Thank you. Picked one of these up today at a garage sale for 10 shmeckles after never having a capable camera before and knowing nothing about them, this has helped me so much.
Picked up a 1000f body for £7 delivered as i was looking for something more manual than the 750. Looking forward to trying it out but curious about the ISO feature that wasn’t really explained. Can the ISO setting be overridden across all exposure modes?
Hello thekylehampton, thanks for the comment. The 650 is great camera and very much of the 80's style wise, which was the best decade of course. Did you get one with the GR20 grip (that has the remote release 60T3) socket? The 1000 is perfectly capable but just seems a little compromised by the way it selects various options for you, on the other hand they do come up for sale at a very keen prices!
Hi! First of all thank you so much for posting a video like this, it helped me a lot to understand my camera. So my question is how do the pop-up flash works? I've been using this camera for a month and still can't find an answer. I tried Manual Mode, Av, Tv and every mode and only in Portrait mode the flash pops-up and not always.
At 17:00 , when you loaded the film, it’s odd that it only gave you 23 exposures. Normally it should pre-wind to 25, and then snap one photo to leave you with 24 possible exposures. Have you tried other film cassettes?
Hello Mike, Thank you for your comment. I have a couple of films I use to test/demo cameras and over time the leaders get damaged especially the sprocket holes so I have to cut a new leader making the film shorter than standard. Good observation however! All the best MVC
Hello, In Manual you get Ai focus, effectively continuous. Continuous winding and centre weighted average metering. There is no way to change this combination of settings! Kind regards MVC
Just got this for £10 plus the Lens. Kind of funny how the plastic Olympus MJU2 is as expensive as Canon P but these ones are as much as a roll of film!?
Thank you BadMouse for your comment. I agree it's odd how some cameras become must haves and get crazy prices and others are overlooked. I have a Contax T2 when they were new but I wouldn't pay the going rate for a used one today!
Thanks for the video. Got one for tenner in a car boot sale. Got the film and battery today will load film tomorrow and try out. My 1st film camera. What is your favourite film camera?
Hello Luke Murphy, Thank you for your comment. £10 seems a fair price and it's certainly able to produce images as good as any, hope you enjoy it. Favourite Film Camera? Hard to say. I think the EOS 600/620.630/650 have to be in the running as they span the gap between the height of film cameras but before digital was a thing. I've always had a spot spot for the Pentax LX however, that's a very solid camera that didn't get the recognition it deserved. All the best MVC
Hello Farhana, Thank you for your comment. You need a 2CR5 widely available from camera stores and of course Amazon and eBay. I hope you enjoy using your Dad's former camera.
Hello. I was wondering why sometimes when using flash it mainly captures the background and the person I want in focus is not. Also was wondering how I capture moving objects and how to take still photos instead of the camera having really slow shutter speed ( I have only been using the green mode and am trying to get better )
Hello Billy, THank you for your comments. The flash system is intended to be a fill flash rather than primary illumination. If you find the near subject is blown out you can set a fill ratio by basically setting -1 or 2 stops flash exposure compensation, depending on flash gun used. For sports you could either move from green to the the sport mode (running man) or go to Tv (time value, what used to be called shutter priority). In Sports mode is still automatic. In Tv you can set a faster shutter speed and the camera will chnage the apature acordingly but beware of setting too high a shutter speed for the light level and ISO, if the camera gets to the brightest apature and it's still underexposing you will get an underexposure alert, usually a flashing apature value in the viewfinder and LCD. One more thing you could use is program shift. Set the dial to P and use the control dial by the shutter to change the values in the LCD. Obviously you will be aiming for a higher shutter speed. In all cases you may want to use a 400 ISO or more film. Kind regards MVC
Hey! Super random question but the mirror within my camera seems to remain at the top after taking a photo, and does latch back down, is there anyway to fix this?
Heuelle Quintero, Thank you for your comment. when the mirror flips up it touches the top of the camera throat, where the focusing screen is. There is a thin piece of foam on the leading edge of the focus screen surround. With age this can perish and become sticky. My best guess sight unseen is the mirror is sticking to the perished strip of foam. Really you need to replace that foam, you can buy steps of light leak foam on ebay, but if you are super carful you might be able to cover the old foam for now with a bit of tape. At your own risk of course! All the best MVC
Hello DJ Breadcrumb, thank you for your comments. The cheapest zoom would likely be the 28-80mm Canon "kit" lens, but it's not the sharpest. The original 35-70mm EF is great but of course a limited range, If you mean telephoto then one of the 70-300mm or 75-300mm zooms could be found for a fairly small amount. All the best MVC
@@mostlyvintagecameras4323 thanku so much I’ll make my decision soon, was also wondering if there was a specific way to make film look all grainy and classically crackly like you see in old vintage photos is there a way to do this?
@@djbreadcrumb7679 Hello, The old grainy press photo/gig pics were most likely shot on Kodak Tri-X, a 400ASA B+W film. You can further enhance the grimy feel by exposing at 800ASA and push processing it. This can be done commercially but will add cost. All the best MVC
Hello Alexander, Thank you for your question. Modern lenses don't generally work on old cameras and also the other way around. That being said there is no harm in trying it as there are always exceptions. Kind regards MVC
Hello Jalna, thank you for your comment, it's a good question. In simple term, no, not directly from the camera to a computer. That being said many companies that develop film will develop the negatives and then scan them to make a digital file. You can also scan the negs yourself with varying degrees of complexity and cost. You could try starting with a bright light under a white Perspex sheet and simply snapping them with your 'phone. I haven't made a video of this as there are already quite a few good ones on YT, just search for "scanning you negatives with your phone".

i was sure there is a feature where putting the comand dial in iso pressing both back buttons simultaneously allows early film rewind
Yes, you are correct. I realised my error just after I made the video and so added a correction I to the description.
thanks for the video!
