Thank you all for watching! If you've any cases or stories you'd like us to cover in a future episode, let me know !
What about everyday science, or medicine, historically, VS what we use nowadays. Like before and after, germs, we're figured out, or how surgery evolved.
Thanks; you must be a professor in real life. The way you speak softly, then emit a seemingly random, ``THIS WAS NOT UNUSUAL'' would wake up anyone happening to be dozing due to too much partying the night before, as per college life. These were interesting stories; the one new to me was the ``Fire Devil Of Volkhoven'' one (have been a true-crime aficionado for several years and hard to find cases of which I've never heard.) That Siefert guy was very horrifying and am surprised I never heard of him. I do like to hear of crimes from other countries (am American.) One I've been longing for is the Yoghurt Shoppe murders from Austin, Texas, but it will likely remain unsolved. It happened in the '90's, I believe, and, last I checked, was never gonna be solved, as the killer or killers set a fire in the yoghurt shoppe after killing the workers at closing time, and there was zero evidence left, but you can follow it if you want, anyway. Thank you again, sir!
Thanx for this one and hi from sweden.
Thank you for this extra long episode!! Bedtime playlist complete!!
Angel Makers of Nagyrév: group of women led by Susanna Fazekas who poisoned around 300 people in the village of Nagyrév between 1914 and 1929.
I wish Paul could read me a bedtime story every night. I don't care if it's the phone book! Such a wonderful, soothing voice. Thanks, Paul!
I totally agree 👍
What I do is take a long compilation video like this one and create a 'sleep' playlist. I put this video, or one like it, in the front of the queue followed by sleep aid videos or livestreams. I use heavy rain or thunderstorm videos but there's plenty of sleep video options available. White noise, ocean sounds, music, etc.
I can attest to the effectiveness of making sleep playlists, I have suffered chronic insomnia since childhood and it has helped me a lot.❤
I took a nap 😴 earlier listening to his voice. Might be disturbing to some lol
@@veronicastevens1614 I've fallen asleep to these videos myself.
I wanna hear him recite gangster rap... it would be absolutely hilarious
Perfect for those knitting evenings when I feel like listening to a wonderful voice telling me of awful crimes.
I’m a knitter too, how great is knitting, but I am listening while trying to learn to crochet (I don’t like it, but I’m trying to learn how anyway lol) After reading your comment I wish I had listened
to this with a knitting bee. That would be fun.
Same only I'm crocheting! 😊
@@addie_is_me I'd join you if we lived close by. I love to knit and just can't get the same satisfaction out of crochet.
😄
I knit whilst listening too looks like I’m in good company 😊
Paul. That was a very eloquent and powerful speech about the miscarriage of justice of Edith Thompson and why it’s important to recognise that even 100 years later.
Thank you for telling this story and for your thought-provoking comments.
No matter the horror,it is always good to hear the English language spoken so properly.
Agree along with the outfit, love it.
In a true Scottish accent
YT is 99% rubbish, but it's channels like this keep me watching the mess Google have made of it. The American God $$$$$$ rules. Sorry about that, you are in the top 1%.
"Correctly"
Agreed
Amazing how a particular voice, a certain accent can make anything sound intriguing. Thank you sir.
Dear Mr. Brodie, at the conclusion of every video you put up, you are always so kind to thank us for watching it. I’d like to say I thank YOU for entertaining us with your excellent storytelling. You Make what would be a boring day, since l am an elderly widow living alone, a delightful and entertaining way to start my day. Thank you! 👍
Bless you 🙏 ♥️
I agree 100%. Such a kind way of complimenting Mr. Brodie. I'm sorry your days are long. Unfortunately many of us are spending too much time alone. God bless you.
I've been binge watching these videos for ages. It's great to get such a recent one. What a treat. Greetings from 🇮🇪
Greetings to you from 🏴🍀
Reaing this on Saint Patrick's day was an agreeable and pleasant conclusion.
I really enjoy your long videos. I hope that you will continue to make them.
Paul, I’m one hour in and these are the most riveting and moving stories I’ve heard in a very long while. Being from America, I’d never heard of them so far but wow. This is incredible.
Rain and flooding outside is a perfect backdrop today.
❤ from 🗽
Same! I’m in Oregon and it’s gloomy and raining. Got the day off so I’m spending it here. 👋🏼
Such a superb channel!
The long form videos are always my favourite!
Dear lawd, those poor children, and those terrifically brave women!💔🙏
Thanks from Germany for all the research and effort in presenting such cruel events in a tactful manner.
Thank you so much for making these! As an American there are alot of these I haven’t heard, I always desperately look for something beyond the same American serial killers whose stories have been told over and over, and this channel has it! Plus your voice could end wars! So comforting!
Wir werden Sie nicht vergessen! Rest in peace sweet children and brave teachers. 💕🐝💕
The Straffen case haunted those who lived in Bath at the time. My Mum always remembered it and spoke in sombre tones when remembering it. His victims are never forgotten 🙏🏻❤️ I'm enjoying your work, Paul - fascinating tales, told with care. Thank you
I could listen to you tell these stories all day
Those Defenseless Little Babies!and Teachers! 🙏🙏🙏🙏💔💔💔💔🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Yay, you sir will be joining me for housework. 👏👏😂
My Lord - the burning of Bridget Cleary is one of the most horrific story I have ever heard.
