Broooo I cannot appreciate you enough, my beautiful Celica seats I neglected and left a stain that settled and made the fabric all crusty and fall apart but now I can restore it with your technique
Well done! Another variation on this is to push the off-cut inside the hole out of view to one side beneath the cloth, then put the glue on the spot on the foam. Then with a tweezers or needle-nose, grip the patch and pull it into place.
i refuse to believe people come to these videos and expect a ripped out hole to completely disappear xD... its obviously gonna still look like shit no matter how you do it
So sad to see how people easily people can judge... If this video isn’t good enough, then go ahead and post your own video.. Hands down for this excellent repair.. Keep posting more videos and thank you for your time..
The black makes it show less. In other colors it would show up allot. Easier to just cut a bigger piece in a round or oval shape and overlap about 1/8 - 1/4 ". Make it bigger to get a round or oval patch which the eye won't notice as much as straight lines. Then glue only the edges of the piece and lay it down over the whole or tear. When dry the glue will harden enough that you can trim a bit of the top of the edge to lessen the step with some small curved fingernail scissors. It won't come off and be less noticeable.
I've seen many fabric seat repair videos, and your results were the most presentable by far! I have older rare Acura seats and reupholstering devalues them. I'll be performing this repair. Thank you!
now sit on it a few times. be lucky it lasts a week. the off cut is glued to the foam which will stretch differently to the seat material when sat on and will soon pull apart. nice bodge when selling a car but thats all it's good for
I know a guy who does this to used cars at a dealership,,,,he showed me this and said it was only a guick fix to sell the car, and that it would not last more than a couple days of sitting on it before it opened back up...
I don't know that guy either but I know a guy who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a girl, who knows a guy, who know a girl who's asking why was this in my recommendations.
That’s interesting. Last night well browsing marketplace I stumbled across a young guy who knew a guy that worked for a guy that happened to be the guy that was related to the guy that new the guy who said that advice
I think I may go to a craft store and get the material I need instead of cutting fabric from my car. My seats are black as well with a design in it. I feel that black fabric is easier to fix because it’s less noticeable. Thanks for the video.
I was going to ask what type of glue do I need to be able to do this repair I appreciate you taking time and showing people to do thanks again this is much help
Best video out there. Was about to invest in one of those repair kits but with this video I think I can do it without it. Bought a used pair of WRX seats and unfortunately owner was a smoker. After a deep clean and patch of the hole they'll look good in the GC8.
Christopher Anjos I also, cut out a piece of the seat fabric from underneath the seat....and if u use matching thread, and sew the stitches real tight and short, then you dont have a ditch around it to fill in with extra fibers..,,although sometimes I still need extra flock fibers to it anyway...I do this for a living...
It's a good way to temporarily cover or hide the hole if your trying to quickly sell a car I'd rather just use a needle and black thread or find black upholstery patck cut it and put it on seems easier then cutting more parts off other seats or just get a nice seat cover
When you cut the seat material and wanted a tiny piece , why do you cut a large piece and not a small one ? Also why can’t you just use an off cut of any similar material as the inner backing as long as the colour is similar ?
I have an old peugeot 205 convertible and the seats are perfect, apart from one of the bottoms of the rear seat. It looks like someone has neatly sliced the fabric along the grain of the material with a really sharp knife, only about three tears right next to each other, couple of inches long. Is there a really strong tape i can put underneath these tears and hold it together/support it? Thanks.
This repair isn't any good, the best way to fix that would if been to remove the seat from the car and cut the whole seats cloth out and replace it with some blue harbor freight tarp with your free coupon and then spray paint it black.
I wouldn't do this if I was going to keep the car but if I was going to sell it and just wanted to make it look a little better I guess that would be a good way to do it other than that I think it's a stupid fix....
AAAAAAAND THATS WHY SEAT COVERS EXIST, YOU PUT THEM ON THEY LOOK GREAT, AND WHEN YOU WANT TO SALE YOUR CAR YOU TAKE THEM OFF, JUST CLEAN THE SEATS A BIT IF NEEDED AND SEATS ARE BRAND NEW AND CAR LOOKS GOOD. LOL. YES I KNOW I KNOW THIS VIDEO IS TO FIX THE HOLE BUT I DO CAR SEAT COVERS BEFORE MINE GET DAMAGE
🤦♂️ This guy reminds me of the older gentlemen I see driving cars around with black bumper bars, repaired with silver duct tape. He’s fixed a hole in a car seat by replacing it with a temporary pubescent mole, that didn’t require the backing of the seat cover to be cut off, needed a far larger patch of any black cloth tucked into the hole. NOT glue slopped everywhere (which yes, dries clear, but glossy), and at the very least, some thread to secure it better to the patch beneath. He may as well have used silver duct tape 👎. To my Lady… If I start fixing things in this manner, the gun’s in the shoe box under the bed. Please set yourself free of me 😕.

I skipped to the end; 'the hole is pretty much invisible'; all I saw was the hole.
To be fair, this is one of the better repair videos!

This is better than all the others I watched!! THANK YOU! I CAN DO THIS.
Best video on r subject I've seen. It makes sense to cut a piece of fabric to fill the gap before applying the fuzzies.
Dude ALL of my seats have holes in them, and you dont know how grateful I am for this video 😭 I was afraid I had to buy new seats and everything

I am hearing impaired and read transcripts but did not catch what type of glue. Also my seat in 2017 Nissan Rouge looks like nylon or polypropylene?
what's the name of that glue you using please?
Such a good idea to fix ! Going to try this ❤
Great video going try repair my seat now
Great result, do some more videos with different fabrics and colours.

I didn't know this could be done! Nice tip with the carpet fibres!
Thanks!
Maxmeyer O
Was anyone else thinking thats to much glues both times but some how worked
WOW!!! Great job!!!
What kind of glue did you use?
You are messy with that glue! I sew the patches in, with tiny stitches and matching thread.
I have a bandaid patch to patch a cigarette burn on my seat. How did you sew your patch?
Christopher Anjos I also, cut out a piece of the seat fabric from underneath the seat....and if u use matching thread, and sew the stitches real tight and short, then you dont have a ditch around it to fill in with extra fibers..,,although sometimes I still need extra flock fibers to it anyway...I do this for a living...
I just want to sew a patch. How did you get the needle through?
Christopher Anjos if the seat fabric is too hard to get the needle through, you pull it with needle nose pliers.
@@shaleenymay awesome. Thank you!
Thats nice the problem is if you brong it to carwash / detailer they will scrub it and for sure it will fall
Wow thanks gonna try this!
hi what glue was it please sir
Thanks! I am going to do this on my Nissan Altima, Because it's starting to tear.
What kind of glue?

Very cool tip. Thanks man
Does this works on heated seats too?
It sure does!
That's grand, thanks a million.
excellente technique ingénieuse :)))
Is that PVA glue, like Titebond or Elmer's?
How long should that repair last?
Great fix!!. Thanks.
Brilliant 👏

awesome
Thankyou
Does wood glue work ?
Yes :)
Could have used a glue that dries to a rubbery feel, that glue will be hard. Still great job.
What kind of glue would that be
@@mcalann I guess gorilla or ultra clear
Holy Mother of God that is a useful tip! Genius to use a piece of material from the same seat. (Slaps forehead)
Filling the hole and stitching the patch would probably be better
Good stuff
