Great explanation!! I'm trying to have a wide-ranging game. My closed guard was left in the past, and the video ended up refreshing some logical concepts.
Man this video really helped me, I really like close guard since many of my training partners are either really explosive or just better than me, gives me a chance (however small) to control them and get into attacks, I would like to second the request on the No Gi closed guard stuff. Thank You for the amazing content!
Half the time I can barely even close my guard in drills, because of the combination of my short length and my partner's girth (and probably a bit of technical flaw on my part as well). My professor jokes that I've invented a new guard, "Toes Guard", because I hook my toes together instead of my ankles. It's all I can reach!
Lmao yeah there is some truth to this closed guard can be a not easy position if there is a huge difference in leg length to body size. It’s important to understand but open guard is most critical for your defense in my opinion. Closed guard is a powerful tool to have.
This is very helpful JT. Do you have an exhaustive closed guard attack series? I’d really benefit from that. Love your stuff. TY.

Great details as always
Really nice video, Jon! Really nice choice of topic to focus on here and great insights!
I play far side collar sleeve and I very often end up in close guard from keymaster like the last example you showed. Really nice entry.
Could you show/explain how to set up Closed Guard in Nogi? How do the grips change for example?
Need to start working my no gi again, once I start up I will definitely start doing that
Another brilliant video
Thanks a lot buddy
Ah yes, the flying squirrel technique, flying gracefully over the shoulder and setting up the guard. So masterful…😂😂
This guy looks like a Hollywood actor. I can see him on CSI or something like that.
Great video:)
Could you please make a video how to counter most popular ways to open the closed guard?)
Sure I could make a video overviewing that
Or they boot you out of mount. How I get closed guard most of the time!

Or you can roll from mount. Lol
Lmao this should have been the whole video
