I’m the 65 yr old girl who commented yesterday. YOU young lady gave me the courage….don’t ask me why, I don’t know, but I wore my long flowing skirt to the chiropractor (I thought I’d get all tangled up and yank it off…😂) and to run my errands in town today. Oh my I felt SO comfortable showing my femininity! Thank you! Keep speaking truth in the face of opposition. ❤
I wore a pretty flower dress to the chiropractor and a man came out to the waiting room and he got all excited and said I looked like spring time! Men really like seeing a girl all dressed up!
Yes! I wore a long skirt with buttons down the front and a soft shirt with little puffy sleeves and delicate sandals to my doctor’s appointment and an older man said what I was wearing was very nice and that he loves finding things like that for his wife. It warmed my heart, especially since I was feeling some impostor syndrome. Still getting used to dressing more modest and feminine 😅.
This is coming from a woman that 90% of the time wears pants. Dresses and skirts are the best for us women not only to feel more feminine but for our anatomy we need more ventilation and our feminine parts this is a fact and if you think about it make a lot of sense. I wish I could wear more dresses and skirts.
@@loves2spin2 I do my own patterns , I have studied fashion design. I’d advice to you to invest in pattern making books, follow the instructions to have a basic block to your size , and learn to transform , so many videos on RUclips could be helpful
I'm thinking also about sewing my own dresses and skirts. The reason is I can't really find in regular stors the dresses I like. I personaly like more Mennonite style dresses, well maybe not that long. Anyhow, on my way to buy my first sewing maschine🌷
I’m a 24-year-old GenZ woman, and I went on this same journey! My mom would make me wear dresses when I was young, so I rebelled against them between the ages of 18 and 22, because I wanted to reject femininity. I was also never a girly girl, so I leaned heavily into that masculine tomboyish energy I had, and cut my hair as short as a boy’s, and wore basically only baggy jeans and tshirts and hoodies. Then, when I was 23, I read “Captivating” by John and Staci Eldridge, and it TOTALLY changed my perspective on femininity. After that, I began venturing into wearing more feminine clothes again, and soon, skirts and dresses. Now, I wear them 70% of the time, because I love how I feel in feminine clothes! My favorite outfits are very heavily 1950s inspired, and I feel so elegant and graceful. Now I can see that my androgynous, masculine attitude and clothing were armor against the vulnerability and gentleness of femininity, which I used to see as weak. Now, I see that the beauty and power of woman is wonderful. Thank you Jesus!
@@littlelady7843 - thank you! I think young women today also are more inclined to reject femininity and dresses/skirts because all of the media they see - movies, books, art, even music - depict only “strong modern women”, a.k.a. Feminist women. As a young young woman myself, it seems truly almost impossible to find a single movie made in the last two decades that depicts a feminine woman in a positive light. All the women seem to be superheroes or “don’t need no man” strong-woman types - pants and tough attitudes all the way.
Conservative religion downgrades femininity and says that women are lower in rank than men. That's a lie from the devil. Men and women are equal as are masculinity and femininity, so revel in your femininity. It's the yin and the yang - society needs both equally to be in balance.
@@milo_thatch_incarnate That's a knee-jerk reaction to the days when women had few choices and were not seem to be fit for professions. You know, how it was in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and much earlier.
I love wearing slips under my skirts and dresses. They add a layer for see through cloth, but also keep it from clinging to your bottom, and make the skirt/dress have a flowy look. I've picked up some at an estate sale. I also like to wear longer cardigans over my skirts/dresses to add to the outfit. I picked up a tank top sleeve lace green cardigan that goes down almost to my calves. It adds interest to floral dresses and hides my bottom better.
hi kelli! thank you for this video 🤍 i'm 16 and out of nowhere i've gotten a really strong urge to be more feminine and a main thing for me is wanting to wear dresses. this video helped me alot and i hope to be more like you in the future.
Another inspiring homemaker’s channel is called Inspired by Nikki. She has a lot of videos on feminine dressing and even has a series called A Dress a Day in May where each day she talks about feminine dressing and showcases a different dress. She inspired me to explore dresses and also to appreciate womanhood.
I love your style. I'm 62 yrs young. I've always worn dresses but also pants. I'm trying to wear dresses more often. I remember when women dressed more feminine. It does take more thought and effort. I do feel it is worth it. Thank you for your tips and tricks.
I am 53 and working on this journey too. It started about 5 years ago when I felt like I wasn't honoring God in my clothing. I also started building my wardrobe through thrifting. I can tell how it affects my mood and the way I carry myself as a women. Great inspiration through this video. Thank you!
For awhile, I became heavily invested in the color palette theory. I only wore muted colors that matched my palette (cool spring), but recently I have dropped the color palette and decided to embrace orangy colors and I’m absolutely in love with it. I would never wear orange in the past and was told it’s not suitable for my color palette, but I get so many complements on my new orange items now that I don’t know what to believe. So my advice is to not let something restrict you and if you love it, try it out, even if it goes against what your “colors” are. Your closet is beautiful and I love the variety you have in it and the dresses all look great on you. 💞
It is absolutely true that skirts with leggings underneath are warmer for winter than pants and/or pants with leggings underneath. I began wearing skirts and dresses all the time about 2 years ago and will never go back ESP in winter.
