  • 7:39 Topwater Shark Explosion
Fishing has been slow and I was yearning for some topwater schoolies so I launched the yak behind AC and fished the marshes. Overcast, 80 degrees, 10mph NE wind, the table was set for some dusk feeding activity. I fished 5-dusk and caught one 26" Bass on a pink zoom on a 3/8ths oz kalin, as well as one short fluke. I had a lot of bites which I edited out but I think there were a bunch of small seabass, scup, searobins, weakfish, etc. The mullet and peanut bunker were both visible at times and places although there didnt seem to be much chasing them. Right around 7:30 I saw a nervous school of mullet and probably my 3rd cast at them a mysterious wake appeared behind my spook, I noticed a dorsal fin and called shark, then he trailed off the spook so I slowed it down and within a couple walks of the dog.....
The topwater shark crack is real. One of the craziest things Ive seen in a long time, and I hope to some how get another shot at a shark on topwater.
    Thanks for watching!
    Filmed with gopro hero3+silver amzn.to/2iy8PyO
My Kayak is a Hobie Revo 13, like this except older - amzn.to/2i8N5uk
The Fishfinder is a Lowrance Elite 5: amzn.to/2iwROJk
The Clip is a Tactical Anglers Clip amzn.to/2i8LsNd
    Rod/Reel-
    G. Loomis Pro Green 7'4"
    Shimano Sustain 4000fe amzn.to/2ix063Y
The spook was a cheapo bomber spook, and the other topwater lure was a smack it jr.

accidently hooked up on a 14 foot tigershark in the yak once...
I know the fucker was 14 feet, because the damn thing cruised right up to the boat before it snorked a 12" live mackrel scad I was slow trolling 70 yards back. no fucks given, just popped up and said "Hi" then flipped a 180 and B lined for my bait.
and when his nose was level with my bow, his tail was just short of my stern. (was driving a 14.5 foot malibu X factor at the time.)
wasn't the first tiger I've hooked, but so far it was the biggest.

I would recommend that you start fly fishing. I think you'd have some fun with that. Get an 8-9 wt rod with a sink tip line, you'll be set for red fish, striper, and drum. Maybe even a small shark if you fell like having a nice fight. Get a short 7'-8'6 fly rod to balance well in your kayak. Trust me. Spend $300 and you'll have the time of your life after 30 minutes of practice casting! Cheers and good luck to ya! Message me if you'd like some more information!
