Jim struggles to play the intro to a song he wrote himself while doing a Master Class Guitar Lesson. - Видеоклипы
he will remember before he forgets
.....omg
The Hazza You fucking didn't
For him All hope is gone
well everything ends, except pi that shit goes on and on
ja!!!! brilliant
he didnot forget.... he was tryin to get the pinch harmonics right
+Prabhav Pariyar and that is harder than it may seem!
***** exactly
Prabhav Pariyar Drop A Tuning. 6th fret on the 4th string. Perfect spot for pick squealing
That tuning I find it very easy
@@darktempest53 its drop a
So one of the heaviest sounding guitars I've ever heard is a Fender Telecaster...
With EMG Pickups
Dylan Hickey I know, just saying
Attila Felföldi 🐃
actually jim roots olnly uses fender guitars as far as i know
Az biztos
after 11 years this video is still popular, let me explain, he didn't forget, he's trying to play mick's intro :D
honestly didn’t even consider this
@@rodrigobravo5704 its crazy how one person who is educated says something. Then everyone else follows along like they know what they speak of
@@rodrigobravo5704 don,t feed the trolls..
no he’s not, he was trying to get the pinch harmonics right
@@7_dropademon i suggest you to go and buy the jim root instruction video by fret12 or watch some live videos and then you'll see that jim is harmonise the intro of the song. Until then, SHUT UP ALL OF YOU!!!!
I've never really understood why people are surprised that sticking ridiculously powerful active EMG pickups in a telecaster sounds heavy, the body shape isn't going to turn everything into country
Right?
Like do they know how the sound is made on electric guitars?
@@sanny8716 body shape. Flame decals also effect the sound a lot.
@@HenchGuyBlast On a solid body they have pretty much zero effect on the sound
@@sanny8716 that flew over your head.
@@sonofromel Nah, you're giving that person too much credit
He quickly refreshed his memories before he forget that
His dead memories
He never forgot tho lol
@@michaelblakley845 looks like someone didn't understand the joke
men learn to play pyschosocial
legends forget how to play pyschosocial
I forgot most of what guitarists will ever learn
Bum be kabrak
@@mrsimpleslowmo bumbe yarak
they have a lot of better songs
He didn't forget shit, just had to get a feel for pinch harmonics with that terrible tone. Plus the bit at the end was from another part of the masterclass
Finowa
LOL, he actually probably forgot, and quickly refreshed his memory. Yes the feel for 'pinch harmonics, but at that level its second nature, so no excuses there. AND the tone was made by him before that do the shoot, all artists dial in their settings on the set amp before a shoot. That is basically the tone that gets recorded, except with more bottom end and a meatier range of frequencies that are required to mix with drums. So that is actually about the tone he plays with,
Plus he fucks up live all the time and doesn't give one shit. Fucking love Jim, he's grunge as fuck
No, he's playing through one of those combo amps in this vid. Live he does though
Which is forgetting, dumbass.
I wouldn't say that's him forgetting.
Pinch harmonics can sound cool but they can really be hit or miss. If you want the exact same sound every time you attempt to do the same pinch harmonic, you have to find where exactly you played it before, also, your guitar and the effects, amp, and cab can also greatly affect the sound and positioning of the pinch harmonic.
Also known as "knowing how to play"
in the full video he implies that he might have forgotten how to play it
Or guitar must be perfectly set up.
@@Miscio94 do you even play guitar😂
This is BS. True for a beginner, not true at all for any experienced guitar player. The nodes on the string don't move.
But, he can play Smoke on the Watter?
Angel Alvarado
No, bet I bet he can play Smoke On The Water
Off course
Nope
@@AceKidd-iq3vi Smoke on the watter is the Yorkshire version.......it's usually pronounced "smoke on t' watter"
Of course he can’t! What kind of stupid ass question is that??