Does the skirt fabric make a difference? I live in an extremely cold climate and would like to wear dresses in winter but haven't found a way to do it without freezing my thighs off.
@@kerrydesilets4226 I’ve found so far that it’s more the thickness that matters, but have only thrifted my skirts so am stuck with the material that I’ve found so far. I’d love to find a wool or 100% cotton but so far what I have is working. I live in WI.
@@denisekeller249 I would love a 100% wool skirt, I share your dream lol 95% of my skirts are thin satin and polyester. Pretty decent for breezy summer days but the exact opposite of what I want in a winter skirt.
@@kerrydesilets4226 Lol yes can’t wait to find that awesome find! It’s not super hard to find skirts that are a bit heavier/thicker material and continually surprised how much warmer it is. 😀
I'm 69 years old and I started wearing dresses and skirts mostly at the first of this year. This has to be the Lord for so many women being led in this direction! Wish I would have done this years ago! Thanks for sharing and for being so vulnerable! I pray that more young women will get on board!
Hello Kelli!!! I started wearing only dresses and skirts when i was 12. Until that time i basically wore only shorts and pants. At 12 years old my family started attending a church that taught woman should dress like women and men like men. Deuteronomy 22:5 sayes The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a womans garment, for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God. Wanting to please God i changed my wardrobe. And i love dressing like a woman thats what God created me!!! I can do anything in my dress or skirt that others wearing pants or shorts can do!!! I love your wardrobe you shared with us!!! Im also a thrift shopper!!!! I believe in doing what the bible sayes and pleasing God and my husband!!! I enjoyed your video!!! Take care and God bless!!!! Theres several you tube women i watch that only where dresses and skirts!!! God bless!!!!
Kelli, I found you just today and I can't tell you how happy I am I did. It has to be a God thing. When we get to heaven then I can tell you about my journey to this point. I am 60, so this is a brand new part of this journey, if I can be courageous like you. Your background is the same as mine...sports, and I simply grew up as a Tom boy. Honestly the thought of wearing dresses/skirts really turns me completely off. But God is turning my head in the direction of femininity. Sharing your journey helps me tremendously! Thank you for your ideas. Pockets! I must have pockets!
You are a precious gem Kelli. Your approach to all this is sweet and kind and always encouraging. I think it’s cool that you’ve found such wonderful options by thrifting for them but I have to say the thing that I’m most encouraged by was telling us that you modified a dress into what would work for you. I appreciate that you encourage to wear what is comfortable. Comfort looks and feels different for everyone and it is a process to get there. I can’t imagine that I’d ever be comfortable in the garden wearing a dress my reasons are different than someone else who isn’t comfortable or maybe is. You are a gentle voice in a loud world and this grammy is blessed by you. God Bless you. 🤗
Good quality finds, great fabrics. May I suggest getting a really nice apron to put over your dresses when you are home to protect them. This used to be the norm along with dresses. I have the hardest time finding anything. I do always look at the thrift store.
Thank you! I'm a jeans n blouse girl lately but as a Christian I do want to show my femininity. I think my challenges have been my legs, not wanting them to be exposed, and my feet. I wear inserts and am most comfortable in tennis shoes. I REALLY like the idea of starting with "practice" dresses I feel confident in. Thanks again, I love all your videos!
Yes, just trying different things, as another listener just commented, maybe leggings or tights under dresses my be more comfortable for you. Trying different things and seeing what you like best! God bless you and thank you for your encouragement!
Try wearing a t-shirt dress with bike shorts under and a baseball cap - still very "sporty" but a little way to practice getting used to dresses (that's how I did it)
And collared dresses help too because they feel a little more structured. Megan Fox Unlocked has a bunch of videos on wearing all dresses in a more casual and sporty way (that helped me a lot too)
I hate showing my feet as well! You CAN wear sneakers with skirts/dresses, it’s a very stylish thing nowadays. You can color coordinate them with your outfits. You can wear loafer style shoes as well of even boots in the cooler months.
Now I'm so motivated to go thrifting! I am really interested in finding more natural fiber clothing. Thank you for sharing your closet! I know many of us are thankful you did. Lots of good ideas shared. Something new I'm doing is wearing dresses even when I'm home all day and don't leave the house. Instead of "saving" looking better when I leave the house, I've been wearing dresses every day this week and I feel so joyful and so comfortable.. better than in sweats! Also, since others are sharing their ages - I'm 51, and I love how your videos are timeless, godly content that women of all ages can benefit from. You are our sister in the Lord, Kelli!
I’ve learned to wear an apron over my dresses at home. It has saved my dress from many a spaghetti splatters. I think dresses are so much cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Layers are key. Leggings underneath helps to make me feel so warm and cozy in the winter. I slowly got rid of most of my pants and capris. I saved 2 pair just in case I need them for anything. But they are collecting dust in my closet. 😊 I wish I would have done this years ago.
