They bombed this article though saying it was caught by Ryan Romanski, who I was fishing with at the time and who posted the picture to facebook. Its also funny they chose this 31lber when there were several larger Flatheads caught this week alone, a 31lber isn't a river monster, but all that said its still pretty cool.
Good night of flathunting, got my first 30lber of the season, Romo lost a good one and we caught em all on cut bullheads.
4:01 -- LMAO. You did the smart move, though. Their neck are no joke!
You ever try using the bullheads as live bait??
Would cut channel cat work good for bait
Shark bite injury?
Near what town?
Patiently waiting to see the monsters we caught. Hahaha. That rod is awesome. In awe of how you can just whip a live bullhead out on that thing. I tried that on my surf rods and I think I'd lose the end of the pole.
We had our best outing of the year Friday July 17. They were hitting non stop.
I feel your pain with the turtles and bullheads. Whenever I fish for Carp at my local pond, at least 90 percent of the time I catch bullheads and turtles. And Nice Catfish!
You have to luv monster catfishing grew up on Erie cana in new York used to get shad out of locks and put in Sun till they got ripe and fished on out side of lock in evenings what a blast biggest was 21 but never really weighed them all the time ! I believe these were yellow or blues not sure but it was allot of fun for the family
much like you I am also on the quest for the PA state record.....caught a 41 pounder in June out of the Susquehanna river....getting closer....best of luck to you....and hopefully one of us can catch the "one"......48 pounds....let's get a 50 pounder.
Ha Same my closest one was 39lbs
Nice turtle fishing vid. If you take a wooden dowel the diameter of a pencil or arrow you can unhook those bullheads no matter how deep they swallow it. Hold the fishing line with the fish dangling, shove the dowel as deep as you can and twirl the fish around keeping the line tight. The line wraps around the dowel and pulls out the hook. If the line is breaking use a slightly heavier leader. Have a nice day.
Your cooler is what I use as my lunchbox too just noticed but mine is grey lol.
Hey man come down to York haven pa. Come to the York haven hydro plant lots of big cats
It's time you start making Snapper soup. Years ago where Route 23 met Rt.322 (Blue Ball, PA) there was the Blue Ball hotel and their featured dish was Snapper soup. They used to pay for Snapping turtles. I don't know if any restaurants in Philly do that but as many as you catch, you should look into it. Or you could do a catch, clean and cook video making Snapper soup. Just a thought.
Brian Royer just no
I caught a 30 pound flathead the other day on the schuykill. The fight they give is just amazing
really each time i get one it kinda just feels like iam reeling in bricks
Dam I've been looking for a place to go fishing for flatheads ill have to check it out
I have herd so many people say "did u here about the 31lb flathead caught by valley forge". I also herd it was in the Norristown patch. You are famous.
It’s crazy coming back to this comment now because 8 years later people are regularly pulling in 40+ pounders.
are mud bellys and bull heads the same catfish ??
shawn denham yep
shawn denham yep
Some people. All them butter carts too
What a giant! Great job man congrats
Thanks bud
Try using 1/8th oz jig head instead of regular j's for bullheads, they'll never swallow it.
Nice video! Turtles can be super annoying haha its cool how many fish you guys can get in a single night
***** We're pretty spoiled from what I hear, sounds like most states where guys flathead fish, theyre lucky to get a few in a night. we can go out and catch 10 no problem but odds are they'll all be less than 15lbs. 30lbers were once more common in our river but now they seem harder and harder to come by.
Chris McIntee Yeah getting 2 or 3 in one night is considered a pretty good night here. Getting numbers can make for a fun night but getting a nicer fish is sometimes better. The Colorado River is similar to your guys's fishing. You can get tons of fish but most will be small.
Ill take one over 30 opposed to 100 10lbers haha, unfortunately it never works out like that
Chris McIntee Jeez lol idk if I would do that. You've probably caught thousands of dink flats though so I can understand. When I want bigger fish I try and use bigger bait but I'm sure you know that smaller flats will pretty much try and eat anything. I end up having to use carp 1.5lb-3lbs just to have a chance of getting a bigger fish.
Yep, theres nothing worse than working hard to get some nice big fish baits, like 10"-16" suckers, only to get 5-10lbers chewing on them and killing them. We were out one night earlier in the year and had 50+ runs on cut sunfish but none were over 20lbs. Its all dependent on conditions/season/the particular night you're fishing. You seem to have an awesome fishery out there, Im starting to fish some of our reservoirs out here that have flatheads and am hoping to find larger fish on average. Problem is all I know is rivers so fishing a lake is like starting all over again.
buy a dehooker, so you can take the hook out when the fish swallows it
Great vid, what's good with some salt water Sundays? Lol
Chris Stackhouse There was talk of a shark sunday haha, saltwater sunday is a good idea, maybe in the future. Busy at work right now and havent made it down to the salt in a few weeks. Goin down to Virginia beack/Kiptopeke in a couple weeks for cobia etc so hopefully I get some good fish and footage.
i seen a sunfish
16:45 you mentioned that the Schuylkill river that night was 4000 CFS. Just curious, how did you that?
use them bullys alive, even that bigger one, have caught 3lbs flats on 1lbs bait.
you might have better hook up ratios with J hooks.....I've used both J and circle hooks for flatheads and have come to the conclusion that I have better hook ups with the J hooks.
circles for cut, j's for live...
The nerve of some turtles.
we can't do that in cali
Where was this at? Nice vid.
Nice flatheads!!
I fish this same spot!
I also fish a couple other that you have in your other videos too.
Wow good job
Hilarious with the catching of all the turtles. Loved the video. Must be an awesome spot in the river. I have never seen a piece of bread catch a turtle let alone all the ones you got!
Where on the skuke was this?
Caleb Roca Valley Forge. Theres a few spots up that way that require a little bit of walking but there is great flatheading up that way. This spot is about a 10 minute walk.
What lake did u go to?
Razorback musk turtle
no more shark fishin for the year?
viper2788 Might go once or twice more, I get sharked out pretty easily haha, sharking is a lot of work!
+Chris McIntee True, but its well worth it lol My buddies and I caught a few at Assateague Island. I think we're going once again for sharks and red drum in sept
Damn so many turtles
Danis Cajic savages! soo many turtles
Lol the turtle 😂
You take dinamite and blow up the turtles. Bam! Your turtle problem will vanish
"turtles are the worst"
3:13 LOLLLLL!!!!!
Use the turtle lol
