARRIVAL TO EARTH!!!! AND YES IT SHOULD GIVE YOU CHILLS!!!!!!!! SO FREAKING GOOD!!!!!
Legit made me hyperventilate in the theater.
The entire soundtrack is so underrated!!
@@Chireiya 100% AGREED!!!!!
Energon is the life blood of all Cybertronians. It powers their tech, weapons, and themselves.
Man I remember watching this for the first time in theaters. Seeing them transform was mind blowing. It looks so realistic! I love this movie.
A couple of quick fun facts:
The military aspect was SUPER close to how they'd behave IRL as far as communications, uniform etc because the US Military consulted pretty closely with Michael bay on a lot of that side of things.
Ouf, a scene of one Tera, that must have taken a while to load in
As a early 80s 90s kid be voice patterns and dialogue between Megatron and Optimus took me back to my childhood.
"I didn't know they could mimic animals." Do we speak 👀
Transformers: The best car commercial ever made :D
I mean...not really
@@Gaspatim no no, they've got a point. Bumblebee's second was a prototype Camaro, released a year AFTER the movie. You can imagine how high the sales were for that car and the other cars used by Autobots in this movie.
@@brandoncartmill6283 sure but it's Closer to toy commercial
11:41 Fun fact, to create that line they transformed the original transformers slogan which was "More than Meets The Eye" so it's a nod but also a jab at it in a way.
If you’re watching the other movies, I just want to make one thing absolutely clear.
Bumblebee (2018) and Rise of the Beasts (2023) are part of a separate continuity.
Bumblebee was a reboot, and Rise of the Beasts continues its story.
56:31 Dude that shit still hits as hard now as it did back then
Fun to see Shia LaBoeuf and Jon Voight acting together again like they were in Holes - another fab movie you should check out on here!!
The first transformer scene with the helicopter got me so excited when i rewatched it a few years ago from when i watched it as a kid. This movie is awesome!
That frame of Shia Lebouf leaning up against Bumblebee with "Who's Gonna Drive you Home" playing in the background is SUCH a great shot.

As soon as I received the notification, I pressed it and arrived here.... 😅
Gotta love the OG Optimus voicing almost every iteration of Prime the great Peter Cullen 🔥
16:29 There are many different subspecies of Cybertronians that tend to fall in either political faction of Autobots/Maximals or Decepticons/Predacons, to name only a few:
Autobots/Maximals:
Aerialbots
Dinobots
Mini-Dinobots
Decepticons/Predacons:
Seekers
Constructicons
Insecticons
Terrorcons
Mini-cons
You missed the Combatacons

There’s an entire wiki page dedicated to all the different subspecies, I wasn’t gonna say all of them.