Just an idea...the little jean button down dress that you said you don't like as well might be cute unbuttoned and worn over something else. Thank you for sharing your dresses and your ideas. God bless.
You are a blessing! 💗 This past year we became members of a local church. Most of the ladies wear dresses to church and most wear them in their daily life. When we began attending, I only had two dresses that were appropriate. It has taken most of this year to discover my style and to gain the confidence to wear dresses almost all the time, even at home. I have kept my fittness clothes, pants and shorts for days at home they would be most practical. These days though, my first choice is to wear a dress. 💗💃🏼💗 Thank you for sharing your journey. 😊
Hi there, I have just come across you and your husbands' videos/podcasts. I am a senior who has been walking with Jesus for 44 years and have always believed in the roles for men and women that God has taught in his word and have studied the word for that long as well. It is amazing to me how I still did not completely grasp how much I was not truly in line with scripture, thinking I was. Main line "churches" just don't teach it. Talking about clothes, it is funny the things you don't even see until you are convicted by the Lord for your own walk. I thought I would see how many women I saw in town today with dresses on. A big fat zero, everyone looked exactly the same, and it wasn't a pretty sight to be honest. Even the men don't dress nicely. Now that would be a good subject for your husband to address as well. Thank you for your very inspiring and motivating videos.
Except that those roles are not what Jesus taught. Paul's teachings must always go back to a teaching of Christ, or it's just a situation that Paul was encountering at that time. The Ephesian verses are just a way to follow Christ's command to love one another, done with aspects of femininity and masculinity. There is no hierarchy, no who is the boss, just a way to love one another.
I've been wearing dresses & skirts for about 7 years now, it was a slow process of moving out of androgynous items (jeans, tshirts, professional attire that imitated masculine styles) and body-conscious clothes (skin tight stuff: skinny jeans, leggings, jeggings, etc) and into more feminine items. It was an unconscious move, really. Thrifting, natural fabrics, sleeves, pockets, and skin coverage; and hats, (and veiling in church!) - that was/is my new goal. I did put on a pair of jeans the other day, and it felt so uncomfortable, tight, & constricting! I would never have thought I would EVER go in this direction. . . .
Another nice side-effect of dressing femininely is that my adult daughter now wears feminine clothes (and found a husband who prefers that!) AND my sons prefer that, too! 😊
I love long flowing skirts and the ones just below the knees with boots in the winter time. I just think it looks so cute. I have a few linen dresses, but they are mostly see threw and I have been trying to figure out the layering for this reason. I have also been looking for a wool dress or skirt, but have not been able to find anything yet. Like you, I shop at thrift stores and am on a journey to wear only wool and linen. Thanks for sharing, you gave me quite a few ideas from your wardrobe.
I used to feel SO uncomfortable in dresses and mostly just wore jeans. Over the past three years, especially with turning 30, I’ve completely changed my wardrobe. I still have my jeans but now feel most confident in dresses. So funny how things change. And yes, leggings with skirts are the best.
Ever since I was little, I’ve LOVED dresses! I refused to wear pants up until 2nd grade. I always wanted skirts or dresses on because they were practically the most comfortable to me as a little girl. I always loved “spinny” dresses as I liked to call them lol. I ended up getting into the not so modest / androgynous wardrobe as I got older. I thought it was cool to dress like a guy sometimes or that I would “fit in.” BUT I was convicted by another Christian woman when I was in high school to strictly wear modest dresses. I ended up slowly changing my wardrobe to dresses. Although, now, I don’t think I have to STRICTLY wear dresses, but it is definitely most preferred for me :) I am thankful to feel free to wear dresses again, which honestly, it’s what I wanted the whole time, I just didn’t know it. Thank you for sharing your wardrobe! SO cute! Love it
Hey Laura, this is such a great testimony! And the example of another Christian woman in your life that lead by example, that is amazing! And you're exactly right the blessing of feeling free to wear dresses- that is key!
Thank you. I have been struggling with WAY to many clothes but not anything that I feel good wearing. Not flashy or too manly, but not the womanly way God intended. I feel a weight lifted and cant wait to put together a better wardrobe.
I wear business casual dresses every day. What I mean by business casual is they can be dressed up or down such as T shirt dresses with a nice neckline. They’re perfect for Arizona weather and if I need to in the winter I can throw on a cardigan but it is almost never needed!
I only wear skirts and dresses all the year round, I do wear thermal tights or leggings under them in the winter for warmth, I don't wear anything tight fitting or shorter than my knees as they make me uncomfortable, I love my feminine style, one of my favourite RUclipsrs is inspired by Nikki she is my favourite for all things feminine
Love your video and your wardrobe. I too this past spring began only wearing skirts and dresses and I LOVE IT, I can't go back to wearing pants or shorts the couple of times that I had to I really didn't like how I was feeling I no longer felt like myself or feminine, when I came home the first thing I did was take off my pants and put on my dress, even both my girls when they saw me in pants they said I no longer looked like their mom, they told me to put my dress back on because you look prettier, WOW, that coming from my kids them noticing how we as women look prettier in dresses says a lot, God created us as women beautifully so it's important to underline our beauty and femininity. Good for you for wearing dresses and skirts, you too look beautiful.
