***** im smart enough to understand the difference between a invasive and non invasive species and why he killed it. maybe you should take some time and do some research on the kind of damage snake heads cause.
watching you guys reminds me of my childhood fishing the Schuylkill . We would walk along the river finding hooks and string to fish with. We used rocks and stones for weights and always caught some nice Carp and Catfish
Thanks for this video. Went out today, July 27th, 90 degrees at 1:00 P.M. to the local pond and tried this technique out. I got a pretty big channel cat on within 10 minutes using this method. IT WORKS!
I love a good baitcaster combo. The one you caught the 25.3lb flathead on is real nice. I have an old Abu Garcia baitcaster reel that I built out of parts that I had laying around when I was in my early teens and I still have it. I've caught shark and tarpon with it and it still works like new. I haven't been fishing in years and I miss it. I still have a few really nice rods and reels, I should reline them and get back to it with my sons. It's just hard for me to justify spending $40 for a fishing license to only go a few times a year.
Gotta love the Internet! Guy posts a video using cutbait to smash some very nice Flatheads....folks leave comments telling him how to fish. "You should use livebait. Cut bait is for Blues." LoL. Nice video, Fellas!
What #test for that 20’ shock leader? Would it transition well tied to 60# braid mainline? That’s what i run..but just been swiveling that directly to about 20” of slider rig like yours. Would 30-40’ of shock leader be overkill? Thanks guys, awesome vid...beautiful spot there!!
whatever yall are doing, keep it up! at least you're producing! I've got some of the best catfishing gear and have never caught a cat over 4 pounds. nice catches guys.
Awesome video, however I don't understand why you would use a gaf hook on a fish you intend to release. Normally, catch and release is about releasing the fish with minimal damage.
I've had fish break off, only to re-catch it a short while later with my rig/lure in its mouth. I recall many situations i have caught the same fish more than once and consider it fairly common. A recent occurrence was, when my son had a bass bust off a spinner bait last week and later watched the same bass leap out of the water with the spinner bait in its mouth. So, he cast to it and caught it again and got his spinner bait back. The bass was a healthy 3ish pound adult. Fish that are feeding are not reasoning the situation, they are not any more educated by being caught. I wish I could remember the study that was done, but it showed that a large mouth bass has about a 5 minute "reset" after you miss it. I have used this to my advantage many times after a big hit and miss. I give it a few minutes and then hit the same spot, better prepared. I was raised on the water and would wade fish grass beds and piers. Occasionally when not targeting panfish, I would catch and release bass. I would catch the same bass, in the same spot, on the same rubber worm, almost like clock work on different days. Catfish are just as predatory and territorial. As long as you are fishing with bait they eat, it is possible to catch the same big cats over and over. They are not going to change their diet or loose their appetite. Appetite is not voluntary, it is involuntary need and to a predator, it is what drives them.
I landed a 16lbs channel cat on my ultralight uglystik with 10lbs fireline and a Pfleuger President size 30 it was fun and I thought I would not get him turned around.
yo man great vid, this is the first year im gonna really try and target flatheads due largely and wit alot of help from ur vids haha but ive been google mapping some good looking spots around philly but was wondering weather ur not u preferred tidal, non tidal or if it just doesnt matter at all
I have a plentiful bait source for sunnies, but no bluegills - would you know if redbreasts and green sunnies will work as well as the bluegills do? Enjoy your vids!
How do you like using the Mojo Musky rod for catfish? Which model are you using? Ive been thinking about trying a musky rod and a lot of the die hard cat guys turn their nose at them
zach Clemens near birdsboro? I'm struggling with time to hunt around for new spots. I have a special needs child which consumes most of my schedule. I do fish near the black rock boat launch in my kayak and had gotten a few. any spots you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. and I'm always looking for people who kayak or bank fish to have some fun.
Nice fish. The only problem is that in the state I live in we cannot use game fish for bait. Yeah, if the state catches you having any fun at all, they shoot on sight.
Cut bait and live bait both work well, cut bait is easier to cast and seems better for colder water, high muddy water is usually the time for live but this day for some reason we went with the cut.
+Jacinda Sattizahn This is the Schuylkill in Collegeville. There are decent spots all up and down the schuylkill, I'd check the list of lakes provided by the PA fish and boat commission to see what options you have near by
+Ricky “Strawhatfisherman” Hendricks I could see it stripers are super opportunistic. I've caught em as a kid as big as 10 lbs on chicken liver. now as an adult I catch em in fresh water rivers with huge live shad. 40 inch fish aren't uncommon. that's in Kentucky. I live just north in Ohio and fish big cats in my spare time and there are plenty of striper and hybrid striper on our rivers just not over 20lbs at least that I've encountered
nice! I have a crew I fish with, a lot like your group of guys. we land some badass blue cats. but haven't had as much luck with the flathead. where are you guys fishing??
+Eric Glickman Glickman Its not easy.. this was a rare day when we got into multiple big fish. After a rain when the water turns brown and is receding is the time to catch a big one, definitely fish with live/fresh cutbait, definitely fish dusk-into the night. other then that, its just putting in the time, finding the big ones takes lots of time, its a tricky puzzle to put together. For now our season is just about over, come next season though hit me up Ill give ya some info/tips
sounds good ,ive fished this spot in the video after some nice rain about 2 months ago and got skunked. have you ever fished on the skuke off of 113 and the boat ramps?
+Eric Glickman Glickman Dang, yea I get skunked during prime conditions sometime too haha, I've never fished where 113 goes over but on google maps it looks really good, bridges are a favorite area for flatheads to hang out because theres usually undercuts in the pilings and debris build up. Certain times there will be huge log jams on bridge piers, and if you stumble upon a huge log jam, even if its 4' of water or so, you will have big flatheads holed up in there. I think the spot you mention would be good for holding big flatheads, log jam or no log jam, the piers are enough to hold fish.
yeah man , up the river at the train bridge seems like a prime spot. the current cuts off and theirs huge log jams. just haven't gotten any big girls yet earlier this season. only small flatheads and channels
great video but words of advice.Even though theses fish are very resilient fish never hold a big fish vertical very longl. All their entrails fall down and stress the fish out along with damaging them.I hold lots of catfish tourneys and we learned the hard way.Anyway great video and detail to instruction.Good fishing and good luck.
+Chris McIntee ok cool even if I have a little fire? just saw the 2 houses there the other day when I went to check it out water looked low so gonna wait till a good rain comes
+Ryan Stout yea the water is extremely low, better off waiting. Adding a fire into the equation will make you more likely to get in trouble but use your judgement, I didn't say it but you'd probably alright with a little fire
You guys would love a euro rod pod ...I am out here in Cali and fish large Carp...check out some rod pods....lotta sellers online here in the states now :)
+Liem Vo I really like my tiralejo. Lamiglas is probably the most used brand surf rod that I see, Id think a 1-3oz 9' Lami would be Tops. If youre looking for cheaper, the mojo seems to be pretty popular. I've really only ever had one surf rod though, hope that helps!
no you can't sell live bluegill. catch your own throw them imediatly in a cooler with frozen bottles of water to keep them cold but not "Washed out" in melted ice water, good for 24 hrs. just like fresh caught
Awesome video on catching these beauties on cut flapper bait, I have never caught a flathead on dead bait but I will try my best on my next fishing trip. Great job guys.....My biggest flathead was almost 62lbs on a live bull head. Wow what a fight.Want to share a annimated story I made up for my grand kids, it's about a flathead cat that gets really mad at all the fisherman for trashing our rivers and streams. you can check it out on RUclips under tulare8 -A fishermans grin.God bless Good fishingMarty Henry
Chris, I fish around the area you do and Ive been trying to catch some 20+ pound catfish. Could you please help me by telling me where this spot is? My little brother and I have been trying to catch bigger catfish without having to go to Philly to fish the Schuykill River. Please comment back. Thanks!
Looking forward to more flathead fridays!!!

