- In this week's Film Photography Friday I review and chat about Jess' experience shooting the Canon 1000F/1000FN/ Rebel S with Kodak Gold 200 film. The Canon 1000F is a very versatile 35mm autofocus film SLR that works with all the modern EOS lenses. If you're lucky you can get these at a great price with a great lens that will work on your modern Canon DSLR.

My dad handed this camera down to me, my childhood was also shot on this camera! I never hear anybody talk about this camera and I'm so glad someone else out there has such an attachment to it. It's a great one :)
Yeah they truly are a great camera and one of the biggest reasons why I got into film photography
Me too. I'm 21 now,the camera is as old me. My old childhood pictures were shot in this camera 😊. Now I'm gonna repair and use it ☺️
I have just found an eos 1000 in my grandparents house , what a beautiful camera!
What beautiful grandparents
unbelievable, me too 😮 what a coincidence!
Great video, very balanced review. I've just bought a Canon 1000F and I'm excited to shoot some Kodak Gold/Portra on it
Great results coming to you
Great photos Aaron!
These are so underrated. I bought one for $12 + shipping on etsy. No lens, but I had an M42 adapter and a couple of EF lenses already. Highly reccommend this over any point and shoot. Even allows for easy multiple exposures. I will say the only drawback is that M42 adapters are tricky with this model. You either have to go very expensive and get one that works with early EF models (the mirror gets in the way) or be like me and just unscrew the adapter (not the lens!) and it should work fine. Still focuses correctly and everything., it's just a bit finnicky with lenses that maybe don't have the easiest to handle focus adjustment.
Overall very much underrated and great camera for anyone looking for a cheap, dependable camera.
My mum recently handed me this camera, I've been using a konica autoreflexTC without the battery before this. and the half/digital half analog is fucking amazing. my first camera was the 1000D I've been using it since (2014) and my "newest" is the R8, definitely turning into a canon girl...
Those 90's Canon SLR bodies are amazing value for money these days. I have several ones in various sizes myself. Really nice to be able to use all my EF glass on film bodies, and they're all equipped with great light meters and good auto focus.
Also, I think the built in flash tech was better in the 90's than now days :-) The flash on my EOS 5 is just awesome.
Thanks they certainly are some of the best due to still being able to get and use the lenses. I'm definitely with you on the flashes, they're miles better!
I think the Minolta 90s film SLRs are the biggest bargain, it's just a pity there are no popular cameras that natively use that lens mount anymore (Sony A mount) . These cameras are full of cool tech and were miles ahead of the game at the time
Yeah, the Minoltas are great! Shame they aren't around anymore, they definitely had a lot of cool stuff going on in the 90's. Totally agree on the lenses, they always work really well for adapting to mirrorless bodies and that sort of thing. Very good optics! And the auto focus wasn't that bad either. Konica and Minolta are definitely overdue for a comeback :-)
Yeah they're definitely due a comeback, Yashica is making another go at making film cameras after the fail of their digifilm crap
Yeah, I saw that. Don't have high hopes after the disaster last time around, but it would be a nice surprise if they came up with something good! Yashica made some killer rangefinders and compacts back in the day. Great lenses too.
Some of my favourite cameras are Yashicas, the digifilm camera was the worst thing I've ever shot with. It was so bad that I didn't even want to do a video on it
Excellent, great results from a class early camera. Just got one from a friend, awaiting a battery and will be taking it for a spin soon.
Got one with a data back coming. Can't wait. Thanks for putting this together, really good.
You can fit The focusing screen from a EOS 100 and 10 film camera if yours is scratched
The tones are amazing!!
Thank you very much!
I just got one for $40 aud and I’m so keen
congrats!
DEP mode sounds really useful. Do you think it could be used for landscape photography as well, taking into account hyperfocal distance.
1 AF point is enough for any camera
The FN has a quite winder a music tone and a 2000 sec top shutter speed
Spot metering aint bad
True that!
Music mode is so fun
Hi ! How do you do to send the photos or videos from Canon eos to your computer please ?
Looove me some Kodak Gold. Also pleasantly surprised to see the new video same-day I subscribed. Cheers!
Yeah it's my most used film stocks alongside pro image 100. Thanks for subscribing, welcome to the family 🙌
Hello, could you write the lens's name and how can i find could leave in there a link?.
Is it possible to use new lenses like a Canon 50 f1. 2 L?
what is the lens you use?!? I just fell in love with this camera went to a thrift store got it for $5!
On the Canon I used a 50mm f1.8
@@AaronFleming Thank you for replying hope you have a good friday!
No problem and thank you very much! Just setting up the channel again as I’ll be returning to creating regular videos soon
Hey. Thanks for your very interesting video. I had fun with this camera, but it just stopped working. It doesn't turn on anymore. Would you have any tips on getting it to work again? (I bought a new battery, but it didn't do the trick).
Thanks
Maybe the hinge of the battery compartment went bad.
Else you could get another EOS 1000FN for cheap, here in Spain you can get one from 20€ to 80€
Yeah. I ended up throwing away the one I had, I'll probably get a new one at some point off eBay. Thanks for taking the time to answer!
how do I download the photos with the film ?
is this an ef mount camera?
Yes
Hi Aaron
Its either the film was ten years expired or the sun was not behind you, because the colors are just totally weak...My Leica point-and-shoot camera would produce dazzling colors with a (fresh) Kodak Gold.
It's called film tape magic
Maybe I've missed it in the video, but what films do you suggest for this camera?
First roll Kodak Gold 200, Second roll Kodak gold, third roll Kodak Gold, and then Kodak Portra, Kodak Pro Image
hello! can I mount modern canon ef lenses on this camera? thanks
Yes
@@shotbyj1485 thanks
What lens was that?
What kind of Kodak gold film is good for this camera ?
All the Kodak gold. My favorite is 200 iso gold.
What lens did you use?
Looks like 50mm 1.8
Which battery does the 1000f use?
2cr5 I think, I mention it in the video
Aaron Fleming are they rechargeable?
I have one for sell...