Your red skirt was my favorite on you. You are a beauty, inside and out. You might watch a few Well Loved videos. She gets very creative with her outfits, but her videos are fun to watch and we can learn some great tips from her. Just tweek it to your own style. She gets you thinking outside of the box.
I don't know where you live but here in PA, I am by the capital, Thrift stores are outrageous with their prices. You can get stuff on sale or clearance cheaper than the Good Will wants for their clothes. I never really like to dress up but I just bought a Jean skirt to wear on weekends. I really appreciate you channel Kelli.
Ah that's challenging. I don't shop at Goodwill for values reasons, I wonder if just outside the city if their are any local Catholic Thrift shops? I've noticed that in all the places we've lived they are the best option to search out because usually they have volunteers, so their prices are reasonable and usually have good quality options.
You are not wrong! My family traveled to Dayton, OH to visit a St. Vincent de Paul, a Valley Thrift Store, and a Village Discount Thrift Store this past Wednesday. The only store that had decent prices was the St. Vincent de Paul! The other two were selling blouses for $12.99-$17.99! It was ridiculous! At least I found several blouses at the St. Vincent de Paul for decent prices, but I literally could not be bothered looking through the clothing racks at the other two as soon as I saw how expensive they were! I am finally discarding my androgynous clothes (T-shirts with worldly logos, sweatpants, sweatshirts, etc.) because the Lord laid it on my heart that, as a Christian, I should dress according to His Word. Unfortunately, with the pandemic and crashing economy, more people are shopping at thrift stores than ever, and people who can afford higher prices set the prices against those who truly need thrift stores due to poverty. In addition, many people are buying certain brands of clothes at thrift stores and selling them online at a much higher price. This trend also affects the needy, including myself. I recently became disabled from the waist down, so buying modest clothes for cheap right now is a must. Can’t really do that when thrift stores want almost $20 for a single blouse!
When you held up the “dress turned to a skirt by fitting the top off” I thought it really complimented your eyes, maybe pair with a green top of some kind? Thank you very much…I’m trying to figure this out now. I have some skirts I love but are packed away as in the process of moving and the ones I have unpacked are just okay. I think I need to try the thrift stores before another lockdown.
I switched to skirts and dresses when I retired. Like you I was a shorts and t-shirt girl, not because I was sporty but I live in Florida and I wanted to be cool and comfortable. After switching to dresses I found out that they are much cooler than shorts and a t-shirt. I hope more women and girls go back to dressing feminine. I feel more confident when I feel famine..
Hi Kelli... If you want, you can make a lined lace or solid color fabric insert for the dress with the cutout in the back. Easy peasy modest design feature 😉
I am reluctant to wear dresses since I have a tiny problem with my calves (archilles tendonitis). Sometimes they swell and I don't feel very pretty. But when I do wear dresses, my husband loves it regardless. I would like to have different colors of leggings to wear under dresses, in beautiful soft fabric to make you feel better and give more support. I have one black pair that has elastic black lace at the bottom - which is a great idea and looks pretty! Also bicycle pants under dresses, I hear is comfortable. I'm too am on a journey. Thank you Kelli for sharing and God bless! I like the idea of wearing soft, pretty slips as well like on "Inspired by Nikki".
How fun was this video - thank you so much for all the work it took to put it together, Kelli!! Seeing the outfits on you in the top left corner was the best! I just love your wardrobe and your courage and vulnerability in sharing this! The way you pair different things was really inspiring and all looked so beautiful on you - every piece, truly! Thank you again for putting this video together - it seemed like a lot of work. But it was indeed a blessing and encouragement to me! Sending much love to you, my beautiful sister in Christ! ❤
You are so sweet Kelli ! Thanks so much for this video (and others!). I enjoyed it a lot. The video was so well done, I am glad you chose to try on the clothes you were showing, I believe that's what made this video so good. Good job. If you didn't end up making a fall version of this video last year then can you please make it this fall if possible?
I love your dresses. I have maybe 4 or 5 dresses but I have lots of skirts. I feel more comfortable in skirts since I'm not really comfortable in dresses with my weight. Keep going on your journey and don't get discouraged by anyone's opinions. Much love and prayers 🙏 ❤ 😊
My daughters, (twins, 38) and I are now working toward wearing more feminine. It's so easy to get into a comfortable grunge mode of dress, especially when you are raising children but since both of them have daughters of their own, they are making the extra effort to show a good example. I was just going for comfort and not really paying attention to my appearance for many reasons. So glad to be able to go this journey with my girls.
Your outfits are beautiful and God bless you for growing in His Way! You mentioned see thru dresses... You can buy a full slip or make a simple slip very easily😊
Pockets for the win. I get excited when I find dresses with pocket. You have a nice closet of dresses and I’m only a few minutes in. I’m black so I tend to prefer brighter colours those complement me I love pastels too. I don’t like flowery dresses. I can do mix clots but flowery pattern not my favourite but I find other woman look great in them.