I don't know how I would have gotten through today's housework without Paul ❤
Ah, another long voyage into darkness. Thank god our guide is capable and has a lovely and comforting voice.
The reason I visit this channel daily, top shelf channel for sure!!!🙏👌👻❣️
Perfect binging material for an afternoon of work! Happy Friday everyone.
I love listening to your stories, while i am cleaning my house here in Colorado, USA
Such awful subject matter, yet spoken so beautifully.
Fascinating. Terrible. Addictive. Hypnotic. Cheers Paul 🍻
Thank you for telling these moving stories, and thank you for putting forward the victims. Greatings from Nette in Denmark
All these photographs truly are amazing!
Thank you for this long upload Paul 😊🎉
Why schools? Why do these monsters attack our most vulnerable? And teachers always the heroes. Always.
A lot of people believe that horrorfing things have been happening in our day and age. I think it's been going on with people since the beginning
Exactly! There's been horrible violent crimes in all times, it's just that we're much more exposed to it nowadays thanks to media and the internet. While in the past, news of some crimes never even made it outside county or state lines, and there was more of a hush culture back then also, so a lot of things like domestic violence, sexual assault or child abuse went unreported.
Re Edith Thompson: My family used to build their library in the staff shop of Odhams Press - Watford many years ago as the male members worked there until 1980s. In my Great Grandparents bookcase there was a book printed possibly in the 1940s or 1950s that painted a less than positive picture of the case, how times change. Would love to lay me hands on the book just to refresh my memory as been about 30 years since I read it (books were estate cleared over 20 years ago).
I recently discovered your channel and it's quickly became one of my absolute favourites. Thanks for all the great content!
You stories give me something to listen to while I paint.. I make beautiful dolls that look like real babies.
I am a new subscriber today!
I really love your voice and your class, accent, your look.
You Are the perfect voice of the storyteller
Who defies time, with this timeless voice!
Long life to this channel!!!
13:26 wow I thought school shootings were the most heinous crimes; shooting flames at children??? They didn't even get a quick death; those children died in agonizing pain and the survivors I imagine lived with horrific physical pain and scars for the remainder of their lives.
I watched a german TV documentary about it a few years ago. I was absolutely horrified. This must be among the worst crimes ever committed by a single person.
@@JimmyS.25it is. its just disgusting. one of the worst ever.
The judges were completely wrong in my opinion…John did not have a mind of a Ten year old but the mind of a killer! I wonder how these convictions were explained to the parents of their murdered children.
I agree, he but did what people do now blame anything else. Also the courts enabled him tremendously to take little responsibility. I don’t get it, but that how it strikes me.
I completely disagree with "Not guilty due to insanity". Get them psychological help sure, but they still need to go to prison.
they were definitly wrong. he was a killer like u said. simple as that. who happened to be mentally challenged. An awful awful man.
Usual story by the authorities we have learned lessons. Look at the sorry state this nation is in.
Lovely to see Nicola White interviewed as part of your coverage of the torso killer. I've been watching her videos for 2 or 3 years and her historical research is fascinating. Thanks so much Paul!
Where is the link to her channel please
In regards to the Cologne School Massacre, it is interesting to note that back then that the majority, if not all, doctors were male. The same can be said for the military. Yet in his anger he directed his violence on women and children. I don't exactly what that says about society or him but it says something.
Thanks for the upload on International Coffee Day 2023 and Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 today on September 29!
Happy festival 🍂🍁🫓🥐🧇🍮🥧
@@TheCandiceWang Thank you! I plan to have an October Fifth Bakery Walnut and Black Sesame Seeds mooncake later today!
Yay! Paul's in the room for 2 hrs❤
My favorite true crime channel!
❤❤❤..... Absolutely love these historic tales by your fabulous narration. ❤
Edith was wrong to cheat, but good husbands don't beat their wives.
People who cheat will cheat on a genuine good person too.
Excellent coverage! I enjoy binging on "Well, I Never!"
2hours and 25 minutes!❤ thank you Sir😊
Thank you! Very interesting stories from decades prior to today. I like to learn how the laws have possibly changed. Some of the things within each story really surprised me. Excellent job!!!😊
Kudos.....Accolades!!!! Delivering horrificness in bite- sized portions..... a great accomplishment!!!!
I love the way you have scripted the first story..... delivering the story down an unpredictable road only to rebound back to something or someone familiar ..bringing the tale to fruition, in the end! 😊
Hello Paul, so happy for this video. I enjoy your videos immensely. I cringed at the first story, how terrible for the teachers and children. I suppose that there was few options for the mentally ill. So very sad for all. Poor Bridget, a victim of superstition and ignorance.
My favorite videos are of past disasters in the UK and America. I appreciate you so much. Well researched and told with compassion and no sensationalism. ❤
The first attack ( I just started) is Absolutely Horrifying!