+FlashTinlegs hahahaha nice
wat?
+dillontrinh2001 are you referring to when he killed that INVASIVE snakehead? where the WFP says they need to be killed?
***** im smart enough to understand the difference between a invasive and non invasive species and why he killed it. maybe you should take some time and do some research on the kind of damage snake heads cause.
watching you guys reminds me of my childhood fishing the Schuylkill . We would walk along the river finding hooks and string to fish with. We used rocks and stones for weights and always caught some nice Carp and Catfish
Definitely learning some knowledge from these flathead Friday videos! Keep them coming and I'll keep watching. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. Went out today, July 27th, 90 degrees at 1:00 P.M. to the local pond and tried this technique out. I got a pretty big channel cat on within 10 minutes using this method. IT WORKS!
That is one of cool way to fish with cutbait for sure, definately going to be using it this coming fishing year. Thanks for sharing :)
I loved the "Flapper". Thanks, I'm always open to new ideas for fishing. If it ever quits raining, whenever I get a day off, I'll give it a try.
Loved the idea of Flathead Friday! Good coverage on the Flapper. Heh. Tight lines, man.
The Flapper is Brilliant.! Great Video Gentlemen. Yes, brand new subscriber right now.! Keep the videos comin'.!

You got me yelling flathead Friday every Friday and loving the flapper presentation
Wish I had a nice river like this to fish on
Epic session, Chris. All you kids at home watch out for those wires overhead.
Thank you for the tips! Great video! That current seam!
Good fishing boys, I'm loving that nice setup you got there.