Love the side by examples of the outfits . Very cute. I enjoy wearing dresses & skirts , but I farm full time so sometimes jeans are just what I have to wear. I did try wearing skirts but fell a couple times 😂
I’ve worn dresses most of my life because I get overwhelmed trying to match this top with those pants or trying to match the colours of all the separate pieces. If I grab a dress it covers my whole body and I don’t have to think about what goes with what.
Ignore the people trying to take away from your beautiful message of teaching us how to love skirts and dresses. They’re projecting their own insecurities. They are just jealous & intimated by you ❤
Thank you for sharing your wardrobe. I tried wearing more dresses and skirts this summer, I made a few purchases that I was just not comfortable in at all, and recently found a few that I love. I am curious to see if I can wear skirts and dresses in the winter, I guess with a sweater and leggings, I would be warm enough. I'll have to look for some new pieces that will work for fall and winter! I'd love to see how you wear skirts and dresses in colder weather for more inspiration for the colder months ahead! Thanks!
Thank you very much for sharing this video. I am also exploring my style. You gave me great ways to wear my dresses. God bless you ! I also want to start wearing more dresses because God as put it on my heart to do so for the past year. Very grateful for your channel.😊❤
I grew up wearing dresses every day. To wear dresses in the winter I love to wear knit cardigans or turtlenecks over top and add boots and leggings to.
Beautiful! Im all up for being more feminine which of course starts from within but the clothes are a reflection of personality Im a fashion designer and I always criticise big brands because they want women to look like men, and we are not!! Our bodies need different shapes and also we need to highlight our natural curves not try to disguise them in boxy clothes , also baggy clothes are easy to mass produce so fashion is very generic for that reason I have learned about Kibbe type and Im a soft dramatic so lots of flowy feminine fabrics and shapes Lots of wrap dresses also which are very feminine and practical My challenge is the weather because I live in Scottish so what you show as fall outfits for example, that’s our summer 😢 Your videos inspired me to continue looking for more ways to wear dresses but always with warm leggings and long sleeve tops Just ordered a demin shirt dress from a secret hand online site, since trying to reuse clothing is my thing Finally, like others mentioned in other of your videos, I usually get lots of compliments if wearing dresses I think men also appreciate that we are different and we enjoy those differences
New Dress wearer hack: bike shorts. You put them under the dress to help with comfort. You can also use leggings (I like to do this when it’s cold.) When you feel more comfortable you can do without. 💖
Love love love the layers you use with the dresses and skirts! Total game changer to mix up looks, dressing up or down or covering up small straps, open back etc! Brilliant! Love the crop tie shirt idea. You look absolutely lovely in them. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤍
Dresses are also much more comfortable 💯 I like jeans and shirts, but as women they don't allow our body to breathe properly or can be constricting. Great video and love your helpful advice! ❤🙏
So fun! I agree, tights or leggings w a dress, and maybe a sweeter over is wonderful in the winter. I live in the rocky mountains so it's very cold here at times, and I love a wool skirt worn this way. I am cleaning ideas as I watch. I own a dress that I don't like the sleeves on and it's a very busy print. Love your idea of turning a dress into a skirt. I'm inspired. Thank you!
Hi Kelli, Thank you for providing such an inspiring source for those looking to break away from the current trends! I have a question about a previous video, but can’t recall which one. In a previous video, you mentioned a vintage German shop that sold vintage German folk dresses. I think it was in Indiana, but not sure. I am planning a road trip to Indiana with my mom soon, and was hoping it would be in that area. Can you share the name of the store? Thank you again for all the wisdom that you share!
Thank you for sharing! You look great in the blue layered look, quite noble-looking. I'm also thankful to have intentionally practised wearing more dresses and skirts this year. Maybe cycling through the same 4 pieces of clothing for almost a year isn't so exciting for others to look at, but I don't mind haha
Thank you so much Christine! Haha and yes that is a great point with cycling through the same 4 pieces of clothing- I do think that is a way of simplifying one area of life!
Layering tops over your dresses to change up the look is such a good idea. Great fall inspo! I think a cream or beige color shirt could work well with your red button down skirt. That skirt is a very good color for you as a summer skin tone.
Thank you Kelli for the video. I really enjoyed watching the way you put together the dresses and skirts to dress them up or down. It has given me lots of new ideas. The burnt orange/red buttoned down skirt was my favourite, I guess because Autumn tones are my colour. Thank you and Be Blessed. 😊
Love this video! I’m in the same place as you on this journey. Almost to where I am more comfortable in skirts and dresses than pants! Still have my jeans for barrel racing and farm work, haven’t figured a way around that yet🤣
I'm trying hard to get out of wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and purposefully dressing more femininely for my husband and my children. I too buy the majority of my clothes at thrift stores (intentionally buying natural materials), but it's tricky to make a complete outfit when you're trying to mix and match from the things you find. I have so many random nice pieces that I don't know what to pair with! I need a personal stylist to help me, haha! Thanks so much for sharing your outfit ideas with us. You've inspired me to go look in my closet again to see what combinations I can come up with!
