As a dad to one child, a daughter, who is about the ages of your daughters, taking on the responsibility they have, is so amazing. Mom & Dad, great parenting. Seeing God-fearing, hard-working young people take-on this level of responsibility with the pride they do is such a blessing to watch and I truly learn so much from all of you. Thank you for sharing!
Nice to see how much fun you all had with this, especially the Boss man, or is it officially the King now? 😄He's really cool with the camera now, no signs of shyness anymore. 👍
It gets more interesting all the time this channel. I cannot identify trees at all. I live 80 miles from Reno Nevada in the trees I have I don’t know what they are. Great job ladies.
when i was a little kid a big sassafras tree got hit by lightning and split open you could smell root beer from 50 feet away... i don't think I will ever forget that
Fun video! I knew you all would do well. Boss Man really had fun with it too. The King and the Princesses of the log yard have done it again! MEMENTO VIVERE!
at 2:31 Roxxy sees Jade blindfolded, smelling big wood chunks and thinks, *_THIS is what happens when you sit out in the sun for just a little TOO long . . . back into the shade for me_*
what a wonderful, fun video 👍 and the The Boss got em all right. Big thumbs up to everyone 👍 Oh yes now when ever I stop at a gas station and they have firewood, I always Think of Lumber capital Log Yard.
Smellivision! You go girls! I must admit, I love your whole family. You guys are awesome...TY for sharing your day to day activities with the rest of us. YHVH Bless!
As always, love your videos, Em, Jade, and the boss doing a tough job. Em, I like your shirt, (I did hug it first) then made lumber with it. 😂👍 Thanks for sharing.
Great video and impressed with Boss Man's talent and enthusiasm! Thanks for fun unique video. 😍Roxy's expression, "a sniff test? too easy a challenge for us dogs" and went back in the office.
What a hoot!!! Such fun! Back in the day in my hometown we had a veneer mill and the supervisor had such a fine-tuned nose he could not only tell species of wood, but pinpoint within 20 miles the source. I was astonished by that skill and sought to learn. While I can now identify most species of Western woods when green or cured, and the majority of Eastern woods cured...I can't tell you where they came from...lol
I use to work at a plywood mill and 90% of the wood we processed was White Fur, which we always called "Piss Fur" (for obvious reasons). The best was Red Fur which had a great smell. Western Hemlock really didn't stand out either way. But over on the green end, the absolute worst smell was when they pulled sinkers out of the pond and ran them...
I've always noticed the smell of the wood I use in my shop but would never be able to identify anything other than Pine or Walnut by smell. Really impressed that Ken was able to identify 6/6 👏👏 Looking forward to other videos on identifying wood species. Thanks for this
I really enjoyed this video. Good job, Team LCLY! FWIW, we used to have fun with machinist apprentices by pretending to be able to identify the alloy of aluminum and steel materials by the smell. In reality, we could tell by looking at the surface of the various metal alloys used in the shop.
I worked in a veneer mill, and I could tell what was cut that day by the smell. I really like black birch, but not bass wood. We also had to put some short pieces of veneer in the splicers, to balance out the pressing beam ends, and as those heated and toasted away, they would produce some nice smells, too.
Absolutely loved the video-On your ongoing series could you have sets of branches with leaves on them? 55 years in the millwork-cabinetmaking business and I still cannot identify some trees in the forest. I can identify Zebrano veneer, or Brazilian Rosewood or quartered Anigre. You see the problem?
That was awesome reminded me of an episode of Tool Time they did the same test Tim put his sock on the board and All said it smells like it has some sort of weird fungus.
This one was really fun! Being a carpenter I cut and sand many types of lumber, I have my favorites for the smell and 12:26 others I hate! Some mill up great and others don't due to checking when ran though the planner. One that will make anyone gag if you don't have a mask is Monkey pod, it's a tree we have in Hawaii. Still lov3 this video.
Ya'll got some great sniffers!! The only one I could probably get right would be pine, since I used to live in a pine thicket! The pine smell was strong after an ice storm breaks up everything. Thanks for sharing your day with us, and have a great evening! TTFN
Fun video, I sure remember having to do very similar type things to identify different wood species back in the day! Brought back some great memories! Thanks for making it.
Loved this video. The Boss rocks! As a woodworker who frequently uses exotic woods like mahogany, zebra wood, olive wood, and others, you get to be pretty good at knowing what each species smells like.
Indeed, a good time with all of you!! Fun game n interesting to see how all of you... act/ react ... to different wood samples! Fun visit n an informative one ,as well! Thanks! 🤙🧙♂️🐺👍
Gotta say, Boss man killed it! And yes, a video on identifying tree species would be great. Although it’s not the right time of year I’d love to know how you do it in winter with no leaves to go by. Maybe just touch on that if you do a video soon
That is fantastic! I am struggling to learn what trees to plant where: some for wood building materials and others for firewood power/energy. Could we make a 60 X 100 barn with white oak beams and hemlock siding?
I sawed some locust the other week and took a black light out around the mill that night, it looked pretty neat! You could see where you walked and tracked the sawdust and the wood itself looks amazing. Just in case you didn’t know locust glows under a black light!
i really like pine trees the most.. they smell so good ... When there's pine needles fall to the ground they create a soft blanket for you to be able to like sit down on and have lunch or something or maybe even camp out. to throw your tent on top of those soft bed of needles
That was fantastic you all are very talented. I think the Boss Man may have instigated that video to showcase his knowledgeable daughters. Great video.
That's a fun game and educational too, think I will try it on the boys. Don't have a big locust, do have some small ironwood we make walking sticks out of... Jla
The boss man knows his wood for certain. As someone with pretty near no sense of smell about the only wood that I recognise the smell when cutting is oregon. It's not even native here in Aussie though.
Reminds me of the Home Improvement episode where Tim test Al on his knowledge of wood doing the same thing, then he puts a smelly sock on one of the pieces and He cant figure it out...classic!
Had some reclaimed lumber given to me yesterday. It looked familiar but had almost no smell. Had to cheat and research it. Ended up from Walnut family was Butternut the poor man's Walnut years ago. Beautiful wood.
Emerald this informative video works for both high IQ students and those like me, more “Ed”. I bought some dried rough cut 2 x 6 x 14 today at from a family sawmill somewhat bigger and older than yours in Maryland, NY. Referred to me by one of the big lumber mills nearby who don’t handle rough cut
"Just throw it to me"
Famous last words.