This is still one of my all-time favorite videos. I'm here to report that "The Flapper" officially works for Michigan Flatheads!
+Cast And Blast TV It honestly warms my heart to hear the flapper worked for you in Michigan haha keep catchin em!
very cool, thanks for sharing, i couldnt make out the rod holders but they look good.
I use this rig pretty regularly now. Works pretty good!
Nice... nice ... flatheads, truly enjoyed the fishing adventure...
Gotta love the Internet! Guy posts a video using cutbait to smash some very nice Flatheads....folks leave comments telling him how to fish.
"You should use livebait. Cut bait is for Blues."
LoL. Nice video, Fellas!
Jonathan White Metal detecting far radio right
Now do I detect them for media rights
I subscribed because you guys have a habit of releasing some and keeping some.. Some people just keep anything that hooks..
I do a lot of bluegill fishing because my brother (fishing partner obviously) always uses them for bait. I'll definitely be trying the flapper!
after 5:00 what kind of baitcaster set up were you using? liked the videos big fish. big "fan"
the schuylkill river up north where I am in schuylkill county pa is rust orange from all the mine drainage
I love this type of fishing. Awesome fishing, man
I always thought it was cool that you could put a cat on the edge of the bank and they could wiggle into the water themselves 😂😂😂

I know that's a blunt in his mouth. at 10:45
thanks for the "flapper" insight!
Awesome video, however I don't understand why you would use a gaf hook on a fish you intend to release. Normally, catch and release is about releasing the fish with minimal damage.

How do you keep turtles from eating bait
Awesome fishing dude!! We don't have cats like that where I live just big carp.

Lmao I saw that bro
I landed a 16lbs channel cat on my ultralight uglystik with 10lbs fireline and a Pfleuger President size 30 it was fun and I thought I would not get him turned around.
yo man great vid, this is the first year im gonna really try and target flatheads due largely and wit alot of help from ur vids haha but ive been google mapping some good looking spots around philly but was wondering weather ur not u preferred tidal, non tidal or if it just doesnt matter at all
Nice cats, what lb test are you using?
Did you guys put the picnic table there? It was nice to have the last time I went to that spot.
+Justin Oscar haha we did not, it was super convenient though
Dumb question here...So, what happens to the bait? Do the fish eat it or does it fall off when the hook is set?
I have a plentiful bait source for sunnies, but no bluegills - would you know if redbreasts and green sunnies will work as well as the bluegills do? Enjoy your vids!
Yep they all work the same, although green sunfish seem to work especially well
+Chris McIntee Good to know, thanks and keep up the great work...
Yea anything in that range will work bullheads also work well for flatheads
That kind of action makes the beer taste great!
What kind of penn reel your using
How do you like using the Mojo Musky rod for catfish? Which model are you using? Ive been thinking about trying a musky rod and a lot of the die hard cat guys turn their nose at them
what part of the Schuylkill River is that? which town? I catch them in Collegeville in my kayak and looking for new spots.
This is near the dump in perk valley
zach Clemens near birdsboro? I'm struggling with time to hunt around for new spots. I have a special needs child which consumes most of my schedule. I do fish near the black rock boat launch in my kayak and had gotten a few. any spots you are willing to share would be greatly appreciated. and I'm always looking for people who kayak or bank fish to have some fun.
Great video and cool technique. That looks like a Mojo Musky rod in the video? If so, which model?
what size weight were you using? line poundage?
+bobb613 fishin'pa 3-4 ounce weights, I/we generally use 50lb braid for flatheads.
+Sea-Money Fishing thank you the flapper technique got me a 67 pounder blue catfish
damn dont those have teeth?
No, they have sandpaper like grippers. They can rub some skin off but aren't going to cut you up like a pike or muskie or anything like that.
Nice fish. The only problem is that in the state I live in we cannot use game fish for bait. Yeah, if the state catches you having any fun at all, they shoot on sight.
Sunfish are considered game fish where you live?
where im from sunfish are not game fish
In SC that's a game fish.
In PA, if you catch sunnies, you can use them for bait.
Chinese Mugwump sorry bro but that is dumb AF
what's the best bait to use in the Ohio river? location indiana.
Adam Green I bow fish the Ohio. From Kentucky here. But for cat I've always used skipjack
Adam Green skip Jack, shad, bluegill, drum. All local fish that make perfect cut bait.
Gold fish brother. Zanesville native here.
Do u prefer cut bait over live or do u just want more scent because of muddy water?
Cut bait and live bait both work well, cut bait is easier to cast and seems better for colder water, high muddy water is usually the time for live but this day for some reason we went with the cut.
Bad ass video dudes.....way to put that steel to em!
If you don't mind me asking where in pay are you fishing? My family and I can't seem to find a good place for shore fishing.
+Jacinda Sattizahn This is the Schuylkill in Collegeville. There are decent spots all up and down the schuylkill, I'd check the list of lakes provided by the PA fish and boat commission to see what options you have near by
Awesome catch and release!
Another great video! Only 12 away from 1,000 subs!!!
***** thanks man! yea Im excited to see 1000 subscribers ;)
you are so good at fishing
Why slop up a public table when a small piece of 1/4 inch ply wood would do the job and let you have a clean table. Sloppy guys.
John J. Bluvas The Rain Will wash it off!!:)
love your videos, keep it up
did you buy or make the rod holders you are using in the video
What a great video.................I subbed....................
what kind of reel is on the one with the first fish caught
I can't believe I've never tried the flapper before.
nice! I have only tried live bait for flathead.
Why are you using a St Croix Mojo Musky rod for catfish private pile?!
I've been cattin for years and never thunk up this "flapper" good idea and I will def try it.
it works for more than catfish ive caught a 7 pound striper in a river with it
+Ricky “Strawhatfisherman” Hendricks I could see it stripers are super opportunistic.
+MyBallsUrJaws thats cool im wanting to catch more myself so im trying to find the best way to catch them
nice! I have a crew I fish with, a lot like your group of guys. we land some badass blue cats. but haven't had as much luck with the flathead. where are you guys fishing??
dont know why i cant pull out anything over 15lbs out of the schuylkill. any tips?

