Eastward 24 Catamaran On Water Performance and Review

- Опубликовано: 27 май 2024
- Well, my Eastward 24 Catamaran is finally in the water and all electronics are a go! In this video, I show you all the features of the Eastward, do my best to show its rough water capabilities and also show some mpg loops.
This is all with approximately 210 gallons of fuel on the boat. The MPG numbers would improve as some of that gas gets burned off.

Magic Carpet is how I described my first ride on a Freeman 33, too. Catamaran ride is just incredible
Boat is amazing. Those numbers are amazing. That ride looks amazing. The cat age is here
Congratulations, John! Great video!
John: Congratulations on the new boat. All I can say is that I wish I were several years younger than I am now at 72 and I would be placing an order. Just amazing!
Finally the wait is over for the review. Awesome boat looks like you got everything you wanted. Best of luck with it!
Looks great with all the gadgets and the electronics. Best of luck.
Love it, John. Safe travels.
The ride and numbers look impressive. Best of luck John.
Congrats on the new boat. Looks like a fishing machine. Catch'em up!
Beautiful boat should give you many years of enjoyment. Congratulations and all the best on your new charter adventure.
Very Nice! Its been a long wait but worth it.
Blu J is the best in the business!!
That's one helluva ride John...best of luck with it! 👍
Thank you Ray!
Cool idea using the livewell as a bleed bucket😊
Finally !!! The boat review.... Thank you for posting this up ... Don't hold up on us moving forward.... At least give us quarterly reviews 😁
As a CAT owner myself, I can relate to how you feel about your boat John. Great boat and best of luck with it going forward. Now go catch some fish! 👍👍🐟🐟
Really nice ! Wish you the best ! Like your channel…you keep it real! 2:01
Incredible boat and performance. Congrats again! Look forward to seeing it perform in the rough stuff too. If it were me, I would prefer yammis on the back, since there are very few Merc dealers/service centers in south Jersey. But can’t beat those performance numbers!!
I hear you on the Yamahas. Agree on their reliability. My marina is an authorized Merc dealer/service center so just makes sense for me
Beautiful boat! I love your American flag!
Congratulation once again on your new boat. I'm here for the trolling motor. Mine is not even a year old ( Minn Kota Terrova 72 inch I pilot link ) I love it but for the CONVENIENCE I would consider selling it and getting the quest. Is that crazy or what?. Let's see how your works out. Please do a review on it. Great Boat I'm sure you will enjoy it.
Ha! Like any new product, I’d let the guinea pigs (like me) run it for a bit before dropping all that coin. We used it this past Sunday to spot lock for porgies and it’s quite impressive
Very nice I've always wondered how cats ride. But lets be honest my 13' whaler was fine in the bay, the REAL test is a 3' plus following sea. Every person that ever left port between Coney Island and Montauk has spent time coming home in a (bad) following sea. If you ask any old salt it's the MOST important part of owning a boat in our area. The inlets get downright nasty during the outgoing tide, I've had some white knuckle rides on boats that didn't ride well in the following sea. Lets get this cat in the chop !!!! 🌊😺
The thing that scares me more than anything is a steep following sea. 100% agree with you. Will be interesting to see how she does coming around Montauk Point when the SW breeze picks up and we have an outgoing Block Island Sound tide
God that looks so nice. I love my boat but hate the ride. Making so jealous I'm going to end up making another bad finacel decision 😂
Saw your boat on the water last Saturday. Beautiful boat!
The Gut? I think all of Long Island was there Saturday :)
Thanks for the kind words
Thats a fishing MACHINE, congrats. I like the way the set it up as well. Obviously you know what you do and how you want to do it. I do have a question on the Ttop frame. Are the vertical supports at the rear necessary for support or did you choose that for additional rod holders?
They are there for support and I added the holders
looks like a very nice boat man, congrats! have you tested the spot lock yet? will it drift faster or slower than your old one i wonder
Thanks Peter. Yes, took my brother in law and cousin porgy fishing and the spot lock is quiet. Much quieter than the Terrova. Drifts the same really except in the short spaced rips. Hold on then
32mph at 2.13 is solid
? Is are you going to be as happy after first payment lol beautiful boat my friend
Great boat congrats. I hope your fishing billys by the bay tournament on sat?
Yes, but with Rick. See you guys there!
@@jiggingjerks sounds good looks like the weather will be great
Looks great. Question for you is where did you get your flag holder at. Thanks

Looks great …. I am interested in a Seavee: how did you like your last boat
It's a great boat! Was looking to downsize and still maintain a good ride with better economy
No toe rails ? Can you reach the water ? ( that’s important to me ) thank God it’s not a hybrid cocktail boat ! You left out the registration tax, A serious fishing boat for 24’. And obviously safe for long Block Island and offshore Montauk trips. I’m drooling ! ❤️🇺🇸 Good Luck John. Thanks.
Thank you! No toe rail but the gunnels come out far enough that you don't need them. Can't reach the water unfortunately but that's the trade off for the "big boat" feel when you're out in the rips
John: That looks like an amazing boat Congrats. I would love to get one myself one day. Sorry in advance for all questions. Would a 1500 Ram 5.7 be adequate for pulling, also how is the draft on that boat, and last do the engines come all the way out the water when trimmed up.
How far are you towing? You're likely towing 10k between boat, trailer, gear, motors, fuel, etc. if it were me, unless it was short distance, a 2500 would be better. Draft is under 2 feet and yes, engines easily tilt all the way up and don't hit rod holders. I actually trim up about 90 percent at my dock to not squeeze the rigging onto the bracket and my props still clear the water
@@jiggingjerks Thanks for the info. I think you are spot on with towing just needed to here it from one who had the boat. Thanks again and enjoy the boat she is a beauty.
Gee whiz, you and the boat should get a room. In all seriousness, I know what you mean about living on the east end , I live in Cutchogue but sadly I don't get out much any more since I am in a wheelchair. I use to do a ton of fishing before out here and loved it.🙂🙂
Ugh, sorry to hear about that. Yes, I can't imagine living anywhere else
So what's Her name ? Congrats - happy fishing JJ . Twin hulls channelling a cushion of air between them - magic carpet ride for sure .
Same name as last boat - Just Fishing. Thanks!!!
That's a wonderful boat, John! I wish you many favorable drifts and bent rods on her! Speaking of.....her......did you name her?
Thank you! Kept the old name - Just Fishing
Wow best of luck. So can we ask how much before electronics.
Never mind. I wasn't done watching the video 😂
Sure looks like it rides like a dream, but how does it drift?
Not bad. There is some snap rolls in the striper rips but longer period swells are fine so far
What is the total weight of the boat and trailer
Not sure because it didn’t go on a scale on the trip north but hauler guessed around 10k when I asked him
I bit skinner likes it
He’s not ridden on it yet :)
@@jiggingjerks he will
Whens the test at Haulover? 😂
Hahahaha
@@jiggingjerks Who am I kidding Point Pleasant Canal can get just as bad LOL
@@jonmenges2256 isn’t there a YT channel that films there?
@@jiggingjerks yeah basically PP Canal version of WavyBoats
@@jiggingjerks 👋!! Congrats on the boat, can't wait to see some more videos on it!
not as efficient compared to 24 monohulls as i thought it would be
Yeah, so it's a semi displacement hull not a planing hull which is why I think it's not more efficient but that's also why it rides so well
its a shame no one knows what engines are on this boat.
Mercury 225s. Did I not say that in the video?
