Admire how Kathleen is often unfazed by making something she considers a mistake. It’s nice to see she carries on and does not melt down ❤
As a person who can't really draw or paint, watching this was kind of like watching a spooky art wizard at work, which is something I didn't even know I needed from this world. Or, to put it another way, this video was like the center of a very specific Venn Diagram that intersected to hit me square in the aesthetic and I loved everything about it.
The purple wash really made the yellow glow details pop! I'll have to remember that. This is such a great spooky season project. I'd love to add a demon to a cottagey print 😈

I love the idea of upcycling old art prints - I think a lot of those end up at the landfill, so this is a great way to turn them into something new and loved!

“When you’re scared .. take a break.” I do this all the time when I’m painting and making things. 😆 It’s like the art equivalent of pulling the sheets over your head (no stereotyping of ghosts intended) for a little while.
Is it terrible that i want to give old knicknacks "cursed looking" elements and subtle haunty evidence TO the thrift shop? People love that stuff, i can quietly make their dreams co.e true. Lol i also tease the curator (of the museum where i work) that I'll leave scandalous, historically fascinating, and completely untrue postcards behind heehee...("last night the mayor came to our orgy, a fine time was had by all...")
Yes! I mean, no, not terrible, yes, please do this! I'm working on getting friends on board creating a sandal-soaked scavenger hunt using just our tombstones after we've passed. No takers so far.

This turned out so well!! I'm glad you had a good time (and found that PHENOMENAL white blouse). If I was going to add anything, I might put another ghostly figure on the front porch, watching over the little trio. Grandma supervising the kids from her rocking chair vibes, you know?

I've been listening to Louie Zong for a long time and am a more recent viewer of Kathleen, and it's so fun to see what songs she uses. I've been so excited for Halloweeny videos so she could break out all the Ghost songs. The way she used the sound effects from Ghost + Guest was so cute ☠️

This should be the poster child for "trust the process" because my anxiety skyrocketed when that purple wash came out so dark but it ended up turning out SO GOOD!
I went to the thrift store yesterday to celebrate a promotion I got at work! I was able to find lots of cute things (with lots of holes in nearly all of them😅). Now I'm working on sewing the holes closed and designing embroidered patches to put over them. My favorite is a chubby shark plush that I named Gummy! 😁

I have seen a lot of these on social media but I love how you altered the whole painting and didn't just add one or two things like most people do.
After hearing you say “I forgot how small you are”, I know view you as a giant and I don’t think I’ll ever watch your videos the same way again, but I love that!

My friend told me about this "adding spookiness/ghosts to paintings," and I found a great print of a mother and daughter that should wind up looking like something out of "The Ring," and I wasn't sure where to start. Your video gave me some terrific ideas, and I'm heading to the craft store to get me some clear gesso.

Love the spooky eyes peering out from the woods. I probably would have left the children as is but added a slenderman or other creepy watcher standing in the woods.

Now that’s what I call a MASTERPIECE. I’ve been so wanting to grab a Thomas Kinkade looking print at a goodwill ever since I saw @threadbanger do it a while back. If ya haven’t seen, well you must go and have a look-see. I think you’d enjoy the part where he sneaks them *back into the goodwill* for people to buy because you’re such a brave daring girl. I think you could do it. As for me, I would break under the sneaky pressure.

The painting reminded me of the spooky story The Mezzotint by MR James which is about a cursed picture. You just need to add a skeletal figure crawling across the grass!
I love this! This is like a tutorial but it’s not. A vlog of doing something you enjoy doing on the side. I don’t know much about painting but I love the explanations and the failures, the field trips to art shops.
You inspired me to hunt down and collect several paintings this year for my kids and me to do as a crafternoon project with them in September! I can’t WAIT!

Yup, I agree with those who mentioned the bats! I've been collecting examples of this Hallow-flip and will be doing this with my leadership team at the college I work at - we may extend the invitation to participate to the university we share a campus with! Yay! I love what you created!

Just a few suggestions:
Why pay for a picture. When you could snap shot the sceen. App on the gloom, ghosts, skeleton dog, black cat, jack-o'-lanterns, ect...
Down load the picture to your size. Just buy the frame cheaper.
Quick note: that white blouse would make a great holloween costume. Just tie a long navy blue silk scarf. Sailor hat, white gloves, white bell bottom pants. .... And you become a vintage sailor.
I wanted to read the mugs, but they went by so fast. So I set the playback speed to 0.25× for that section [2:23-2:33] and the music, the expressions on your face, and the actual mugs, were pure comedy gold when slowed down. I suggest everyone go watch that part in slo-mo 😅

I like your attitude. You could have scrapped the project for not meeting your expectations, but instead you let the surprises lead you. I often don’t know when to consider a project finished, but I’ve recently heard of the “ugly’s baby” concept, and it’s encouraging.

The painting turned out so goood! I love painting over a print like a paint by number and making it something new and fun. And I loved that you used the ghost choir songs for the background! *chefs kiss* you rawk. Though now you have to do a small one and add some bats. :)

I just finished Between Two Fires thanks to your recommendation. And boy howdy was that a RIDE. I feel a bit like someone cracked my skull open, scrambled my brain with a hand cranked mixer, popped it in a jello mold to set, and then plopped it back in my skull and twisted the top back on like a jar lid.
Not sure how else to describe the emotion I’m feeling right now, haha.

The scream I scrumpt when I saw you took on this project! 😍 I've been seeing these in the autumn & thrifting groups I'm in on FB and I LOVE THEM. So thank you for including the tutorial because I wouldn't have known just where to begin. You found such a perfect print to use too.
My only additional ideas would to add some autumn color and some pumpkins. That little flower patch could become a pile of fallen leaves perhaps. And of course I love the idea of adding a cat! 🐈⬛