His reaction instantly made me smile, as it was real - I can imagine the pressure to play something perfect while being filmed 1 on 1 must be worse than the pressure of playing live in a band.. idk but I can imagine that
You're 100% right
At the beginning, you can hear a quiet "go". Some say it was merely a person behind the cameras. I say it was Corey's muffled "go" from Before I Forget reaching forward from the darkest recesses of Jim's mind.
no it was his voice cut
@@irina0084 No, it was a manifestation of Corey telepathically opening the song for Jim
Would be very ironic if it was "Before I forget" that Jim forgot
he's cool as hell, when he was 16 and blowing minds he was friendly to everyone at shows and the guitar shop...
We need to see more videos like this, it makes us players realise that even band members make mistakes and struggle sometimes. It shows us they are human like everyone else.
Long haired Andy Serkis, is that you?
I was watching LOTR behind the scenes and say to myself WTF is Jim Root doing on the set of LOTR lol
Listen closely at the beginning. You can hear "go" being whispered.
Corey Taylor #8 Obviously so, lmao, I was just pointing it out
It was the muffled "go" from Before I Forget reaching forward from the darkest recesses of Jim's mind.
@Cuntcrusher no shit, sherlock
He sounds like all of us trying to learn how to play Psychosocial... lol
Didn’t know Andy Serkis is a member of Slipknot.
Yeah, that man can play everything.
My Favorite guitarist of all time! So much elegance 👌
Crazy how much tone he gets w that guitar
thats such a beast tone...
I WANT IT
andy serkis plays the guitar really well 🤘
He will remember before he forget
He is awesome!:)
I love Jim
i love the way he plays.
this comes in my recommended right on his birthday..❤️
Gives me hope as someone who can't play perfectly to save my life.
@@rodrigobravo5704 he clearly forgot how to do those pinch harmonics
@@palmeraniian He's playing Mick's part. That's not his part.
Just didn't get the pinch harmonics __no wrong notes were played
Jim Roots laugh is wholesome 💚
Where is the full video of this thing? I need to watch it so cool!
lol oh my god i love jim root!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is so amazing love that tone
"That tone" was hot shit, thats why he needed to figure out how to get the pinches.....
Imagine being in Slipknot and owning a telecaster. Poor telecaster didn’t see that coming.
Little did you know Tele’s can make some of the chunkiest sounds with the right effects based off of their body
@@brodyschriefer7243 I know man I was just joking around. Telecasters have a really cool sound. But it used to be associated more with a twangy country style. I like the crossover
I mean it's not like he's playing an ordinary Telecaster. He's got EMG 81s in there, you could basically put those inside of a hollowbody from the 1920s and it would sound moderately heavy
that tone at 0:04, the way that note sounds is just so good idk how slipknot have that kinda twangy sound to some of their notes but i love it
I love this guy
Jim to his guitar: My preccciouuussssz!
Legends sounds great even they fail🤘
It still sounds good when he plays it !
That tone. Oh my word.
Essa delecastar é diferenciada , sé loco , som top !!
He's allowed to forget. With all the Slipknot, Stone Sour and songs he just likes to play it's a lot to remember. I used to know a couple hundred songs. I'm lucky if I remember 50 of them. Look at bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, they're always having to relearn their own songs. Hence why they usually play them differently because they pretty much tab their own songs by ear.
that is some fucking awesome sounds.
He remembered before he forgot
i like the james root guitar playing because he is more of freedom playing just at live show he don`t bother to torcher himself to play every solo exactly the same as the album but he play from where he feels right.
first time i tried to play this song it sounded like exactly like this
People keep mentioning the before I forget but I after so long I could see his Dead Memories Surfacing again about the song
jim is so cool
I just watch Jim's videos to hear is laugh I swear
He's human after all
Been there before. Forgot so much over the years.
now that is a telecaster you would love to have
I can hear him remembering it and gaining traction with it hahaha. That's awesome. I bet 5 more minutes and it would be perfect. And god that tone is perfect the whole way through even with the mistakes.
an EMG 60/81 set and an Orange amp is just perfection
He is only human cause it's hard to always be able to remember riffs sometimes
what a wild tone
still great
This is proof that with a beard you gain +10 charisma and +20 skill additions.