Nice vídeo.
Ricardo Tiveta your not supposed to let them go they are invasive an are supposed to be killed immediately
Just eat IT
What are those rod holders made of?
Cat Daddy Fishin pvc piping
I notice some of them got the a sand spike attached
great video but words of advice.Even though theses fish are very resilient fish never hold a big fish vertical very longl. All their entrails fall down and stress the fish out along with damaging them.I hold lots of catfish tourneys and we learned the hard way.Anyway great video and detail to instruction.Good fishing and good luck.
have you ever gotten kicked out of that spot thinking about goin this weekend but don't want to get in any trouble
+Ryan Stout nope youll be fine :)
+Chris McIntee thanks I appriciate it man
so can u use tilapia for the flapper and catch channel cats, and flatheads and if so have u tried it
Why the hell would you use talipa for bait??
what do you think about using bullheads for flathead bait?
They work well, I've got some vids on here where we use them. Best in muddy flowing water
+Sea-Money Fishing thanks, I'll have to check those videos out.
+Sea-Money Fishing hey man, I got another quick question. what size sinker do you recommend for heavy current?
Did you guys make your own rod holders?
You guys would love a euro rod pod ...I am out here in Cali and fish large Carp...check out some rod pods....lotta sellers online here in the states now :)
great video. where is this place at?
Awesome spot :) appreciate FLAT videos 2 thumbs up .. Coughs tried looking for a land mark in background for location:) coughs
what rod was the one guy using with his stradic?
+Liem Vo Its an 8' Tica surf rod I believe.
+Sea-Money Fishing thanks, I'm looking for a good 9 foot rod for striped bass fishing. Any suggestions for a good plugging/bucktail rod?
+Liem Vo I really like my tiralejo. Lamiglas is probably the most used brand surf rod that I see, Id think a 1-3oz 9' Lami would be Tops. If youre looking for cheaper, the mojo seems to be pretty popular. I've really only ever had one surf rod though, hope that helps!
What type of rod and reel are you using
What conventional reel are you using
What part of PA? Im originally from the pittsburgh area. Im looking for good flathead and blues
Great video keep em coming !!!
where did you get the bait? can you buy live bait like blue gill?
no you can't sell live bluegill. catch your own throw them imediatly in a cooler with frozen bottles of water to keep them cold but not "Washed out" in melted ice water, good for 24 hrs. just like fresh caught
Myrna Swanson that’s not true, we buy our live bluegill from a bait shop not far from the schuylkill
Awesome video on catching these beauties on cut flapper bait, I have never caught a flathead on dead bait but I will try my best on my next fishing trip. Great job guys.....My biggest flathead was almost 62lbs on a live bull head. Wow what a fight.Want to share a annimated story I made up for my grand kids, it's about a flathead cat that gets really mad at all the fisherman for trashing our rivers and streams. you can check it out on RUclips under tulare8 -A fishermans grin.God bless Good fishingMarty Henry
tulare8 I have never caught a flathead on dead bait either. I was actually surprised bc my entire life I was taught flathead spit anything dead out.

My little brother and I have been trying to catch bigger catfish without having to go to Philly to fish the Schuykill River. Please comment back. Thanks!
This is the schuylkill in collegeville
