Seeing you break composure about Dr. Crippen's bathroom bit bought so much light into an otherwise dark story. I enjoyed that so much I had to rewind and rewatch!
13:59 I can’t believe this guy just seamlessly fused all three of my favorite subjects into the first 14 minutes of this video- true crime, history, and poetry- ARE U KIDDING ME?! This channel is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. Bravo sir 🫡👏🏻
Your dignity for all involved in these cases is admirable. I've seen far too many true crime channels and presenters who either overly exaggerate the events or disrespect the wishes of families of the victims or perpetrators. Sending support from West Virginia in the US!
Of all the many tellings of Crippen's case, yours will always be my favourite. Watching you try to control your bafflement and little skit about a man not escorting a male guest to the loo is always a delight.

I love it when you leave the bloopers in exactly when they happen. It tells us that we're allowed to laugh at obvious absurdity. Thank you for being human, and such a great story teller! I've actually watched this particular episode at least 3 times, and it gets me every single time!
These are the most professional, well researched and well scripted true crime productions on RUclips. Took a long time for the algorithm to lead me here, but better late than never.
Thank you for these! My beloved, late husband was an Austrian cop; I learned so much from him, and all of it was fascinating. You present the cases clearly and with such gentle elegance that they don't seem crude or sensationalistic in the telling. Bravo!
True Crime for history enthusiasts. I'm appreciative of all of the details you've included which give the stories much needed depth and context. While most true crime channels tend to rely on sensationalism which can strip the stories of their real world implications and the victims of humanity.
I feel so sorry for Yvonne. I find it truly sad that someone who knce claimed to love you would then be so disgusted by your mere presence. It's clear he never actually loved her and only realised this after many years. She deserved better than him. Truly a tragedy the turn her life took.
@@tosspot1305@tosspot1305 Male, well-known serial killers have gotten off, only to get caught again years later after more gruesome killings. Given the time period and how women weren't allowed much of a life outside of marriage, it probably felt like a death sentence on its own to be discarded by your husband. This is what happens when you oppress people to the point of dependency and then dangle the idea of leaving them over their heads. You get broken-hearted, illogical, and desperate thinking. This woman was being mentally, emotionally, and financially abused.
I really like the changes in location without skipping a beat in the narrative. Very effective. Also your voice is wonderful and calming. Even the most heinous crime sounds better when described in such a calming manner. I would like to see compilations of shorter stories. There are many stories to tell that don't have a lot of information available for a longer documentary.
...Pierre got what was coming to him. His treatment of Yvonne in that day was brutal; when statue mattered, her embarrassment of his pompous flippant cruelty of his wife drove her to sheer madness. I don’t agree with what she did, but in that day, divorce just wasn’t an option!
Did he deserve to die? Maybe not, but it is very hard to pity him with how immensely abusive he was. Very easy to pity his wife, who seemingly attempted everything to reclaim her dignity.
Yeah, I'm only a few minutes into the 'Pierre' story & I already hate the guy. Your partner deciding to be with someone else _always_ sucks, but at least in today's world, the wife would've had the option to divorce in an equitable manner. But back then... Divorce (which only _he_ could ask for at that time) would've completely destroyed her reputation, likely gotten her shunned by society/kicked out if she attended a church, rendered her financially destitute & completely un-date-able, & worst of all: she may have lost ANY rights to their children, even visitation would've been completely up to him (& you _know_ he'd never have allowed it, & would've had them calling the mistress 'Mother'). No, I don't agree with her killing him, & there should've been _some sort_ of punishment for it, but it's so hard to blame her for the desperation/frustration finally reaching a flashpoint =( I wish we taught young people, even my age (late 30's) more about what life was like for women during that era. So much of it is over-romanticized.
You cracked me up with Dr. Crippens bathroom argument with his wife. My goodness! IF I was to argue with my husband about him accompanying another man to the bathroom, he'd have me committed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I'm obviously not alone in loving the fact that you let us peek behind the veil of your usual rock solid composure and laugh at the bollocking Crippen got for not carrying out his toilet duties. Thank you for leaving the blooper in! On a serious note, I liked it that you opened the subject, saying "As many people believe" I have doubts, too. What if Belle killed one of her lovers.? I'm serious. She'd have a lot more time to dismember the body for starters. Then she made one last gesture of contempt for her husband and disappeared. No notice, no letter. She did take a few of her things, mostly ones that wouldn't be missed. It wasn't unusual for women back then to just have a few dresses so she left behind the 'showy' ones. "Gone Girl" could happen then too, perhaps more easily. When her friends started getting suspicious and hounded him, he made up a story that was probably close to the truth. So he trapped himself.
This is why I’m against the death penalty - we don’t get it right every time and feeling bloodthirsty doesn’t help. (Also - it’s shown to not help victims loved ones, costs more than life in prison and is not a deterrent).
Fun channel! Cora Crippen was pretty clearly the body in Dr. Crippen’s cellar: her head and torso were wrapped in Crippen’s pajamas. Thank you so much for presenting these excellent reviews with such accuracy and interest. You have a remarkable talent for putting yourself, as the narrator, right at the centre of that particular period. I was an 8 year old schoolboy at the time of Ruth Ellis's execution, and I can say for certain that Capital Punishment "brutalises" society. I never quite got over the trauma of being so aware of the efforts which went towards getting Ruth a reprieve and yet, the British State, still killed her. Being the former wife of a husband like Yvonne's, I say, "Bravo, Yvonne, bravo!". And for all the housewives to cheer says a lot about how common it is what men put us through.
Poor Yvonne. She was exactly what you said - a good woman who had been treated appallingly. I have little doubt that she intended to kill herself with those weapons, and only took them up in desperation. And poor Ruth. She had such a hard go at life - if she'd only had a better opportunity, I doubt she'd have gone to such lengths. When all someone knows is abuse and violence, they know no other way to react.
I don’t agree with killing but while hearing the story of how he treated her made me so mad. I can understand when the wives on the court cheered on her. Also for the mistress is the most disgusting person