Thank you for sharing! ❤ You have an amazing collection of dresses and skirts. And they look so beautiful. I’m finding that it’s hard for me to find dresses and skirts. But you’ve given me a lot of good ideas I can use to look at the things I have to wear a new way. I’m now on the hunt for slips and footless hosiery.
Came across your channel yesterday and have been going through your old videos. Wanted to thank you for your videos. Your home economy ones have really helped me look at my being a homemaker in a totally different light and am embracing it whole heartily. This particular video caught my eye tonight as I too decided to switch from wearing jeans and shorts to dresses and skirts. I made the decision last summer and haven't regreted it at all. Love wearing them SO much more than jeans! In fact the only pants I now own are sweatpants that I use when I have some heavy duty cleaning to do or it's really cold out - live in Saskatchewan, Canada and winters can be brutal for temperatures! I am still finding my style when it comes to dresses and skirts, but one thing all of them have to have are pockets. If it doesn't have a pocket I don't get it. Although if I find something I really love I am going to take it to a seamstress to get pockets added - don't have the confidence yet to make them myself 😊 When you mentioned that you wear something like biker shorts under your see through dresses or skirts I just had to comment and tell you about a product I found that I absolutely love. They're thin shorts, more like underwear, but very lightweight made by a company called Thigh Society. Highly recommend them. Am not affiliated with them at all. Just a very satisfied customer. I deal with an excessive condition, which is one of the reasons I always would shy away from dresses and skirts. These thigh underwear make wearing dresses and skirts enjoyable. The one I have is called The Cooler. Not once have I left a mark on a seat since wearing them where it looked like I had an accident 😊 which unfortunately would happen often with jeans and shorts. They're also great for thigh chafing - doesn't happen with these at all even in 90+ temperatures.
Thank you so much for this kind comment! So encouraging. And thank you for you tip with the Thigh Society! That sounds amazing and so helpful! God bless you!
I found an organic cotton dress from a company called Pact on Poshmark. I am going to switch the shoulder straps around so that they unbutton in the front instead of the back for breastfeeding. It was BOGO, so I also got a wool skirt that I am going to try to make into a maternity skirt by adding a maternity panel to the front.
Im thankful for your perspective, since I’m also athletic (I’m a runner). I’m encouraged to know it was a process for you and that we can go from discomfort to comfort. Thank you for sharing!
Wonderful as always Kelli! I would love an update if you keep wearing dresses in the winter! That is always my fatal flaw- I start wearing jeans in the winter, haha.
Thank you Abigail! I will definitely do a winter update on how it's going! Last year, I definitely resorted to jeans, but I want to give it more of a go this year!
A long time ago I had a season of only skirts and dresses and that season did include some winter weather. Leggings or tights under two or even three layers of long skirts was pretty warm. Pre-1900s women kept warm with layers and thick petticoats.
I was thinking of capri length leggings, myself to wear under "midi" length skirts and dresses this winter! Winter dress wearing makes me nervous b/c I don't like to be cold, but maybe layering will work!
I have a problem with winter coats and dresses and what shoes to wear mid season. I live in UK with wet winters and muddy lanes! But I need to dress well for volunteering at the little village school.
Thank you. My job has refused to accomodate option for skirts/dresses as part of the uniform wear. The pants really feel uncomfortable because they do not fit right and have absolutely zero proper circulation around my feminine area. I may just go the job accommodation route, though it takes forever 😢
Nice outfits I Like them all and yes a dress with pockets a real bonus I Love thrifting dresses and skirts Many good bargains to be found I Love being feminine wearing a dress or skirt everyday especially to work I Love my formal office wear long pencil skirt suits and fitted dresses so comfortable Feels so nice zipped up in a dress
I’m enjoying your videos, thanks! I have a similar background and am struggling feeling and dressing feminine. My weight is at my highest and that doesn’t help. I want to wear more dresses and be comfortable, but what shoes do you wear? Id like to find a comfortable bootie for the winter that has a low heel and can wear everyday.
I was raised wearing dresses, mostly. My parents were really old fashioned & my mother had a really poverty stricken childhood & I think she projected on her 3 girls a bit - to be 'dressy', because she had such limited amounts of clothing. But by the time I got to high school, the Grunge Era was going strong & I got picked on A LOT for wearing dresses. It didn't help that we also were quite poor & often the clothes I had were hand me downs, garage sale finds, etc...and NOT fashionable. They tended to be clothes of an older era. I was teased mercilessly. So I had a real aversion to dresses for awhile. But now I find Jeans so unbearable after having 2 c sections, that I mostly wear dresses/skirts. The great thing is that I am in charge of my clothing spending now. I actually get lots of compliments & get taken much more seriously. I still wear jeans from time to time (like when we ride our Harley Davidson) or capris, but I absolutely draw the line at shorts. I wear special shorts for under skirts that are breathable mesh fabric with some stretchy lace to keep the leg part in place. in the winter I wear leggings under skirts. I usually try to buy very plain colored dresses & then layer fancier sweaters or colorful shirts - for winter/fall. In summer I buy very colorful & patterned dresses & plain, interchangeable light cardigans. And always the denim skirt! fall/winter/spring/summer - you can make them work with all sorts of add ons & a cute pair of cowboy boots LOL. And I wear dresses while raising broilers, hogs, gardening, cleaning, etc...I protect them by aprons. My husband absolutely won't tolerate me wearing leggings or revealing things out in public (which I would never feel comfortable doing anyway) & he does not appreciate a woman staying in pjs or sweats all day. And I find that fine, because my husband is no slob. He wears a uniform to work everyday, never wears sweats, shorts, or pjs all day. when we go out he puts effort into his 'look'; western style shirts, nice watch, dressy jeans & cowboy boots.
