    All Hope Is Gone had some of the most technical and insane riffs Slipknot has ever done. To this day. Mick is an underrated master of his craft. His movements are almost robotic. You can tell this man has spent countless years honing his ability.

      Guitar-wise it's one of their best records. Not just the riffing, but the addition of solos and more complex arrangements on the slower songs too.

      @Enno I slightly agree with you, but he's very clean, and his writing is way better than the average player. I'd say above average guitarist over all. He's not Yngwie Malsteen or Steve Vai, but you don't need to be them to write killer riffs.

      I think its that majoruty of their stuff is easy to play.... Diluded, custer, etc but songs like gematria, heretic anthem, and so on are eye openers when you hpw its done. I wont lie I love Jim and Mick but some guitarist are just more technical and as a guitarist I must say it looks good to see fingers all over that fretboard... I listen to slow as shit like whitechapel so there are slower and easier shit out there.... but i think its shit like this that could have people not like them... the metal elitists are pricks I wont lie... regardless bad ass guitarists.

    I never liked their music too much, but this man seems to execute his riffs like a life or death matter.
    He's almost always the one starting the riffs live, and he always executes them perfectly.
    Not to mention, his stage presence is exceptional. The size, the mask choice, the violent static headbanging, he surely of utterly importance to the band.

      Having technically demanding songs is always a pain in the ass to record, especially if you’re quadtracking. All he does is using Wah with tones of pedal effects to the point that all you hear is noise.. And why is it that AHIG most technical songs are never played live? This Cold Black, Gematria, Butcher's Hook, Vendetta, All Hope is Gone.. Are they too difficult to play while headbanging or doing crazy shit live? I don't know, I love Slipknot but this are questions that I will never know the answers for, those songs kick much more asses than the ones of AHIG they always play.

      Joel Dergal I admit, he's not great at solos. But you can't deny he is excellent at almost everything else. I heard that AHIG was written in small groups, so apparently thats why they don't play certain songs live. Also they weren't as popular as some of there other songs.

    • @joeldergal5147
      @joeldergal5147 10 лет назад +3

      What I meant is that his solos in studio sound great, but he can't reproduce them live, I don't know why, and there are plenty of songs in AHIG that have excellent guitars, I'd say most of them, but they only play Sulfur, Dead Memories and Psychosocial (sorry if I forgot any but I've only seen them playing those live) and it's a shame they don't include all the other amazing and much more complex songs live. I hope they won't do the same with the next album.

    • @tandex710
      @tandex710 10 лет назад +1

      Joel Dergal That doesn't necessarily mean they can't play them but they need to put songs they feel would fit into their set. They have a specific standard for their sets so they're going to add songs they feel add to that. Gemetria is a great song but can they get the same level of energy on stage while still executing the song effectively? Probably but they also might feel that Sulfur and Psychosocial can do it better. I mean who knows at the end of the day, but if i had to guess....

Sometimes I get kinda heavy, but it's mostly w my vocals. I'm sure if I had my old rig and pedals, I'd thrash every now and then. Regardless, I'd say Slipknot is the most balanced commercially successful modern metal/thrash band out there. They not only write stuff that's catchy to none metal listeners, but they add very technical aspects while blowing your face off. Who else screams(traditional metal) like Corey and sings that is in the same level of success as Slipknot?