Mental health and wellbeing of a Society seems to be the one thing that we never focus on as we should. We are good and able with judgments, excuses. But when it comes down to the core of the issues, mental health seems to be the bright glaring "IT'S ME" we all ignore. Especially when you have a Society, as we do today, where peoples opinions matter more than truth or facts. I do not see things getting better as long as we take the current path we are all on. Wonderful channel Sir, glad I found it.

Yes please, I look forward to it!
Mr. Brodie, while I am always intrigued by your stories, I am total bound by your way of telling these stories. I am soon to starting a RUclips channel concerning music and I shall be giving you shoutouts for your channel! Please continue your stories as I find listening a delight!
And I also enjoy the crisp smart English I would hear my teachers trying to teach us . Next time I go to India or Pakistan I am going to meet them touch their feet, because in our culture no one is superior to ones teachers, not parents not even god
Thankyou Sir for your stimulation mentally
Your posts are so interesting and your speaking way beautiful
The longer stories are great to go to sleep to. If I can only get the volume just right it would be awesome. The commercials are louder than you speak so it jumps way up and startles me lol. You do a great job and the wide variety of topics that you cover is always interesting. So again thank you from the USA my friend!
Really enjoyed this compilation of cases please 🙏 definitely do more of these xx 😘
I love your narration of these stories. You definitely make them much more interesting and compelling. Your laughter at his being belittled for not showing the guy to the bathroom was hilarious. Because it was absolutely hilarious! Can you imagine such an ole bitty hen of a wife? Almost makes you feel sorry for him. Thanks and keep it up!
love watching your channell
Thanks and keep them coming riveting from beginning to end
Love your channel!! Keep going!!
Thank you Darlene. We're certainly planning to 😀

Excellent, Paul. The compilations are great, and I think you've got everyone's consent to produce more, including mine.