I have a hard time walking due to a muscle disorder. Flip-flops are out tennis shoes are in and they have to be the right type so I find a lot of times I don’t wear my dresses.
This was so helpful to me. I just found your channel and I've been trying for awhile now to get into wearing skirts/dresses more. All your ideas are really good. Please pray for me to know how i can talk to my daughter about dressing in a more feminine way. Sometimes it seems like she rejects anything having to do with femininity.
This makes my heart so glad to hear!! Thank you for sharing this =)
I wore a pretty flower dress to the chiropractor and a man came out to the waiting room and he got all excited and said I looked like spring time! Men really like seeing a girl all dressed up!
@@cynthianussbaum3623 ❤️❤️❤️
I’m sewing myself a whole new wardrobe of dresses and skirts 💕💕 . From the most simple to the fanciest
That is amazing!!
I have such a hard time finding patterns that work for me. Could you please share what you are doing?
@@loves2spin2 I do my own patterns , I have studied fashion design. I’d advice to you to invest in pattern making books, follow the instructions to have a basic block to your size , and learn to transform , so many videos on RUclips could be helpful
Oh that’s cool!!
So well said. I am in 40's and feel puzzled why young women today reject to wear feminine clothes. You explained so well!
Thanks for the book recommendation I will try and order it.
Thank you for your encouragement! God bless you and your journey with this!
I am 53 and working on this journey too. It started about 5 years ago when I felt like I wasn't honoring God in my clothing. I also started building my wardrobe through thrifting. I can tell how it affects my mood and the way I carry myself as a women. Great inspiration through this video. Thank you!
Yes, such a great testimony- it really does affect my mood too, by the way I dress! Thank you for your encouragement!
I'm excited to try this out, thank you Denise!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and for sharing your testimony with this!
Thank you so much Cheryl! And for always being so encouraging!
Good quality finds, great fabrics. May I suggest getting a really nice apron to put over your dresses when you are home to protect them. This used to be the norm along with dresses. I have the hardest time finding anything. I do always look at the thrift store.
I appreciate all y’all put on here! 95% of my closet is thrifted, such helpful tips and thank you for sharing :)
Megan Fox Unlocked has a bunch of videos on wearing all dresses in a more casual and sporty way (that helped me a lot too)
There is a super cute look of white tennis shoes with skirts and dresses. That has really helped me!
Thank you so much Beverly! I alway appreciate your stories and commentary!! So encouraging =)
I wish I would have done this years ago.
Thank you for sharing your journey. 😊
This is such a great testimony! Thank you so much for sharing your story, it is encouraging =) God bless you!
Thank you for sharing your closet with us!! The layering tops over dresses is a great idea. Can’t wait to try it!
You're welcome, Clara! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yes, I love that idea and have been experimenting this fall with tops over dresses and really like it!
What a beautiful testimony, praise God!
I'm so glad! And yes, I've had a hard time finding just wool skirts- the ones I've come across are a blend of mostly polyester with like 20-30% wool.
Yayy, I'm so glad to hear this! God bless you!
I wear business casual dresses every day. What I mean by business casual is they can be dressed up or down such as T shirt dresses with a nice neckline. They’re perfect for Arizona weather and if I need to in the winter I can throw on a cardigan but it is almost never needed!
Great testimony! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you so much for the suggestion! God bless you!
Love your wardrobe ❤️ You go girl!
That is such a great idea with the lace! and would flatter that dress so well, thank you!!
I loved all your dresses and skirts and how you pair them with different tops to make them look different.
Thank you so very much for noticing- seriously, your comment was so kind and thoughtful! I always appreciate your encouragement!
Thank you so much, Tracie, for your encouragement! God bless you!
Thank you so much, Kate! And that is a great idea, I will be on the lookout for one!
Love dresses and skirts and wear them to church.
Yes!! And when travelling, dresses are just so easy to combine and transport
No thinking needed
Cord skirts are good for winter
Thanks for sharing Kelli. You have a beautiful wardrobe and you look lovely in the outfits. ☺
Thank you so much for your always kind comments =) Hope you have a great weekend!
I appreciate you trying all these on! I know how long that takes to not only try on but then to edit all those clips in. But it was helpful to see!
Haha, yes, you know! Thank you, I'm glad it was a blessing!
Thank you! I was looking forward to this!
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your story with this too! Its so encouraging to hear other's journeys! And yes, I will do a winter update and see how it goes!!
