I'm straight. I like women. And to be completely honest, if someone interrogated me and asked "why do you like women?" I would have no clue what to say. It's just always been that way. I just do. I have no interest in men. And no amount of "conversion therapy" is going to change that. My point is, sometimes "why" is a stupid question.
I think that’s a good attitude. No one can really answer why they love the people they love or why they enjoy the things they enjoy. Looking for some rationalization is both trivializing and futile
Agreed; I'm an entire homosexual and I've been asked that annoying question, "How do you find men attractive?" so many times. I mean...how do you even answer that? I guess it would have something to do with my brain being wired in a way that makes adult male attributes erotically stimulating to me and not adult female attributes but when I've used that as an answer, people still aren't satisfied. I've often found that the people who ask that question are assuming that everyone is naturally heterosexual but, at some point, I just woke up one day and was like, "You know...I think I'm going to start being attracted to men..." which, obviously, has been the case for exactly 0% of people. This question is just a troll question IMO. If you asked someone 'Why is your favorite color red?" or "Why is your favorite movie genre horror?" you run into the same wall. Why does anyone enjoy any of the things they do? I understand the fascination in figuring out what makes people like certain things (I love learning what makes people tick) but expecting them to answer that themselves is kind of a fool's errand.

the truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this .The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is, therefore, born with a predetermined attraction. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural expression of mammals & found commonplace in nature. Intelligent research in this area clearly explains this process. If you are truly interested in truth, based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay shows this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years ago by goat herders, an extensive bibliography. I would be worried if they ever did find a gene or combination of genes which provided indicators for sexual preference. Because right there and then the bigots would start looking for a "cure".
@William Webber Happily for us both, the question of a "gay" gene is a scientific one. So your dislike of gay people and my indifference to them won't make a blind of difference if and when the question is finally answered
@William Webber What they speak of is not a gene. They are speaking of science, however. Science that shows biological differences but the matter does not really matter. +HiddenInTheLight I disagree. The moral of the story is to never argue when you don't know what in the hell you are talking about. The "counselor" was parroting crap that he'd been and had not examined critically.
+HiddenInTheLight I think it's more: Don't assume you're smarter then someone else. Because some day you'll run into someone who will make you look like the fool you really are.
the truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! I strongly recommend the book. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace

He believes he has right to be free and unchallenged but challenge everyone else freedom. Meaning he can do what he wants and call himself what he wants and go where he wants. Because you own and can do nothing to him because he is oppressed
My father (now retired army officer) always uses that arguement about the "destruction of the structure of society" and one time I sat with him forever trying to untangle that.
I told him "what is that sacred structure?" He goes all out on the whole "Mariagge, kids, work, religion" etc.. So I tell him "then why do you oppose to people who fight for their right to get married, have kids, keep their jobs and actually be part of that same structure you're claiming they're destroying". That kinda put him into a rabbit hole. Because he was trying to use the "it's immoral" and I said that "morality" changes all the time except for this one thing. He went for the "it's not natural" and I explained to him that actually it's very natural. He said "kids watch them and get all confused" to which I replied "then why do the gay kids don't become straight by watching all the straights around them? In movies, shows, books, advertisements, their parents... Why are they still gay?"
After that endless talk he finally admitted "I understand what you're saying, but still it doesn't feel right". To which I said "that's what being conditioned is. The logic is there, the arguments are all there but you still cannot accept it with reasons that are beyond logic. Just a "feeling". And that feeling is usually cultivated and it's either hate or fear". He literally said "let's just agree to disagree" and I realised that he would never ever accept me.
It's horrible how he can't get past his prejudice even though you presented him with such spot-on arguments. I hope you're doing great, and maybe one day he'll truly understand that this conversation was to make him a better person who's able to see his child as they are.❤🩹

the truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! I strongly recommend the book. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace

