    It's funny, riding a bike was recommended to make gay guys straight, but one of the reasons people were afraid of women riding bikes is 'cuz they thought it would make them lesbians. I guess riding a bike just makes everyone attracted to women?

      every male sport is extremely gay when you think about it. they all get sweaty, mostly in bright colored tight form fitting clothing that leaves not much to the imagination. chasing & handling balls, and each other. spanking each other in on or around a field while swinging phallic symbols that also make regular contact with other mens balls. wrestling each other in cages. choking up on shafts trying to get a hole in one. even nascar is gay if you go by conservative definitions -- they go fast and always turn *left* . If I went to a "Cowboy Church" and found out that the only petting involved was horses, I'd be sorely disappointed.
    Given the often overlooked history of same-sex encounters among cowboys in the Wild West, they certainly chose a great tongue-in-cheek name for it.

      Last I checked they don't just "pet" horses.
      They literally stroke the horses dick. There was a news-article awhile back on it, of course not many covered it because "OMG SEXUAL CONTANT DETECTED! TABOO TABOO!".
      So basically it's bullshit "therapy" that might actually make you a zoophile (okay not literally, but you might end up out of the closet and possibly in prison over it), or like every-other "therapy" make you more likely to try to commit suicide.

    • @benw9949
      @benw9949 6 лет назад +3

      Kidding aside, that would not make me less gay, but also, I don't think it would make me have a thing for horses. I'm pretty sure it would just make me feel outclassed by the horse, or else just very aware that wasn't the thing for me. Not sure I'd mind it, necessarily, but I don't think it'd do a lot for me. He's a horse, not a human. Er, but it would probably make me really want to find a friendly guy. Dang, if that had happened when I was growing up, I wonder if it would've led to, ah, more positive experiences with friendly boys. Hmm. So, not how they think that therapy's supposed to work, huh? Why would they think that would turn you off of being gay? Er, and no, no female horses, thanks, that's just...no. I don't need to be touching that. Ew, no..(Well, I've just confirmed I'm gay again. not really a surprise by now, lol.)

      @benw9949 6 лет назад +3

      It just occurred to me to wonder if the horse likes it or wants to tell those guys to leave him alone, he's into other male horses. Or female horses. -- On the other hand (ahem) he might like it. Maybe it tickles, given the size differences? I dunno, but I still think it would only make me wish some of those other cowboys might like it more with a cowboy than a horse, y'know? At least I would. (No spurs, please, haha.)

    I'm a bisexual girl, at school (I study at a catholic kinda liberal school) we had a guest speaker, a "Therapist". She ran an orphanage and she said she cured gay people with "Bible therapy". After seven talks of 2 hours each I snapped and debated with her infront of the whole school for half an hour. In the end my argument of letting people live as they wish gained most acceptance and the supposed "therapist" stormed off since even the principal of the school agreed with me. I hope it is a win for the LGBT+ community.

    Hey, Matt! You are delightful as always.
    I grew up Baptist. There was more than enough tough love, and psychologically damaging love to go around at Cavalry Baptist Church of Edwardsville IL.
    My mother told a story of a "laying on of hands" for a boy in our neighborhood. It meant several prayer vigils, and a sort protestant version of an exorcism. The key to a Baptist exorcism is showmanship. I was told it took place in the living room of the house of the boy's parents. He was surrounded by the pastor and deacons. It took one afternoon. I am told the ladies waited in the kitchen during it. It was performed on a Saturday, and after Sundays service there was a potluck. He had been cleaned of his sin and could be welcomed back into the flock.
    So, as can be seen, it's all about the potluck.