Reminded me of an episode of Home Improvement. Al was doing the same. Was a great episode.😁
Nice to see how much fun you all had with this, especially the Boss man, or is it officially the King now? 😄He's really cool with the camera now, no signs of shyness anymore. 👍
What more prize could you ask for, than the family you’ve got?
You two are awesome....liked this game....you two are my hope for the future
It gets more interesting all the time this channel. I cannot identify trees at all. I live 80 miles from Reno Nevada in the trees I have I don’t know what they are. Great job ladies.
You guys really know your woods but your dad reigns supreme. Experience will teach you a lot.
This was a fun video and a change of pace. You all really know your woods. Very impressive!
I would love more tree ID videos! I have forgotten most of what I used to know.
Hi there!!!! I have been following you guys for quite some time, and was AMAZED at the awesome resemblance you have of your father!!!!!
when i was a little kid a big sassafras tree got hit by lightning and split open you could smell root beer from 50 feet away... i don't think I will ever forget that

Thank you Gerald. Have a good evening.
I like the enthusiasm for wood-smelling all around
at 2:31 Roxxy sees Jade blindfolded, smelling big wood chunks and thinks, *_THIS is what happens when you sit out in the sun for just a little TOO long . . . back into the shade for me_*
I noticed I was unsure what the dog was thinking, you nailed it!
I was waiting for Jade to give The Boss a piece of plywood!
what a wonderful, fun video 👍 and the The Boss got em all right. Big thumbs up to everyone 👍 Oh yes now when ever I stop at a gas station and they have firewood, I always Think of Lumber capital Log Yard.