Nargleberry Yes, I needed to hear those words, too. And I’m not gay. The strength to stand in ones own truth and not let the family opinion bring you down, it hits deep for me 💕🙏💕
Funny, he means “deal with it or have his life ruined by the lgbt and me”
16 / 02 / 2022 New Zealand’s Parliament has near-unanimously passed a legislation that bans practices intended to forcibly change a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, known as conversion therapy. Kind Regards
“Haven’t found a gay gene”
Haven’t found a straight gene either
I would be worried if they ever did find a gene or combination of genes which provided indicators for sexual preference. Because right there and then the bigots would start looking for a "cure".
@William Webber Happily for us both, the question of a "gay" gene is a scientific one. So your dislike of gay people and my indifference to them won't make a blind of difference if and when the question is finally answered
@William Webber What they speak of is not a gene. They are speaking of science, however. Science that shows biological differences but the matter does not really matter. I am more worried about the mental health of those who care so much about what others do with their sex organs that they rather them be dead then LGBTQ+. Really sad that such bigots still exist.

Any licensed therapist who is doing conversion therapy is doing so against the ethics and rules of their licensing board. It needs to be reported.
This video went up 10 yrs ago. Gay conversion therapy has been illegal in NJ since before this video was posted. Ocean Grove was founded as a Methodist town and is still owned by the Methodist church. You can’t sell alcohol there and cars are banned on Sundays in the town center so people are safe walking to church.

Moral of the story is to never argue with a law student unless you want to feel stupid. :D
+HiddenInTheLight This guy was a cut above even then. Watch him be the first gay attorney general.
But they were both law students...
Because some day you'll run into someone who will make you look like the fool you really are.
especially if your position is stupid
"Why are you gae?"
"I don't know, human sexuality is very complex and humans themselves are incredibly complex"
"You are gae"
the truth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! I strongly recommend the book. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace
@@dan69052 I do not think that is true
@@sus4710 makes more sense than an invisible man in the sky creating a homosexual person and then casting his creation into the fiery pits of hell, a place that this invisible man only created at the behest of his followers when they tried to convert the Greeks to Christianity in 49 AD, years after the death the world’s most famous bastard.

That sounds extremely irresponsible from Harvard. Surely they know that even if an applicants puts it down on a form, they are still young and might not have come out to their family yet.
this was years ago, im sure that by now theyve changed their policy
That's what woke American unis want to do nowadays. Absolutely milk the sh1t out of students' LGBT/minority status for their own reputation. They don't really care about the students.
This guy presents a solid rebuttal of all the specious anti-gay arguments. Well done!
+Brian Tyler OMG! Love your work!
he was studying to be a lawyer
+Brian Tyler It's kind of embarrassing to see how the counselor tries to pass ridiculous shit off as valid arguments: if you hate your mom, you're gay; if you hate your dad, too. LOL! He got lawyered alright! XD I enjoyed hearing the story of how Scott dismounted all of his crappy arguments.
+Brian Tyler I think the most fascinating part of the story was how he recognized that nothing was wrong with him, but rather, something was mentally or emotionally wrong with the counselor, and that is why he held the beliefs that he held.
*****
It wasn't an argument, it was an observation. I think you need to read it again. I was pointing out the fact that this young man was not at all angry or upset by this "counselor," because he recognized that this person likely held the views that he held because he had been emotionally and psychologically abused for being gay. Or did you just respond to the wrong person?
This needs to be played at every high school in the USA. Countless lives would be saved.

Well.. why are you attracted to women?
Lydia A
Or "Because I am gay."
Unfortunately the attraction to women is declining. Not because of beauty, it's because of personality.
I fucking hate that question
RJ 1999 Well there are lesbians that are attracted to women so I don't know if you're speaking only for men or in general? If you're gay you'll be attracted to men and if you're a lesbian you'll be attracted to women. People weren't straight always but people aren't killed for being homosexual nowadays (at least in the west) that's why we see openly gay people now more than ever.
That is literally what I told my mom when I told her...but in reverse.
Applause for being able to argument on the spot like that and defend yourself.
If you are going to try to convince a law student eligible for Harvard anything, you'd better have a really well-constructed case before you start. Building a case on prejudice is just not going to cut it. Boy would I love to have been a fly on the wall during that conversation!
Yeah right?
Who tries to argue with a lawyer? Thats what they are trained to do is like trying to outrun a sprinter
