Dude I just got back into acid bath for the 1st time in a WHILRE. Man they're so good. Dax is so incredibly underrated and the whole band is really. I've been playing off and on more than half my life, but always stuck to standard tuning(sometimes drop D). I just randomly acquired a mark Holcomb PRS. It's setup for standard C from the factory and God damn do i love it. I've always liked all kinds of drop tuned music but never played it. I Fn love it now. I learned into the blue 1st off and was hooked.
I was able to talk to Sammy about his signature guitar and was telling him about how ALOT of people want his guitar and that he basically made my dream guitar happen, we both drink miller high life and he was such a easy going guy and when he goes into stage mode, he's like a demon it was really really awesome. Sammy Deserves the good attention he's such a cool dude.
@@kristopherguilbault5428 Yes, I enjoy many kinds of beer, but as far as the most popular traditional American beers (Budweiser, Coors and Miller), I like High Life the best.
Got really (really) drunk with Sammy back near the end of his Acid Bath days. We had mutual friends and ended up closing down an awesomely shitty little pub called "The Loose Caboose" in Lafayette, LA. We pounded $2 Old Milwaukee pitchers all night lol. They played a small show the next night there in town - maybe 50 people there, & most were friends of the band. Good times! Long live Acid Bath! 🤘
As a metal head here in Louisiana that cut my teeth on local shows in the late 90's, this pedal is like a time machine to my youth. I don't need it at all...but I kinda want to own it.

I like the sound of this pedal. When used in front of a driven sound like in this demo, the tone reminds me a lot of how a TS808 works in the same spot. The TS808 has been a staple in that slot for a lot of metal guitarists but this pedal offers more knobs and tone shaping. Me likey.
It's called a Dybbuk. I had one a couple years ago, along with a Lonely Ghost, a Crissaegrim, and a Ball Gag noise gate (which I had renamed as a Cemetery Gate). They were all incredible. I sold all my pedals a little over a year ago to help fund my wedding, but I miss them almost every day. I used the Crissaegrim as a boost, and the Dybbuk as a bluesy overdrive on my clean channel, hilariously enough.
I remember seing Sammy at the Belasco with Goatwhore and I don't remember which string broke, but it happened twice in the same song and everything stopped and had to re-string it on stage himself, it was fucking awesome haha
I wonder if the Usurp part is a nod to Celtic Frost and maybe is to be played with the tone rolled down (also like Obituary). Sammy is bad ass. Sickest action photos of all time too haha.
Michael Klein made me one of these a few years ago, back when he was just doing custom order stuff. I asked him about the Usurp knob and he specificalyl said it was based on that Celtic Frost tone.
@@Magmoormaster haha awesome man! Thanks for the confirmation. Celtic Frost was my first concert as a kid in 1987 with Anthrax and Exodus. Love that tone!
Pedal sounds kickass. Would love to see a breakdown of pedals that are more focused towards black and death metal. Feels like a lot of pedals more push towards a Slayer type sound or a more prog vibe imo.
Usurp sounds like a mid booster that brings the melody out of the strings like Gary Holt does, that's how you bring out the high gain bad assery without dialing gain back. I love that stuff
There was a pedalboard video Sammy did a few years ago for Godlyke/VisualSound/Maxon where he was showing how (at that time) he was using a Maxon OD808 overdrive into a TWA Triskelion Harmonic Energizer, and I'm betting that the "Usurp" knob does a similar sort of thing to the mids frequencies that the Triskelion pedal used to do. Seems like Michael Klein combined a couple of ideas from those previous pedals and created this new Dybbuk overdrive. It sounds just like Sammy!!! I like the sounds very much.
Pedal sounds amazing, but no surprise. On the other hand, the mere crunch channel in that Badlander, on its own, sounded great, which was a pleasant detail.
I do suggest putting a floyd rose on the type x cannibalismo or any double locking tremolo companies and by the way do you have an idea if this guitar has active pickups ?
Sammy is awesome i met him when goatwhore toured with exodus (killer show) also got to meet Gary Holt. Great tone and memories. I think Sammy just got a new signature amp head also.
Minor correction, his last name Duet is pronounced without the T sound. Like "Do-Eh" It's French in origin. He's Cajun after all. (Edit: I realized after typing it that some people may pronounce the "eh" differently. Here it's meant to sound like saying the letter A. Not making the "ah" sound but straight up saying A like you're reciting the alphabet. Not sure how else to write that out lol)
That Badlander sounds awe inspiring all by itself. Pushing it with the level control on the pedal takes it into insane territory. Didn't care much for the drive side of it. That Usurp control sounds like some kind of mid shift maybe?
OLA ........ IF you havent checked out or used an Eminence DV77 you may be missing out. i understand why Mick from slipknot uses them. its like a good celestion, but better somehow. its in the attack and mid followed by that bass response. i have mine paired with a Swampthang.