You guys are all SO great.
And Jade is the best thing ever made. 🎉💙👑😊

Boss rocked it. Great stuff.
Your video was awesome. Your dad is hilarious but u and jade stole the show , thanks again for the daily humor!
The boss man definitely knows his stuff showing years of experience in his field of work. You're the man! This video was awesome! 🔥🔥🔥
I have never cut down a tree let alone being able to identify a species but pine, I knew that the Bossman would win. What a great video LCLY.
Lots of jokes out there about sniffing around the lumberyard. Not only the wood id but where and when cut. Quite impressive and very informative.
I've always noticed the smell of the wood I use in my shop but would never be able to identify anything other than Pine or Walnut by smell. Really impressed that Ken was able to identify 6/6 👏👏 Looking forward to other videos on identifying wood species. Thanks for this
Looking forward to more cooking videos and more wood cutting. Nothing better then a whole family involved in a great project
Well...This was fun...😁
Good show...👏
That's hilarious love the video ❤Have a wonderful day everyone 📹👍😉 ☕️?
I always thought hickory had a sweet smell when cutting or turning. Fun game. Thanks for sharing
That's why a lot of people prefer hickory wood for BBQ.
GREAT JOB, GOT THEM ALL, 👍👍👍👍👍👋👋👋, LUMBER MILL FUN, CAN'T WORK ALL THE TIME
Definitely looking forward to your Dad doing some tree identification
Another first class video from a family that knows their stuff.
I am loving your 't' shirt, I am sure the tree was happy enough to get the hug.
I really enjoyed this video. Good job, Team LCLY!
FWIW, we used to have fun with machinist apprentices by pretending to be able to identify the alloy of aluminum and steel materials by the smell. In reality, we could tell by looking at the surface of the various metal alloys used in the shop.
Fascinating - never thought you could identify wood that way.
You guys are good.................

Fun video. I l like that you included the family. It was also educational. Keep up the great job

It's the terpenes in the wood.
Awesome video. Reminds me of Al Borland on home improvement.
Fun video, I sure remember having to do very similar type things to identify different wood species back in the day! Brought back some great memories! Thanks for making it.
Like the idea of wood ID What follow up on customers why they pick certain timber and how they use it. Best wishes from the UK.
8:58 Hahahaha!!! Your dad is hilarious
So glad I found your channel! You girls are awesome.🙂

school we used to have a "book" with Wood veneer to learn different wood types.
But this is so much more fun .
"I'm King"
Love it
Another awesome video from Lumber Capitol log YAArd! I love this channel!
This was a really cool idea for a video.
i really like pine trees the most.. they smell so good ... When there's pine needles fall to the ground they create a soft blanket for you to be able to like sit down on and have lunch or something or maybe even camp out. to throw your tent on top of those soft bed of needles
Cedars smell best.
Awesome way to show the family knowledge
Thank you John. Have a good evening.
The bos is really expert about wood👍👍
Very funny game. You are really specialists for wood. 👌👏
It's good to see you having fun. Great idea ladies.👍♥️♥️
I would very much like tree identification vids, from standing to milled.
The Family should do a Photo Calendar like Firemen do. I thought of this watching your last Question and Answer video. A very Photogenic Family.
I really enjoyed this one. Very funny. You guys sure know your stuff!
That was fantastic you all are very talented. I think the Boss Man may have instigated that video to showcase his knowledgeable daughters. Great video.
Great video! Looking forward to the tree identification videos!
Now that's a game I know I'd win every round of. I learned my tree ID by smell when I was in early elementary school.
I did some woodworking so I would be good at this game too. Not surprised all of you did well.
What a fun, educational video, as usual!
Nice fun!!!
That was fun!
That's a fun game and educational too, think I will try it on the boys. Don't have a big locust, do have some small ironwood we make walking sticks out of... Jla
Great video. I can identity the trees that can be tapped, used for carving, and used in fire starting materials like fatwood , cottonwood ect.
Excellent fun video which I enjoyed watching 👍😃😃😃🚜🇬🇧
You all did great! I’m impressed!

I could do that between red oak, pine and poplar but not the others! Great channel.
Great job guys! That was very impressive! Pete 6out of 6! Nice!
I could get the pine.... that's about it. Some of the others I'm not sure we have up here in MA. Looks like fun though.
2 lovely sisters
140 thousand subscribers outstanding to the whole family
What a great family u guys are blessed 🙌 😇 🙏 ❤
Impressive, and entertaining!
You guys are amazing!
Liked that shirt so much I bought one, how convenient it was on your merch site! :)
I noticed near the start of the video that your doggo is planning revenge for taking it's sniffing job away from it.
That was a great video you guys are great at what you do. Ps love your shirt made me laugh
Nice change of pace. Impressive knowledge
Dad was hilarious 😂
When he's tossing the wood away, I want someone over there to say "Ouch, damn it!"
It was a fun video, thanks
That was really cool thank you for sharing it with us.
Dad's a hoot😅
You girls definitely have his silly serious gene😊
Great job, can't always be cutting wood.
Sometimes your just gotta smell the forest.
