    The actor who voiced Doc passed between one and two. So instead of replacing him, they gave him a memorial in the sequel. It was really nice

      The voice of Doc is Paul Newman, who had a fondness for cars and race cars which is partly why he took the role. I think this was one of his last roles before he passed hence the memorial was not just a tribute to the character, but also to the actor. 😊

    Couple of easter eggs I don't know if many people know. When this was made, Arnold Schwarzenegger was actually the governor of California, so the Humvee saying "Lightning McQueen must be found at all costs" was a nod to that. And at the start of the final race, they are talking about everything shutting down to watch, and show a sign that say the City of Emeryville is closed. Emeryville CA is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is where the Pixar studios are located.

      They were finishing post-production when they realized that Ratzenberger wasn't in the film. Rather than risk jinxing their streak they wrote, recorded, animated, rendered, scored, and edited in the closing scene with The Underminer in something like 36 hours in order to include Ratzenberger while still making their release schedule.

    22:22 What caused Lightning to be how he was supposed n the movie was explained by a book that McQueen was originally nicer and had a friend named Carl at the racing academy he went to, but the day of the big graduation race, in which the winner would get a sponsorship and be able to race in the piston cup races, Carl told Lightning that one of his lug nuts were loose and could cause an accident. So Lightning let Carl’s pit crew tighten his lug nuts, but they instead loosened them on orders from Carl. When Carl won the race McQueen realized he had been lied to and betrayed by his friend and closed himself off from others. He stopped talking to his classmates, studied more and decided to only trust and rely on himself refusing to let anybody close to his in fear they would betray him as well.

    Hi Oscar! I’ve been watching your reaction videos for a while now and I’m a huge fan. As someone who normally doesn’t like watching people’s reactions to things, somehow your channel hits differently. You just seem like such a genuine, positive person and the amount of insight and thought you give to every thing you watch is a nice change from all the other hustle and bustle on RUclips. Since hearing you were Christian, (I am too) I thought I’d recommend the show The Chosen, which has been my favorite show for a really long time. It’s the first multi season show on the life of Christ. It really brings the bible stories to life and each episode is really well made, written and acted, and has tons of emotional moments and some jokes too. I first found your channel through the Avatar the Last Airbender reactions vids you posted, which I really enjoyed (also the Prince of Egypt and all the Toy Story ones)!! Anyway, I’d love to see your reaction to The Chosen. It would really make my day. Oof, that was a huge comment 😂😂 Thanks for all you bring to RUclips and God bless!

      Based on how it’s portrayed in the movie, it looks like everything Chick does is technically legal but considered very poor sportsmanship. But the NASCAR rules in the Cars universe don’t necessarily line up with NASCAR rules in real life

    • @battleblaster4203
      @battleblaster4203 5 месяцев назад

      Eeeeeh for a while it technically was as long as you made it look unintentional (thats what separated good drivers from bad) but post 2010 they started cracking down on what made NASCAR , well NASCAR, the wrecks ,the fights and such and ruining it , because as long as you did it and nobody got seriously hurt (i.e barely more than a bruised Ego or budget) then it was ok (and doing it so no one got hurt was also a separation between good and bad)
      So while some of what Chick did was barely legal ,most of it was outright illegal (all of it is illegal in todays standards )

    • @kingadam69

    I used to watch this movie religiously as a child when I was growing up, back when I didn’t even really know what NASCAR was. Nowadays I’m a HUGE NASCAR fan (possibly because of Cars, I suppose) and feel like I have a pretty extensive knowledge on the sport, so watching this movie back these days and noticing all the little references and odes to real NASCAR, as well as all the voice-acting cameos from actual NASCAR personalities like Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Mario Andretti etc that I was oblivious to as a child is absolutely fascinating 🤣

    41:55 - Best for *EVERYONE!*
    Doc calling the press did Lightning a favor.
    Lightning's entire life and purpose was focused on racing, and for him to miss out on that opportunity would have left him always wondering what could have been.
    And he would have also missed the learning experience to realize there are other more important things than racing.

    • @thecocoacouch
      @thecocoacouch  5 месяцев назад +4

      He did the wrong thing; that happened to produce a positive result in the end. Everything worked out well but it was still wrong. Also just to add to it, he didn’t make that choice to help Lightning, he was motivated to get rid of him and spare himself the pain of having a reminder of what happened to him rolling around. I’m just saying this because sometimes people confuse the choices they make with results and then repeat poor choices they’ve made because of a positive but lucky outcome. Obviously Doc though learnt what he did was wrong and made up for it.

    As a girl who grew up in the country next to her grandparents' farm, yes, combines do have the potential to do damage to a car if they drive over it. However, that would only really happen if the other vehicle is standing still as combines have a max speed of around 30 kilometers per hour.
    As for the song "Life is a Highway," fun fact: Rascal Flatts are not the original artist; the original was done by Tom Cochrane in 1991. It was one of my favourite songs on the radio when I was growing up.
    Great reaction as always, and I look forward to whatever else is coming up. :)

    This movie is pretty much a childhood classic for me. I loved this film so much that along with Tarzan I could watch this movie over and over and over again when I was younger. I watched it like 5 times a day. Hell, a core memory of mine is when me and my family moved into our new place, all our furniture was still wrapped in bubble wrap, my cousins were helping us out and so we all sat down on the floor in front of our TV, ordered pizza and watched Cars 1. This movie along with Tarzan will forever stay in my heart.

    Should you ever get the chance to travel the southwest in the U.S. you can see many of the areas along the real Route 66 that the animators used for influences in the movie. While there are large portions of 66 that have fallen into disrepair, and you'll have to hop on I-40 to bypass them, you'll still be able to see the skeletal remains of many of the small towns that once flourished and thrived during Route 66's heyday. It's a poignantly bittersweet drive from L.A. to Chicago on 66 and the relic of a long bygone era of how life once used to be slow and easy here in the U.S.
    On a lighter note my grandparents used to do Poker Runs along Route 66 back in the 40's and 50's from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. They'd start out with an opening hand of playing cards and there were stops along the route where they'd exchange cards, increase or decrease their bets, get water for the radiators in their cars, and rest for a while. When everyone arrived in Vegas the person with the best hand of Poker won the entire pot! Then they'd all go out, get drunk off their asses, and gamble every penny they had. LOL
