First time owning a car after 3 years . Never knew about it until I got my oil change . They wanted to charge 80$ . Went home did it for myself 10$
booooyaaaa nice work
Don’t ever have a mechanic change it. It’s not worth $100. Do it yourself
If you can't do it then you're slow 🧠
Yep, it’s a 5 minute job. Pretty simple to do it yourself, and you saved about $80-$90 from the dealer price. 🤨
@@carlovanrijk4039uh ...no shit, it's not like it's rocket science, tf
@@Iknowyoumadnowuntil you change one on a Nissan product 😂
@@DM-id3yw Yup, my friend has a Nissan Maxima and the struggle was real.
Local oil shop wanted to charge me $50 to change it. Na I’ll get one from Amazon for $10
You can hold the old and new filter up to the sun and see how much light is blocked. It is a good indicator of how clogged the filter is.
It's not that expensive🫥
I've heard some people say do it every other oil change, but that seems kind of excessive unless you live somewhere super dusty or humid
I say once a year should be l fine
I do mine every 10k miles.
I do mine about every year to 18 months.
I guess it depends on the oil change interval.
I haven’t ever changed mine and I’ve had the car for 12 years. 😲😲😲
Theoretically, a clogged filter catches more debris lol but yeah change it
We learn that the hard way I had to replace the blower motor after we replaced the hvack system. In a 2002 Honda Odyssey. Had oem filter since the factory.
My mechanics try to make me change my filters every 5000 miles.
My husband and my new car has 3 of these filters (SUV) so we aren’t gonna replace them quite as often as I used to on my lil cars with one, however the previous owner I can tell probably never changed them 😳 They were sooo dusty. Easiest 15 minutes of my life. Waiting to change the air filters too
Just change mines a lot better now
Does that cause it to blow hot air if you don't change it?
Who says mental bro everyone knows it’s sped
🙃😏 I didn’t change mine for 10 years you think that’s dirty 😅
Laughs in 2007 Mazda 3
They charge me 77$ for that
Every year is not necessary. I just blow mine clean with my air compressor. Every three months works great.
I go to mechanic shop for 20 years. They never told me about this filter need to be change. I think the mechanic guy doesn’t know it existed
I like to put a Little Trees in the filter compartment with a new filter.... easy thing to do.
I won't flow as good even if it's a little bit
It would be better to just buy liquid fragrance and put a few drops/sprays onto the filter material itself. Won't block the airflow like a tree will.
Pretty princess needs his car to smell like flowers lest he be reminded of his mortal coil.

I gave your mother a ride , been smelling like a nutsack ever since. I had to do something.
Not every car has one, I’ve busted more than one quick oil change place for trying to change my cabin air filter for $50 on a car that doesn’t even have one, they even grab a dirty one off a shelf and tell you its yours. Good way to get a heavily discounted or free oil change if you’re smart enough to act dumb enough for them to try to scam you though.
Mechanic at jiffy lube offered to replace it for $50 while it costs $10 at advanced auto parts and it’s easy to replace
I learned this with my last car, kept smelling damp and moldy..so now I change them yearly or as needed..
Just replaced my friend cabin air filter in Her TSX and is 10X dirty than in the video
😵😵
When you do this please wear a N95 mask because I didn’t and that dust and nasty stuff got in my throat and lungs.
Can a dirty filter cause a burning smell?
I suppose… but more likely that something is burning…
We use it every month 😁 love from india
What's the video called? Can't find it in your "Video" list.
I hope you and your family are ok? Please let us know
Change it more like 15k miles 😂not every year. Again depending on how you drive where you drive etc.
Depending on “how” you drive ?? 😬
Every year! HA!
Best practice of course.:)
I think I have changed mine once in 7-8 years
Nice!
If I drop something small and light into the middle ac vent will it end up in the filter?? Can someone get back to me on this
No. The filter catches things coming in from outside (usually right below the windshield)
@@BudgetMechanicHawaii is there any way to retrieve an item from the middle vents without removing the whole dash?
@@BudgetMechanicHawaii its not metal so I can't use a magnet im just lost it was kind of important but I think I'm sol
Appreciate you
Thanks!
I change it once a month. I buy a big home filter panel, then cut multiples in the same dimensions as my OEM filter. I get 4-6 of the best quality filters for about $5 each
So why not just go filterless like we did many years before this bs?
Because your car will be full of dirt and smells.. Common sense
@@HVACR_LIFE old cars didn't smell
So you call us mental because we didn’t know about these filters?
You're sped ed