To be fair most musicians are like this from what I've seen. Especially the ones who have as many songs as Jim does to remember. Ive seen videos where they come up with the set list and have to relearn the songs because they haven't played them in years
I forget songs all the time even if i play em daily. Sometimes shit just slips your mind!
sooo crunchy that sound !..
I’m not social I’m not social. That’s how my brother likes to sing the song
Lol this is exactly me when I miss the harmonics
No one cares
I do
i also care
I care too
i care as well
this gives me the same feeling of when i attempted to play funk on my warlock which was downtuned to drop A#
Very good sound, verry perfect guitarist !
I like the band thing on his picking hand. I want one, I'd think it help me alot from losing grip of the pick during songs. I wonder where I could find one.
It’s just a hair band whenever he wants to put his hair up.
@@mephistopheles7545 lmao
@@garrettshelton5788 😂😂😂
Composing a song that way might work if you're in a rock band. The most out of the box way to possibly compose is to compose melodies in your head. Learn music theory and notation and then notate the score. You'll come up with lots more interesting things than you would just improvising. Because improvising usually leads to going by patterns you're already comfortable with. Writing your ideas out as sheet music is a much more organized and reliable way of composing.
Ok, old guy
I can now say that I can play guitar like Jim Root
Here he does look and sound like a heavy metal Andy Serkis.
o cara toca muito meu idolo, jim root valeu cara!! the guy plays a lot of my idol, jim root thx dude
fofo
Playin it before I forget
My god that tone🤟🤟🔥🔥😳😳
"Ya know"
AHHAHAHAH "ya know"
if i see one more before i forget joke i swear
Same 💀💀
Best cover !
Happens to the best of us
But can he play hot cross buns?
ppl are like heavy telecaster blah blah blah, a guitar is a empty shell you can make it sound the way you just like zakk wylde makes acoustic sound for example
wow that some voice that jim root has
goddamn that tone
How can he forget his own band song that they have played dozens of thousands of times? That’s a stupid video title!
It's not a usual Telecaster, is it? This one has a kickass metal tone
it's his signature fender telecaster with EMG pickups
That's not completely true... I have his $1200 flat white fender telecaster and it has an ebony fretboard. When this one has a maple one like his black model...
Austin M That's true. Could be a prototype..
He has swapped the necks of his signature telecasters, he talks about it in a rig rundown
It really happens..His great!!
What a killer pickup
Actually Im lead guitarist and I just didnt teach him my part.
Richard Dantz lolol idiot
haha he forgot how to pinch
@tgei346 Its pinch harmonic , squeals .
When you pick the string you slightly touch it with your thumb and bend the string, also make sure your distortion(gain etc.) is high. theres great lessons on here, hope it helps.
that tone
Jesus, this should be easy for him
it whas allmost 4 years before this whas uploaded till he last wrote it
kitramsey5150 exactly this. It's the same reason why a lot of musicians will say they need to go learn their songs when they put out new albums before they tour. A lot of playing guitar is just muscle memory
He said corey had to teach him how to play vermillion part 2 because he forgot
This is fake audio..
audio is pretty real, look for jim root masterclass for guitarpart magazine, he just didnt quite get the right pitch on the note and then proceeded to repeat the part till he got it right :3
It's not fake, I've seen the whole video of it.
very original icon
Edited audio.
gclark2708 Tell me why
No idea, forget I said it lol
I love his laugh :D
wow he makes it look so easy
I loving that funnt laugh he have!
you just blew my fucking mind
Still sick asf!
clever, very clever.
You rock¡¡¡!!!!
@V3xify yea he is playing the right notes, he didnt forget how to play it. You can see by his finger placement. Its the "sweet spot" to hit the harmonic he's looking for.
this guy its a monster!
Go Jim, Drunk, You're Home.