    I am ace both romantically and sexually and teach in a small Texas town, and I find these videos very uplifting! I know being ace is not quite the same, but we do encounter our own frustrations, often from the same people giving homosexuals grief.
    *WARNING* I am about to go into an ace rant! Feel free to skip to the last paragraph! *WARNING*
    When I was getting certified I was told that you CANNOT be single and a teacher (partly for money reasons, which is wrong on SO MANY levels). I cannot say how frustrating it is to be surrounded by that mindset that YOU HAVE TO GET MARRIED and YOU HAVE TO HAVE CHILDREN constantly like I am in the school system. I have blown the minds of my students with how I have no intention of getting married or having kids. Really...why does my worth as a person always seem to come down to my uterus?! I even had one ask if I have a sister with kids (not even considering if I had BROTHERS with kids). When I said yes, she seemed relieved and said, "Oh, so she had your kids for you!" No kiddo, she had HER kids. I don't have any kids, I have cats.
    Even coworkers are difficult! Other teachers tell me that it will change as I get older (I'm almost 40 for crying out loud! I think I'm good!!) or meet the right guy (as far as I can tell I am not demisexual). And I can't tell you the number of times I have been passed over for raises, time off, etc. or was given extra work because I "don't have a family to think of".
    Yet somehow I'm the go to person for sex questions like, "What is a vasectomy?", despite being the ART teacher!!! All I can think is because I will give them a straight, honest answer, or they are trying to find the thing what will '"shock" me. I may not like to talk about this stuff but I do think it is important.
    I have to tread VERY carefully since I'm in the Biblebelt but I think that they should know more than: SEX, DON'T HAVE IT!!! Seriously, I've been told to make sure none of the animal sculptures are "anatomically correct" when teaching farm kids that have just come in from castrating pigs (not a joke...sadly)!
    *WARNING* I'm done! *WARNING*
    However, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be gay in this environment. Even though these videos don't apply to me directly, I feel better see so much support for alternative sexualities and gender identities! It makes me feel not so alone standing on the outside.

    What she describes Sounds like a mindfulness exercise I learned in therapy. You can turn your mind away from distressing thoughts by focusing on objective observations about the things around you.

      That's sort of the principle behind the "watching gay porn while on vomit-inducing drugs" "treatment". It's aversion therapy based on the Pavlovian model of negative conditioning. Try to get the subject's brain to associate smoking a cigarette (or smoking a pole) with nausea and vomiting, instead of the endorphin release of feeding an addiction (or having sex). It's just that that much nicotine in that short of time period causes nausea on its own.

I honestly don't know what to tell her when the subject of marriage comes up. She knows her mother won't turn up and I know that once it happens, she won't treat us the same.

    The title of this video made me think of a Cold Case episode, I think it was "Where the Boys Are" or something like that... Where this girl is just a tomboy and they think she might be a lesbian, so they send her to shock therapy and it ends up kinda making her a vegetable. And the friend that got her sent there mercy kills her at the end with a pillow... I think that was the first time I openly cried at the death of a gay character because it was just so real and relatable...

    I just became a new fan. I think you have the ability to cross some bounderies and change some minds with your information delivered with wit and confidence. Great job!
    I live in LA (CA, not Louisiana) and did a lot of marching for marriage equality during the Prop 8 days. I was also at the celebration in West Hollywood when we won. I got to personally thank the attorneys who were instrumental in our victory. That was a great day.
    Pence and the new Moral Majority appointees scare the hell out of me now!

    I'm so glad I wasn't subjected to this utter bullshit. Thing is, I'm not against one changing their sexual attractions, just in itself (not getting into the cultural baggage). But we're still in the fucking dark ages about that sort of technological (and it would have to be technological, not internal; we know this by now) access. And when we are, it won't even matter. I won't make myself gay, just bi, if anything. More to love.

    There's a famous letter from a would-be patient to Freud. She wanted him to turn her son straight. Siggy had to politely tell her that she'd be wasting her time.

    There is this movie about a lesbian cheerleader that goes to one of those "Ex-gay camps" forced by her family to stop being a lesbian. It's not a brilliant movie, but is really funny and is pretty realistic about how stupid those treatments are and how being sorounded by "manlyness" or "women things", doesn't help at all XD (Tha movie is "But I'm a cheerleader")

    It would be hilarious if it wasn't the truth. We all have a gay friend or family member by now. I don't get why anyone thinks it's a big deal at this point. I think young people today are much more together about this than we were. I was lucky. I had a gay uncle and two gay cousins. My lesbian cousin has been with the same woman for almost 40 years. When they come finally got married, they wanted a small informal affair. We convinced them to go big and helped them plan it. It was happy day for the whole family.

    I'm pretty sure the thing about people at Journey into Manhood touching themselves while naked isn't true. I know a few people who went to Journey into Manhood several times, and they were the type of Catholics who believed that touching themselves would be a mortal sin (i.e., a sin severe enough to send someone to Hell if not forgiven).
    However, there was an ex-gay "therapist", George Rekers, who forced his male clients to touch themselves during therapy sessions. This is the same therapist who was caught with a rentboy.

    Do you have any insight into Catholic Courage? They seem to have a loophole to the ex gay and reparative therapy approach by promoting chastity....hunger is ok as long as you never eat, and wings are ok just so long as you never fly. God understands if you are hungry or have wings, but if you eat or fly, then you are in mortal sin and will go to hell. How does anyone take this to heart and not go insane?