Now I am shocked I was born in Colonge. but I never heard about the school
Well, I never thought that I would be able to listen to your over 2 hrs. crime video, but I did!
I so love the photos of Edith, Freddie and Percy together, at 47:12 and 48:10 and 55:47 and especially 48:59.
They remind me of Impressionist paintings, not the style itself (obviously there's no color for instance), but the subjects, how they're captured candidly and casually, in situ, as opposed to carefully posing like most people still did for photographs. The expense and pain-in-the-a__ of photography were both still fairly big factors in the early 1920's, so it's kind of remarkable that someone(?) was snapping images of this trio just doing 'whatever'.
Also how none of the photos have all three of them looking at the camera, but the one(s) who do .... they look at you and challenge you to figure out what the heck's going on here. Not only is that oh-so-Impressionist, it adds to the question of why these three people were photographed closely together so many times, as if a unit, when normally this would only happen if the three were related, or maybe a trio of same-sex close friends. A woman and two men situated close enough together they could fit in a lens frame .... that's a bit odd even once, never mind 4 times.
And look at the strange one at 55:47. It's so light-washed it almost looks like a painting, and it appears the photographer did some touchups by hand (like the designs in Edith's skirt). But my goodness, look how Freddie is resting his head on her hip, lovingly held there by her hand ... while space completely separates her husband from her. You have to ask, did this not bother him? In the beautiful 48:59 image, he sits between them with his arms crossed and a stern look on his face. Was this one taken later, after he'd become suspicious? I wish I knew.
I’ve been to England 40 times and was married to an English girl for a little while. Based on what I saw there, Edith was a better than average English wife …. And if it weren’t for abortion, that island would be overwhelmed with bastards.
I also found the photos very profound 🇬🇧
Excellent research, presentation, and read so elegantly.
so glad i found this channel! No matter what the content is...with a voice like that you can read the dictionary to me backwards and upside down and id be hooked! 😍😂
The voice but also the personality of someone who doesn't mind sharing stories
This is time honored tradition inherently throughout all human spoken traditions and it's always throughout the generations manifesting at random
Some oral tradition are handed down from father to son etc but u never know how the magic of story telling is going to pop up and transport u to a new place and time
I love the compilation videos! 😊
Hello Paul, and Thank You, from Pennsylvania! I hope you're doing well! You do have a soothing voice!
Watching you on a rainy Saturday morning in the u.s. life can't get much better...thank you for all your hard work Paul it's very much appreciated....😊🙂
Thank you much, Sir, for your impeccable research into the Who, What, Why, When, Where & How of investigative journalism.
I am a new Subscriber.
Storytelling yes but also he's teaching history as well or a specific history of a sort the sort of which is a criminal one usually and it's fascinating to be in comfortable quarters to go to interpret the heinous and repugnant misdeeds of
I enjoy spending my afternoon listening to your soothing voice telling very interesting stories of the past.
Thank you for the long upload!
You have a wonderful storyteller's voice
I agree PAUL does have a wonderful voice so easy to listen to .
loved that Paul. thank you! the case of Bridgette Cleary is an example of history that should be more " mainstream". keep them coming xx
Paul, ya might like another Irish crime, early 1800s in the big beside my town, the story is always referred to as "The Wild Goose Lodge". It makes Wuthering Heights look like a fun time by comparison.
That was quite a story!
Omg 😱❤️😱❤️ I’ve never clicked on a video so fast I’m so excited there’s a new one!!! I love these super long ones!!! ❤❤❤
Poor Kitty, 2150 years I’m still fighting the same battle. Bless you my sweetheart.
❤ captivatingly told. Thanks so much
Im from the US and I recently found your channel and absolutely love listening to your stories. Your voice is great and also i get to hear stories I've never heard about. So thanks so much
The compassion in your voice when you say "away with you, come home Bridgette Bowland in the name of God" whether acting or no is very touching,
There needs to be a live action scripted series based of these stories, specifically the Victorian crimes. Reenactments style even!
I just came across ur channel yesterday and I'm hooked!!! I love how much care u put in to each case and all the research u do aswel. U are an amazing narrator plz don't stop with the videos
Holy Schmoly! I heard Nicola speaking and I thought my RUclips had jumped on its own. So happy to see a collab!
You have such a calming voice. It is a wonderful change from people screaming at each other. Awesome content to boot. it's a win-win ❤
Absolutely ❤ this channel and all the historical content! I have always loved the softness of a clearly spoken Scottish accent, so musical! Thanks so much for your hard work! I am a fan!

I stumbled upon your channel Paul, I'm blown away by the meticulous research and content, particularly the historic images, I hadn't been aware of many of these events, I was truly saddened by the Edith Thompson case, Congratulations, your hard work is 'Gold Standard'.

Brilliant any stories around the swansea area
So good it is much like sneaking the extra cookie!🎉
Never heard the first one before and I wish I hadn't not because you don't tell it well but because I caught an image of the burn marks(I normally just listen) and now I feel sick and haunted.