To wear dresses in the winter I love to wear knit cardigans or turtlenecks over top and add boots and leggings to.
so many clothes you covered in a single video , thank u 🌟
Beautiful!
Im all up for being more feminine which of course starts from within but the clothes are a reflection of personality
Im a fashion designer and I always criticise big brands because they want women to look like men, and we are not!!
Our bodies need different shapes and also we need to highlight our natural curves not try to disguise them in boxy clothes , also baggy clothes are easy to mass produce so fashion is very generic for that reason
I have learned about Kibbe type and Im a soft dramatic so lots of flowy feminine fabrics and shapes
Lots of wrap dresses also which are very feminine and practical
My challenge is the weather because I live in Scottish so what you show as fall outfits for example, that’s our summer 😢
Your videos inspired me to continue looking for more ways to wear dresses but always with warm leggings and long sleeve tops
Just ordered a demin shirt dress from a secret hand online site, since trying to reuse clothing is my thing
Finally, like others mentioned in other of your videos, I usually get lots of compliments if wearing dresses
I think men also appreciate that we are different and we enjoy those differences

You put them under the dress to help with comfort. You can also use leggings (I like to do this when it’s cold.) When you feel more comfortable you can do without. 💖
I wear dresses and skirts AND pants and pretty tops. I am also dedicated thrift shopper.
Great idea with the shirts over dresses for cooler weather.
I love this! Thank you for sharing your wardrobe!
Thank you for your encouragement!
Thank you!
Ah yayy, I'm so glad it was helpful! I'm getting ready to do that to another dress I found from the thrift store that didn't fit me at the shoulders!
@@homewithkelli it's a great idea. I'm so happy with my new skirt!
I love this! I am feeling like God is showing more ways to be feminine. I never consider my clothes, but I am now.
Hi Kelli,
Thank you for providing such an inspiring source for those looking to break away from the current trends!
I'm so glad! Thank you so much for the encouragement, Sharyn!
I am learning as well :) But I will probably keep some jeans and shorts like you did.
Love this video! I’m in the same place as you on this journey. Almost to where I am more comfortable in skirts and dresses than pants! Still have my jeans for barrel racing and farm work, haven’t figured a way around that yet🤣
Haha yes, I get it! In those moments skirts or dresses may not be the most comfortable to work in!
I loved watching this Kelli. Thanks for putting it together ❤️
For me it was switching from short skirts and buying long skirts…. Took me a year to submit to that idea 😂 but I have 3 maxi dresses now woo hoo
I am trying to wear more dresses too! I love these dresses on you!
Yess, I'm also on the hunt for slips! And I'm thankful this was helpful!
Thank you for sharing your wardrobe!! Everything is very beautiful ❤
Although if I find something I really love I am going to take it to a seamstress to get pockets added - don't have the confidence yet to make them myself 😊
When you mentioned that you wear something like biker shorts under your see through dresses or skirts I just had to comment and tell you about a product I found that I absolutely love.
I love Skirts & Dresses, I don’t use pants at all nor shorts, I respect the ones that does. HONESTLY DRESSES LOOK SO MUCH BEAUTIFUL THAN PANTS.
Thank you Kelli for sharing your wardrobe😊
You're so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@homewithkelli I enjoyed
I found an organic cotton dress from a company called Pact on Poshmark. I am going to switch the shoulder straps around so that they unbutton in the front instead of the back for breastfeeding. It was BOGO, so I also got a wool skirt that I am going to try to make into a maternity skirt by adding a maternity panel to the front.
Im thankful for your perspective, since I’m also athletic (I’m a runner). I’m encouraged to know it was a process for you and that we can go from discomfort to comfort. Thank you for sharing!
Yess, and sometimes it still is a process when I go back to places where I was known as someone who wore shorts and tshirts all the time.
You can probably wear black, footless, opaque tights with the shorter ones in the fall and winter. Then add boots or tennies, or flats 👍🏼😎
That is a great idea! Thank you!!
I was thinking of capri length leggings, myself to wear under "midi" length skirts and dresses this winter! Winter dress wearing makes me nervous b/c I don't like to be cold, but maybe layering will work!
Thank you so much, Kelly! This was so fun! I need help shopping, especially at Thrift stores I don’t often know what really looks good on me.
I have a problem with winter coats and dresses and what shoes to wear mid season. I live in UK with wet winters and muddy lanes! But I need to dress well for volunteering at the little village school.
Love this topic!!!
I'm so glad, thanks Amanda! God bless you!
Amen, thank you for sharing your story with this! God bless you!
Girl! You are so pretty! What an inspiring video :)
I'm so glad you liked it and thank you =)
I have a hard time walking due to a muscle disorder. Flip-flops are out tennis shoes are in and they have to be the right type so I find a lot of times I don’t wear my dresses.
Another way to jazz up a dress and create a newish outfit is to add a scarf. I have like a million scarves. Lol.
That's a great suggestion, thank you!
The slip dress looks simple to sew, but all the piping adds some complexity.
Yes, I'd skip that part and do full straps =)
What brand is the light red linen skirt? Love it so much! Very enjoyable video!