The way your eyes lit up in the first couple seconds when Optimus started talking I knew you’d enjoy this haha
Also hope you saw the clips during the credits
This was one of my favorite videos of yours. Your excitement while watching was great. And shows you’ve never seen these, as you missed one of the most classic lines in the series over the years. Peter Cullen aka Optimus saying to Megatron “one shall stand, one shall fall”.
My brother and I watched the cartoon as kids and this was so mind blowing for us when we saw it in theaters. It relaunched our love for these characters. Don’t think they needed AS many movies as they made but this one is pure magic!
I highly recommend checking out some of the tranforse series such as Prime, Animated and Beast Wars.
WE NEED TRANSFORMERS 2
Yesterday I was literally thinking if you had watched transformers, and wanted it so bad. Thx for reading my mind!
I don't think anyone expected it to be this good when it first came out.
From what I understand them GI Joe movies that came after this was supposed to become part of a shared universe similar to the MCU but due to the GI Joe movies not doing well enough the plans were canceled.
There have been talks about making another attempt with the concept do to the success of the rebooted Transformers movie franchise.
The one you said that you loved was Ironhide, he is my favorite transformer.
11:40 oh my god I'm so slow! I just now notice that "more than meets the eye"! it only took me 17 years to notice
Second favorite Sci-film franchise
Michael Bay is one of my favorite filmmakers
(At 16:30) MOST of them can. This was an all-time favorite Scorponok.
The first role I watched Josh Duhamel (Captain William Lennox) in was the TV Series "Las Vegas"(2003-2008) as Daniel "Danny" McCoy a former U.S. Marine.
Hello, I am here on the behalf of the entire fandom you just summoned to your channel. We shall now reside here until all movies, Michael Bay and Travis Knight, have been watched 🙃. Also thank you for watching, these movies are seriojsly underrated
I get SO excited every time you haven’t seen a classic. I’m 45 seconds In but I just know this video is gonna be great 😌
6:36 fun fact, that yellow VW Beetle that got blindsided by that car door- that's the original vehicle mode of the character Bumblebee from the 1980s Transformers Generation 1 cartoon :P
13:25 funny you should mention the special FX, the shots of Frenzy at 12:44, 13:12, those were PRACTICAL effects, that was a real puppet they made of the character that they could maneuver off-screen, and Transformers- this movie in particular had quite a bit of practical effects and physical props in certain scenes to really sell the look and feel of things, like that full Bumblebee they were hauling into Hoover Dam, up to Megatron's legs when he was frozen there, Scorponok's tail in a number of scenes, it's _exquisite_
HELL YEAH!!
These films are fun to watch!
Edit:
To answer Oscar's question: Yes, the music is supposed to give you goosebumps, builds up the dramatic reveal
3:50 oH ShiVeRs MaTe
I remember being 2 or 3 yrs old in theaters being mesmerized by this movie, so beautiful and has always been so special. I'm not a big movie person but this is a movie everyone should see, I was beyond obsessed with Bumble Bee
Transformers more than meets the eye is part of the original cartoon theme song.
lol love when ratchet bust Sam and his little run in with the power line.
I watched this movie in theaters when it first came out. It was amazing!
The strength of this movie is, that it stayed right on the "have fun with it" line... never took itself too serious. I gre up with the transformers cartoons and saw this movie in cinemas back in the day and I still thoroughly enjoy it. Haven't seen the others in the franchise though.
As a child of the 80s, hearing the iconic transforming sound at the opening was amazing. 😁
Oh my god you're on a roll!!! I love the first 3 transformers movies you're gonna have so much fun
Michael Bay is known for the over the top incredible experiences! Loved sharing it with you cozy couch❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much 🤗
This movie is definitely in my top 10 favorite movies
Also i ove Bumblebees voice at the end and Rip Jazz
This is one of those movie series that once you start it you've got to finish it because every single movie holds up beautifully and they're all SO GOOD!
As a kid my family and I went and saw this in theaters 7 times. 7 TIMES! I don’t think we’ve ever watched any other movie in theater more than 2 😅
the transforming always gets me its so incredibly detailed if you look close you see different parts of the car and it just gets cooler each new movie
There's a video of the voice actor for Optimus Prime explaining where he came up with the voice. He's been the voice actor for most if not all of the character's renditions. It's a pretty amazing story.
I grew up with these movies and I still get chills every single time I hear the Optimus prime theme, the autobots theme, and at the end when he gives his speech with linkin park in the background.
i was not expecting u to react to one of the TOP movies from my childhood this is like a dream come true. the first few movies are SO GOOD
Megatron's voice is done by the same actor who played Elrond in Lord of the Rings. It's hard to recognize because of the computerized vocal enhancements.
Hugo weaving, I don't know if I'm spelling it write, but that's surprising
So I grew up with transformers as a kid. Always been a bumble bee fan. My cousin use to make me watch the cartoon with him when we were kids. I actually liked this movie. It was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Lol I don’t even mind that they made Bumble bee into a Camaro. You should check out the Prequel as well.
Fun fact: the human that megatron flicked was actually Micheal bay himself
9:21 "Someone needs to put that guy in his place!"
Jason will, dont worry. 😏
Every time you post a childhood favorite movie of mine, the joy that surges through me is comical! I love your reactions and I'm so happy you're reacting to this movie!
MY FAVORITE FRANCHISE!!!!!! The TRANSFORMERS FRANCHISE IS TURNING 40 YEARS THIS YEAR!!!!!!!
S-7 guy is John Tuturro❤👍🏼
If you don't know much about Transformers, the '80's animated movie will do that just fine. It's so metal.
One thing to watch out for, at the end of virtually every movie in the series, Bumblebee gets his voice back, only for it to be gone, talking through the radio again without explanation in the next one
You should check out "Transformers Prime", the animated series. It's one of the best incarnations of the franchise, IMO.
Generally, the Autobots will never turn into a plane or a military vehicle. I get they're supposed to be blending in, but you'll see how later that excuse doesn't really make any sense.
49:12 ... Also he's the black one. It's textbook.
