There's so many shooters coming out these days that aim to have such hyperrealistic firearms that're very true to life & true to what's in service with armed forces; nothing wrong with developers wanting to push for tactical accuracy, but with how so many studios & developers do it, it becomes very old very quick. Seeing a developer throw all that out the window and go out of their way to make some ridiculously designed & engineered firearms and going out of their way to make every weapon incredibly unique is something to really commend, and I really hope to see more of it. There's a lot of thought gone into how these things would mechanically work, which I especially like, and I hope to see more games go this route when it comes to making whacky guns.
The last time I checked there was usual amount milsims coming out (almost none) CoD and alike are just artistic failures that are neither accurate or stylish

The Dolphin isn't that insane. Straight pull actions exist. This one just happens to have the magazine on the charging handle. The Termite on the other hand...
The termite is a 3 clip loaded and 3 round burst rifle (?) nothing much except that is all that special, just kinda inefficient with the clips needing to go on a journey to actually get to theur place, atleast from what i see on the video.@@grimgrahamch.4157
@@adtrlthegamer7449 Probably similar to how most guns' magazines stay in--with a latching mechanism designed to withstand the forces of firing the gun, but also to release easily if you press a lever.

Its like Adventure Time vs Forgotten Weapons. it's all homage/ obscure real world design, like clearly this is fantasy yet heres a physical copy made by a french guy
what's the most repetitive one, you'd say? personally the vector-ish guns. it was cool in titanfall, dont need to see it everywhere (yet i still welcome them, i have a soft spot)
@RayleeRaven567 for me, the most repetitive ones are the M1911 and Glock pistol, A13 and AK (Kalashnikov) Rifles, Double-barreled and Pump Action Shotguns, and the M249 Light Machine Gun.
I'm used to that kind of silliness from Totally Accurate Battlegrounds (hexa-suppressed minigun go *vrrrt*). What I find rivals that in hilarity though is the Breacher 8 having the option to put a silencer on it, because it apparently somehow crams up to 8 shotgun shells into one barrel, fires all of them at once and still manages to come out with a hollywood sound. I wonder how much of this game's arsenal was built on "sure, screw it, why not?" mentality and a helping of maniacal giggling.
only one I really have a problem with is the stick grenade. The reason why the stick is there is to increase throwing distance, due to the added leverage
M3 Termite open my eyes to a new meaning of "burst clip" The fact that it doesn't replace the magazine to feed new rounds, it uses premade clip with 3 rounds on it Instead to whi h inserted on the left side of the gun... Wew, I'm gonna have some fun ideas for guns later on after this
@Scoobby96 oh ya that gun, it's really fun looking at it like in Battlefield V, definitely the first weapon that made me think of "wow, it's so unreliable but it's cool as hell!" I said unreliable cuz I felt like an open magazine often prone to jam due to dirt and particles
Out with the hyper realism and tacticool bullshit! We need more games like this that aren’t afraid to make unique and different gun designs. The strive for hyper realism in gaming is taking the fun out of a lot of games, not everything needs to be 1:1 like real life. It’s a video game, not an engineering class, we need to reintroduce weapon designs like this into the mainstream gaming space, cause god knows we don’t need more “tacticool” slop.
I love the designs and reload animations. Designs creative, reloads simple yet satisfying. I’m mortally tired of seeing the same milsim shit for decades.
What I love here is that the guns are unique and odd yes, but they mechanically make sense and could reasonably function. Something like Starfield just has nonsense guns that look ugly as sin and don't make any functional sense (some literally have square barrels, lol), but here they look believable and functional, while still being unique and original.
Saying that they mechanically function is a bit pushing it, some of these are way out of the left field and impossible to function. But they are created with a clear vision in mind and doesn’t take themselves seriously at all, which I can respect.
The guns in starfield with square barrels generally use square bullets, as shown in some of the reload animations. these are most likely based on modern caseless ammunition, but in real life, only the casing is square. still, theoretically functional
Just my personal thoughts on the inspirations. The ferryman seems to have a similar concept to the P90, albeit scaled up by a large margin. As for the Dolphin 99, reminds me more of a nerf gun, specifically the xm4 blaster (its a prototype), since its as if you are priming some spring by pulling the magazine while loading a bullet. Overall, love the look of the guns honestly.
Palehouse Topclipper really reminds me of that Vietnamese improvised pistol (look for videos of guns in Military Conflict: Vietnam, you'll see it there)
No Round in the chamber mechanic on any of the guns? I mean with the starting gun it wouldn’t make sense, but with every other gun does he always just carry Magazines One round short of full capacity?

I think it's intentionally ridiculous, a lot of these weapons are based on real weapons but with weird ridiculous quirks to them, but the actual viability of some of the magazine/feeding systems seems somewhat fleshed out, it's just that they're super impractical and ridiculous
I too am a bit of a gun nerd, and really appreciate realistic depictions of firearms, but this game is very clearly trying as hard as it can to not be realistic. And honestly? I appreciate that. It hurts my brain to think how a few of these guns actually operate, especially the Dolphin, but they're at least really creative and visually interesting. There's plenty enough games nowadays that depict guns realistically nowadays.
